Devney Perry’s A Little Too Wild ARC Review

Thank you to Devney Perry and her team for the advance reader copy of A Little Too Wild, the final instalment in the Madigan Mountain series.

I am so excited about Devney’s Madigan Mountain story. It’s her take on a sports romance, with a one-night stand that could turn into something more.

I am a member of Devney Perry’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true.

“From Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry comes a small town, sports romance.

Crew Madigan is a snowboarding legend. He’s gorgeous, rich, famous and every woman’s dream. Well, except mine. I’ll take a nerdy guy with a clumsy streak who wouldn’t know what to do with a pair of skis to save his life. Superstar athletes? No, thanks. World champions? Hard pass. Crew? Definitely not.

It’s been over a decade since Crew set foot on Madigan Mountain. Instead of sitting with his family during his brother’s wedding, he takes the chair beside mine. ESPN really doesn’t do that chiseled jaw justice. The cameras miss the flecks of gold in his eyes. When he invites me to his hotel room after the wedding, I break all of my own rules for just one night.

But here’s the problem with just one night. Crew is impossible to forget. And he’s not the only one who loves a thrill. The crash, the broken bones, are inevitable. Because together, we’re a little too wild.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: It is finally time for the youngest Madrigan brother’s story! Crew is definitely the most reckless yet. All the brothers were bad about visiting home, but Crew has never been back since he left twelve years ago. He definitely felt the most troubled and in need of the grounding, home and family can provide. He is not taking care of himself and throughout the book, Deveny built so much tension in what will happen if and when he gets hurt. Enter Raven, who I really really loved! She works at the resort teaching the ski school and has been around Crew for a long time. He has always crushed on her because she is his best friend River’s little sister. Devney did such a good job flushing out both Crew and River’s friendship and the sibling relationship between River and Raven.
  • Setting: We finally got to experience more of the skiing and snowboarding that Penny Ridge has to offer. Some of my favourite scenes in the story were of Crew and Raven boarding together. There was a nice bit of momentum built into, Crew finding out Raven was a fantastic snowboarder and him becoming her biggest cheerleader. It was just so damn adorable. There was a particular ski lift-related scene that was crazy stressful, seems like Devney was trying to give me a heart attack.
  • Pacing: I just wanted to engulf this story. This one was the shining jewel in the series for me, but I am not surprised because there is just something about a Devney Perry book that makes me unable to stop.
  • Romance: Crew and Raven are sorta a friends-to-lovers couple, but also a byproduct of when what is supposed to be a quick fling becomes something for life. I loved how fast they hooked up and then subsequently could not stay away from each other. It is always so fun to read about a couple who doesn’t deny that they have caught feelings. Instead, they are both trying to figure out the logistics, can they make this work without breaking someone’s heart? There is something so real in that, I think a lot of couples will be able to relate.

A Little Too Wild receives five out of five stars.
