Devney Perry’s Indigo Ridge ARC Review

Thank you to Devney Perry and her team for the advance reader copy of Indigo Ridge, the first book in The Edens series.

I adore Devney and I am very excited to be jumping into a new series with her. This series presents us with a lot of story opportunities and I cannot wait to read them all.

I am a member of Devney Perry’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true.

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.

Winslow Covington believes in life, liberty and the letter of the law. As Quincy, Montana’s new chief of police, she’s determined to prove herself to the community and show them she didn’t earn her position because her grandfather is the mayor.

According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town’s founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town and she didn’t realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.

Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she’s trying to forget. He’s insufferable, arrogant and keeps reminding everyone that she’s an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.

As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy’s own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Winslow is our protagonist. She is new to town but spent some time there visiting when she was little. Now she has moved to Quincy for a fresh start as the town’s new chief of police. I loved her determination the most. Griffin was such a good match for her. He is an Eden, his ancestors founded the town and his family runs a lot of the businesses around the town. I loved Griff, he was kind but also a bit scruffy. I loved getting to read as Grif melted for Win.
  • Setting: Our setting is the small town of Quincy, Montana. It was another one of Devney’s quaint Montana towns, that she does such a good job of depicting. The town felt reminiscent of Calamity, Montana from the Willa Nash series. There is a cute connection back to a different Devney book. Winslow has moved from Bozeman and had been on the force with Cole Goodman from The Birthday List. She speaks to him on the phone and gushes about Poppy’s restaurant. I loved this and if you have never read either of the Maysen Jar books you gotta!
  • Pacing: One of the best parts of this book was the mystery element. Winslow is the chief of police and so when a girl is found dead on Indigo Ridge she is the only one who does not want to write it off as a suicide. So solving the case became the main driver of the plot and a good one at that. I loved how the revelations were paced. The twists and the reveal really got me. I understand that may not be the case for every reader but I really loved that things were not very obvious.
  • Romance: At its core, it is still a gorgeous love story. Griffin has only ever really done hookups, never wanting to get too close to any girl in Quincy. When he meets Win he only sleeps with her because he thinks she is just passing through and she has the same thought about Griffin. Win is fresh off her long-term relationship really crashing and burning in her face. I loved that neither of our characters was looking for love and then it fell in their laps and demanded to be acknowledged. I loved their chemistry in and out of bed and how they almost accidentally fell into a relationship. They were not afraid to lean on each other. Devney is so good at writing these types of characters who transitioning from hooking up every night to saying I love yous.

Indigo Ridge receives fives out of five stars.
