K. Webster’s Stroke of Midnight ARC Review

Thank you to K. Webster, Valentine PR, and Serena and Dangerous Press for the advance reader copy of Stroke of Midnight, the first book in the Cinderella series, releasing on October 27th!

This is the first time I have reviewed for K. Webster. I had read Hale a few years ago and then never picked up any of her books since. But over this summer I got sucked into her taboo dark erotica romances. I really loved The Glue and the entire Hood River Hoodlums series.

Check out the Goodreads synopsis…

From USA Today bestselling author K Webster comes a brand new forbidden romance that’s going to leave you speechless.

Money can buy anything. And anyone.
As the head of the Constantine family, I’m used to people bowing to my will. Cruel, rigid, unyielding—I’m all those things.
When I discover the one woman who doesn’t wither under my gaze, but instead smiles right back at me, I’m intrigued. Ash Elliott needs cash, and I make her trade in crudeness and degradation for it.
I crave her tears, her moans, her submission. I pay for each one. And every time, she comes back for more.
When she challenges me with an offer of her own, I have to decide if I’m willing to give her far more than cold hard cash. But love can have deadly consequences when it comes from a Constantine. At the stroke of midnight, that choice may be lost for both of us.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Ash and Winston are the main characters of this Cinderella retelling. Ash is stuck in a horrible family situation with the grossest stepbrothers. An interesting twist on the usual stepsisters. Unlike Cinderella, Ash is not a damsel in distress. She is feisty and fiery. Winston is a Constantine someone I wouldn’t mess with, as the Constantines run this town. He’s got the money and is not afraid to spend it. And he’s super kinky haha.
  • Pacing: This story was paced extremely well. I loved the way the events unfolded. I loved how K. Webster took the time to unfold different aspects of the characters and the world the Constantines inhabit. Plus a killer cliffhanger that left me begging for more.
  • Romance: Gotta love another twisty sexy kinky romance from K. Webster, and I expected nothing less. The relations between Ash and Winston may have started transactional, but as the book unfolded it became clear that the two of them were falling in love with each other. Falling in love in this world is dangerous, and these two have a love that threatens to destroy them completely. And I cannot wait to see where K. Webster takes these two next when Prince Charming, releases in January 2021.

Stroke of Midnight receives four out of five stars.
