Giana Darling’s Inked in Lies ARC Review

Thank you to Giana Darling and Social Butterfly PR for the advance reader copy of the latest standalone romance in The Fallen Men series, Inked in Lies; which releases on July 31st!

I am so excited to tell you all about the best book Giana has ever written!!

Check out the Goodreads synopsis…

“He moved in next door.
Handsome as sin, older in a way that meant forbidden.
He had tattoos on his hands and wickedness tucked in his grin.
I was a goner as girl to a man they called Casanova for a reason. He would never love me, at least not the way I needed him to.
I tried to move on. But I couldn’t turn my back on him or The Fallen MC.
So when they needed me most, I offered the only thing of value I could use to help them.
My body.
And when helping them meant putting my life on the line, Nova had to decide just how much he was willing to do to get me out alive.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Lila and Nova are the main characters of this story. Both characters have intervened backstories that layout beautifully in the first few chapters. Lila’s parents hail from Yucatàn and Puerto Rico respectively and have settled in small-town BC to sell drugs. Neglected by her own parents Lila and her brother Dane fall into the arms of the neighbours Molly a white Canadian and Diogo who is originally from the Algarve and settled in small-town BC as a commercial fisherman. Their eldest Jonathon Booth becomes the best friend to Dane and a brother like a protector to Lila. As the story progresses Jonathon patches into the Fallen MC and takes on the name Nova, short for Casanova. Both he and Lila have their own individual struggles that bring the story into the present.
  • Setting: Entrance is a fictionalized town based along the Sea to Sky Highway in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. As a local to Vancouver, I have always adored the setting, I have always imagined the town to be somewhere between Squamish and Whistler. Just close enough to Vancouver, but also far enough away to exude major small town feels and energy.
  • Romance: Lila and Nova have grown up together, meeting when she was five and he was in his late teens. Fast forward to Lila’s mid-twenties and the majority of the town sees just how in love with Nova she is. Nova seems to be the only person who doesn’t. On the crux of marrying someone else, Lila is forced to move in with Nova for safety after she takes on a dangerous job to help the Fallen MC. Being forced together in such a way makes them deal with their past and rectify a future together. This time it is truly Nova’s baggage that is the roadblock to their relationship, but it is something they overcome together. Giana always kills the sex scenes, there is an absolutely yummy one involving a tattoo session that is one of my fave sex scenes she has ever written.

I give Inked in Lies five out of five stars.
