Lauren Blakely’s Two a Day ARC Review

Thank you to Lauren Blakely and her team for the advance reader copy of Two a Day.

Another sports romance from Lauren, this time we are in LA rather than San Fran. This book just missed the mark for me.

I am a Lauren Blakely review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

What I should do as the new quarterback in Los Angeles: Win games.
What I shouldn’t do: Try to win over the sexy, sassy, fiery woman who works in the VP suite for the team.
I don’t always follow the good guy rules though, especially when I want to take her home. Then up against the wall. Then, out to breakfast the next morning.
Maybe I can get away with a secret tryst for a few late-night plays.
But when the team management discovers what we’re up to, I can’t believe what they ask us to do.

Contents include: sex hacks, text snafus, bedroom dares, major league dirty talking, and twists you won’t see coming in this sexy sports romance

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Drew and Brooke are both connected to Lauren Blakley’s world of Los Angeles sports. Drew is a quarterback and Brooke is a sports attorney. Drew was a nice guy and a good teammate. While Brooke was a hard worker and super passionate about her job and all things sports. Both are just fine characters, nothing overtly special.
  • Setting: The story is set in Los Angeles and features a litany of the fictional sports team that exists in the Lauren Blakely California Sports Universe. You get a bit of baseball from Brooke working with the Bandits. But the vast majority of sports-related time was spent with football.
  • Pacing: The pacing felt off the entire time I was reading this. I enjoyed that they hooked up quickly and could not stop. Many of the milestones like deciding when to tell others and doubting it happened out of place. It also felt like the fake dating trope was just thrown in and this book would have benefited from it being a central trope from the beginning.
  • Romance: This book was deliciously steamy and had so many fun hookup scenes. I found I was not as emotionally invested in this couple as I have been in other Lauren Blakely couples.

Two a Day receives three out of five stars.
