Thank you to Lauren Blakely and her team for the advance reader copy of The Bromance Zone. This M/M romance releases on October 26th!
I am very excited to be finally getting River’s story! If you are a fan of Lauren’s M/M works then you should know the bar owner very well.
I am a member of Lauren Blakely’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true.

“Two great friends. One road trip. And eight inches…
…of snow that night at the cabin.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. Friends don’t bang friends.
I want my friends to stay in my life, especially that flirty, clever, outgoing best friend of mine.
It’s a damn good thing Owen and I made a pact in college to never ever sleep together, or else I’d be tempted.
Trouble is, eight years later I’ve been wondering what his kisses taste like. And I’ve been curious if our chemistry would extend into the bedroom. If he might feel the same risky pull.
But I don’t want to lose Owen, and history says there’s no way a tryst between friends can end well.
So as long as I avoid the bedroom with him, I won’t break that hard-as-steel rule.
Except the snow has other plans…
The Bromance Zone is a deliciously flirty, red-hot sexy, friends-to-lovers MM romance about the charming guy next door who’s sworn to never date a friend, the flirty hot nerd who’s been secretly crushing on that friend forever, and one night snowed in in a cabin. This book comes fully equipped for your reading pleasure with sexy banter, a super awkward dinner party, and a scene in front of a fireplace that proves just how dangerous the friend zone is!“
Check out my more detailed thoughts below…
- Characters: River and Owen are the protagonists in this M/M love story. You should recognize River from Grant and Declan’s stories, Scoring with Him starts it off. River and Grant are business partners, they own the Lazy Hammock bars. I loved how River was begrunging being single yet there was Owen right in front of him for the last eight years. I could not help but feel such sympathy for him as a single guy with a lot going on for him. Owen is River’s best friend. Owen is the PR guy on Declan’s baseball team.
- Setting: The story kicks off in San Francisco where the boys are based. But soon we are whisked away towards Lake Tahoe. The boys are supposed to go to Owen’s friend’s Friendsgiving shindig. But Grant asks them to stop at Declan’s mom’s cabin to open it before their visit the following weekend. When the snow sets in, they get snowed in. Let the shennanigans begin! I loved the setting it really allowed for their relationship to flourish.
- Pacing: The first part of the book dragged a bit as we got to know the boys. Yet at the same time I would have liked it more if the boys’ past unfolded in scenes rather than one scene where they just spoke to each other about their exes and dating history. Then the end ran by super fast. I really did like this one but after getting so much time with Grant and Declan, I wished River and Owen’s story was a bit longer.
- Romance: River and Owen are an incredibly slow burn friends-to-lovers romance. They met in university and have been friends ever since. A no-sex pact is what has kept them out of each other’s bed’s for so long. I love that now eight years later it is increasingly hard to keep their feelings under wraps. They have such a great banter back and forth. There is such an ease between them. Once they came together their scenes were awesome, equally sexy and romantic.
Bromance Zone receives four out of five stars.
