I have been looking forward to this conclusion, time for Carter to bring his loves into his Morelli home! Overall, this series is a great introduction to triad relationships for readers who are unaware of them. As well as being one of the only Dangerous Press series that largely takes place outside of Bishop’s Landing, so it is refreshing to see another setting depicted. For the final instalment, we return to Bishop’s Landing and its politics. Fans of Carter, Theo, and June’s story will enjoy a satisfactory ending.

A hurricane has come to Bishop’s Landing…

Carter Morelli has been all over the world. Secret missions. Gunfights. The eye of a tropical hurricane. Nothing scares him more than home, where he looks into a mirror every time he sees his father.

But when the two people he loves most are in danger, there’s only one place that’s safe for them. New York City.

He won’t be able to avoid the place where he grew up. The place where demons from his past haunt him. The place where June and Theo can finally see the truth about him.

TROPICAL STORM is book three in the Deserted Island trilogy. Find out what happens in the breathtaking conclusion of Carter Morelli’s scorching hot story!

Welcome to the Midnight Dynasty… The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors.

WARNING: This book is intended for readers eighteen years old and over. It contains material that some readers could find disturbing. Enter at your own risk…

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: This story continues the challenge of handling the three points of view. I would say though Carter’s story really dominates this final instalment. He is really grappling with not only the implications of wanting to build a life with two people instead of one. But his identity has been ripped away from him rather violently. Readers will sympathize with the idea of identifying so much with your career that you don’t really have an individual identity. Theo’s point of view gets the second heaviest treatment. He has really come into his own, despite being ripped away from his home he is doing relatively okay. I loved how he, along with June pushed Carter to not run away from his emotions. The character-related disappointment I had through this is June was quite passive for the majority of this third book. Nearing the end she spoke up, and spoke up loud! Finally! I have been frustrated with how her voice feels a bit lost in this but there are so many great moments with her, you just have to wait awhile. A special part of this final book is that the wider world crash lands into it through a huge cast of Morelli and Constantine side characters. Fans of the wider books will love seeing Carter’s dynamic with Leo, Lucian, and Tiernan.
  • Setting: This is the first Deserted Island book set not on a deserted island. We are whisked off to locations you will know well if you have read other Dangerous Press books. We are in Bishop’s Landing, specifically Leo’s mansion. Which I have a soft spot for because I am brought back to
  • Pacing: What will propel you through this story is the sense of fear and frustration. A feeling of fear permeates this story, no place ever feels safe. This stressful feeling never left me. I needed to keep reading to make sure all these characters are okay. The frustrations come from Carter, Theo, and June (but mostly Carter) navigating how they can build a life together.
  • Romance: This final instalment is the culmination of the physical and emotional elements of this triad. For the physical side first, simply the sex in this book is great. Our characters really connected which made for some beautiful scenes. Which is a testament to the emotional maturity that has grown in this relationship. This book is really just them trying to figure out how they can all be together. Carter fears he puts them in danger and it is Theo and June that save Carter in a way that he has never been saved before.

Tropical Storm receives four out of five stars.

Thank you to Amelia Wilde and the team at Dangerous Press for the advance reader copy of Coercion, the third and final instalment in the Controlling Interest series.

I am super excited about the finale of Will and Bristol’s story! Fans of the wider Dangerous Press world will especially love this final instalment, which really brings us cameos from many characters that we love. While remaining a satisfactory conclusion for Will and Bristol’s story.

I am a Dangerous Press review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

There’s a fight to the death… and a fight for his heart.

COERCION is book three in the Controlling Interest trilogy. Find out what happens in the explosive conclusion of Will Leblanc’s emotional story.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Will and Bristol are now really a team against the world, and the world is sure throwing everything at them. Amelia built such a great journey for Bristol, I have loved seeing her confidence grow. This instalment really made Bristol have to stand up for not just what she needed but what she wanted. To fight to be by Will’s side and to have the peace in her life she most certainly deserves. Now the emotional journey of this instalment is Will’s development. I should have known Amelia would deliver some stunningly emotional trauma that our male character would have to finally face head-on, so he could open his heart fully. This is what Amelia did with Emerson, and naturally his brother Will is not spared from childhood trauma, it just manifested differently. My favourite character moments were all the time we get to spend with Emerson, Daphne, and Sinclair (whose story is coming next and I could not be more excited to see him and his love interest!) We really got much more of the Leblanc brothers dynamic, as they have worked on their trauma individually and together readers will enjoy seeing them be there for each other. It was also lovely to see a different family dynamic that is not a branch of the Constantines or Morellis.
  • Setting: Those who adored Emerson’s beach house in The Collector series, will be over the moon with all the time we spend in beach houses and on the beach. This book had so many cozy settings juxtaposed with the suspense, stress, and tension of many of the plot beats from the twins’ kidnapping to Bristol’s father’s injuries.
  • Pacing: This book will fly by as you pick up mid-action and then the plot never stops. It is not non-stop crazy action after the kidnapping is resolved quite early on. This last book is very much an exploration of the quiet moments that move a couple from casual to committed. Fans of this series will devour this book and be sad to have to leave Will and Bristol behind.
  • Romance: I love this relationship and how conflicts were navigated in this instalment. This couple had quite a journey to I love you, but Will and Bristol are both actions over words types of people. Their romantic scenes were perfect as there was an incredible intensity and desire. Despite the harshness of some of the BDSM-lite behaviours, there is a softness to their dynamic that will melt readers’ hearts. The most important relationship building not just in this book, but the entire trilogy has been Will with the twins. I loved to see him move from lusting over Bristol to caring deeply for her young siblings and building the three of them not just a home but a family.

Coercion receives four out of five stars.

Carter Morelli had a plan when he left London: deliver the wildlife photographer and then complete his secret mission. Except a lethal enemy has watched their every move. They tampered with the plane, leaving them stranded on a deserted island.

And they kidnapped June Porter, the innocent photographer.

In order to save her, Carter must confront the mysterious man in the jungle.

Who is he? Savior or betrayer?

He has no choice but to face the greatest enemy of all: the powerful feelings that draw him toward both June and the man in the jungle. Those feelings might kill them all.

  • Characters: We got points of view from Carter, June, and Theo in this instalment. We are finally getting more of Theo’s backstory, damn he had a messed up childhood. You begin to understand why he latches onto the island and why he struggles to trust June and especially Carter. Speaking of Carter, this sequel really grew his character. He is opening up, and being more honest. It is nice to see how different he is from the other Morellis, and that this book embraces being so different from other Dangerous Press books. I really found that June’s voice gets a bit lost in this instalment. There was lots of room given to Theo’s and Carter’s development, which took away much of the air in the room, leaving basically none for June.
  • Setting: This series is set on a deserted island, and this instalment takes us off this island to nearby land. I am excited to see where this book takes us in the future though as I was not as excited by this smaller populated area.
  • Pacing: This book is incredibly fast-paced with our characters on the run. It ran by and I found it a bit short. Due to the pacing, the character interactions also felt a bit rushed. I buy into their lust for each other, but not as much as their love just yet. I am really hopeful the third book makes me change my mind.
  • Romance: This book pushed the envelope even more in romantic scenes. Damn, there were some hot scenes in this book. I am enjoying that this story challenges the characters as they are forced to reckon with the enormity of their lust for each other. Especially for a character like Theo, it is quite a jump to see him decry these acts as sinful, but he too cannot help but fall victim to the behaviour himself. This book was better than the first instalment, I felt overall more invested in the characters than I had while reading the first book. It has a very promising ending and I am eager to see the trajectory of this throuple’s relationship in Tropical Storm, releasing in February.

Natural Disaster receives three out of five stars.

I am a Dangerous Press review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews. Will Leblanc takes risks in his private equity firm and in the underground boxing ring, but nowhere else. Definitely not in love. Which is why he had to walk away. Except Bristol Anderson needs his help. More than that, he wants to protect her. But no one can protect her from him. He has a dark side. A violent side. She’s an unbearable temptation. He’s barely holding back. What happens when the monster inside him gets loose? Welcome to the Midnight Dynasty… The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors. Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: I am so excited to be back with Bristol and Will. Similarly to other Dangerous Press releases, my favourite character development rests with the hero. Will’s icy exterior is starting to melt away. This is coupled with Bristol growing more confident. This second installment opens up with her as an assistant to someone besides Will, and that guy is creepy to her. Now that Bristol is a bit more sure of herself and does not want to put up with behaviour she doesn’t deserve she calls this guy out as a creep. By far my favourite character work in this was incorporating more of Will’s family. It was refreshing to see characters like Emerson and Daphne through other eyes. Setting: This story is primarily set in New York City, mainly in the headquarters of Hughes Financial. For those who have read Skye Warren’s Two for the Show, it was cool to be in a setting, and even see scenes familiar to us from a different perspective. The best setting comes at the end when all of our characters get out of town for a bit, but I won’t spoil that for you. Pacing: I read this story quite quickly. This series overall feels fast-paced, this second instalment did feel a bit slower that its explosive first book. As much as I loved a lot of the character development happening in the middle of this story, it dragged down the plot and pacing a bit. Romance: Aww these two are cute and I am rooting for them so much. You may be worried that because Bristol is no longer working for Will that this instalment won’t have steamy scenes in a not-so-appropriate workplace setting. But don’t worry these two still be working in the same building and struggle to keep their hands to themselves. These scenes were hot don’t get me wrong, but I find that I am particularly invested in this couple emotionally. I am so excited to see how these two navigate everything that this second instalment has set up to be thrown at them in their last chapter. Extortion receives four out of five stars. Carter Morelli, you may remember from previous Dangerous Press books. The more mysterious brother, always in and out of others’ stories. We meet Carter really for the first time in his story. Surprise he is not just a professor he’s a super spy who is keeping secrets from everyone. He has written himself off as a killer and is struggling between his dark and light impulses. June is our leading lady. She is a photographer, who happenstance is part of our story. She is stranded because of Carter and I did admire how she made the best of it. Theo rounds out our trio and he is the most mysterious of them all. Despite what does get revealed in the latter chunk of this first book we all still have much more to learn. So because of this, I don’t really know what to think about him, but I am excited to uncover more of who he is. Setting: If you have read the prequel, The Crash then you are not surprised that our story is set on a stranded island. If you have not read the prequel no fear, Force of Nature starts with the prequel for those who did not read the pivotal opening chapters. Stranding these characters on an island feeds the plot. The quicksand and poisonous plants really move the story along. Pacing: I was intrigued by the prequel and I think after the great pacing in that, the book pacing falls flat. I was not surprised to see this end with a cliffhanger and so it was not shocking. Many elements were kinda just wacky, and I was ready for this book to be a bit off-putting and weird but it just fell flat to me. Romance: This is an interesting romance, that I really am unsure about still. Right off the bat, I will say the scenes of the three of them together were pretty darn hot. Which I was expecting because both Skye and Amelia are great at writing these types of scenes. There were a few times I felt kissing and/or hooking up felt out of place. Carter kisses June for the first time relatively early in the story and I would have rather there was more time for sexual tension to grow. I am interested in continuing to read future instalments. These characters are incredibly shrouded in mystery and I cannot wait to figure it all out. Force of Nature receives three out of five stars. The quicksand and poisonous plants really move the story along.
  • Pacing: I was intrigued by the prequel and I think after the great pacing in that, the book pacing falls flat. I was not surprised to see this end with a cliffhanger and so it was not shocking. Many elements were kinda just wacky, and I was ready for this book to be a bit off-putting and weird but it just fell flat to me.
  • Romance: This is an interesting romance, that I really am unsure about still.

We had our first peek at Will LeBlanc in Sweet Mercy, and oh what a peek it was. This LeBlanc is my favourite yet! I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews. “Bristol Anderson will do anything to protect her younger siblings. Even if it means embezzling from the company where she’s a temp. No one will find out. And the wealthy owner of the venture capitalist firm will never notice. Except Will LeBlanc doesn’t miss a thing. He could call the police, but he has more interesting plans for her. In the copy room. On the conference table. Under his desk. The coldhearted capitalist will make her pay back every last cent.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Our heroine is Bristol Anderson, and to put it simply I liked her. I liked how she stuck by her family, especially how she cared for her younger twin siblings. I liked how she pushed our hero Will LeBlanc. Saying Bristol is stuck in a sticky situation feels as if I am putting it too lightly. I am excited to see where Bristol’s character development goes in a future instalment, I cannot wait to see her grow more confident in her abilities as many Dangerous Press heroines do over the course of their books. Now I have already mentioned Will and given you some insight into how much I loved him. I will be honest while reading the books Amelia wrote about his brother I was not big on Emerson, I much rather prefer Will. They are both troubled, dealing with their childhood trauma with different outlets. He is not a good man, but good is overrated sometimes. Will is a fighter, a tortured one who literally says in this story that he seems himself unworthy of love. I cannot wait to see him prove himself wrong. Setting: Bristol and Will’s story begins to unfold in New York City. This is at its core an office romance, a boss falling for an employee. So naturally, lots of stuff goes down between Will’s office, his apartment and Bristol’s apartment. The office sure bred some interesting scenes, that I am sure most of you readers will devour. All the talk in this one about a beach holiday is really making me put that on my bucket list for a setting of a future instalment. Pacing: This book flew by, and I could not stop reading. The pacing did feel a little off though. The beginning and end were really strong, the middle kind of lagged a bit. That could have just been my reading experience of it and I wouldn’t be wary of that. Romance: Oooh what a promising romance this holds. I love Bristol and Will together, I love their angst and tension. I love that they are pushing each other, not to be better people per se, but to be the best versions of themselves. Their scenes together were so hot, that I was dying for more. I found some felt cut a bit too short. But I have hope in a future instalment that we see Will test Bristol’s boundaries, even more, maybe even cross a few lines in the process. I cannot wait to see Bristol convince Will they have a love worth fighting for and to take fewer punches to the face. A great first instalment in this series and such a promising hot romance to come. After the crazy ending of the second book, Sweet Mercy I am excited to delve into this final instalment. I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “Emerson LeBlanc lost more than an acquisition. He lost the woman he loves. There’s no redemption for a man with his past. No future for a relationship built on stalking and kidnapping. At least that’s what he believes. When he meets Daphne again, she’s not a piece of art. She’s a woman determined to paint a new path. For herself. For him. Except the ocean holds more than shadows. It holds danger that could ruin them both.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Daphne’s agency has grown in this final instalment. She stands up for Emerson and their relationship, even in the face of formidable foes such as her brother Leo and her father. Emerson’s characterization in this instalment was super interesting. He had already been down the path of being super vulnerable with Daphne. But now seeing him without her, after having her to himself, damn. Being without Daphne reverses some of the work he’s done around leaving his house. My favourite character moments were all the cameos from other Morellis. We get some good page time from Eva, Leo, Haley, Carter, Elaine, and Lucian. I am really excited that we are getting stories for both Eva and Carter Morelli very soon. Setting: We return to Emerson’s house as our setting. The painting room plays a large role in their relationship, so we spend a lot of time in it. It was interesting to read how Daphne saw all the places she was in this story, how the safety she had originally felt in Leo’s home was giving way. How Emerson’s house had become this place of safety for her. Pacing: This book was written in quite the lofty style. Emerson has these long-winded internal monologues about the ocean, that are written more like a literary fiction piece rather than a quickie romance read. It was pretty but I didn’t really feel like it fit with this story in this genre. This story was a quick read but by the time it ended I was kind of unsatisfied. Romance: In terms of the romance between Daphne and Emerson this book as the conclusion kind of disappointed me. It didn’t have the hot sex scenes of the last instalment. There is a scene with a paintbrush that was pretty hot but no scene is gonna beat the menage from the second story in this series. I know it is a controversial scene, but I loved how taboo it was. I felt less invested in their romance throughout this book. The best parts of this book were their individual character developments, rather than their epic romance. This releases on January 18th! I am looking forward to diving back into Daphne Morelli’s story, to see where this next chapter takes her. I am a member of The Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “Daphne Morelli is trapped in a gilded cage. She fought to escape her family, only to be caught by a billionaire. Possessive. Commanding. And determined to keep her. Emerson LeBlanc wants to own the little painter. She’s become more than his obsession. She’s part of his collection now. Except she’s more perceptive than he’d like. Her artist’s eye sees the shadows in him. She paints his pain on stretched canvas. He’s determined to own her. She’s determined to escape. In the end only one of them can truly be free.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: We are finally getting to learn more about Emerson, the Collector remained quite elusive throughout the first instalment. So I was never fully sympathetic towards him. I love how in Sweet Mercy, Amelia depicted the push and pull of his emotions and thoughts. The internal battles he fought, on whether or not to open up and be vulnerable with Daphne were believable. I found myself understanding how Emerson is and what makes him do what he does. I love that things were cleared up as it helped me appreciate the story more. Daphne does not change too much in this instalment, I am expecting bigger changes to come in the next story. I did enjoy how she flexed her own agency throughout her time in a captivity of sorts. Setting: The story is primarily sent at Emerson’s house and its surroundings. What may seem like Daphne’s fortress is also Emerson’s safe house, and I enjoyed that dichotomy. The outside, the ocean and painting all play a big role in the setting and the wider story. This is the first Dangerous Press book where some wider metaphors are worked in and explored through the setting. Which is not something I look for in these books, rather it is a really interesting aspect of Amelia’s craft as a writer. Pacing: The book moved at a good pace. The ending was quite predictable, but that did not really upset me. I could not see this instalment ending in any other way and I really like what Amelia has set up for the third and final story, Last Resort which arrives in March. Romance: These two have a lot of chemistry in bed, and the scenes in this book were sure hot and heavy. What did surprise me though is that Amelia took some scenes in ways I could never have predicted. There is an incredibly hot scene that I was not expecting. It took a turn to a kink I had not predicted to be on Daphne and Emerson’s roster. To put it simply I loved that scene and I really think many readers will too. I am ecstatic to be bringing all of you the review of Daphne Morelli’s story! I was interested in her from when she first stepped onto the page. Amelia Wilde’s previous Dangerous Press series the Beauty and the Beast series was phenomenal so high hopes for Dark Reign. I am a member of The Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “Wealthy. Reclusive. Dangerous. Emerson LeBlanc doesn’t enter society much. He only ventures out in pursuit of new art for his collection. It starts with a haunting painting. Then he meets the artist… Innocent Daphne Morelli is more exquisite than anything he’s ever seen. He becomes obsessed with her. It doesn’t matter that she’s a living, breathing person with her own hopes and dreams. She’ll be the perfect addition to his collection.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Daphne Morelli is our heroine. She is one of Bryant and Sarah Morelli’s middle children. If you are a fan of The Midnight Dynasty world you will remember Daphne from Leo’s books. She is on the much more innocent side. She is a painter, having gone to university for fine art. She may have come from Morelli money but she wants to earn her own coin and be more independent. She is introduced as very principled and disciplined. But when the Collector enters the picture it has her falling victim to his allure. Emerson Leblanc is the Collector. An infamous collector of fine art in the city. He is a man of mystery and untold wealth. He is drawn not only to Daphne’s work but to Daphne herself. I found that I was not connecting with him at all. I understand that none of the men in this world are good guys, how many of them are kidnappers and murderers. There was something off about Emerson for me, he just creeped me out. Setting: The story was set in New York. This was the first time we did not spend a considerable amount of time at Bishop’s Landing. We do get a bit of time there as Daphne spends time with Leo and Eva there. The parts of Leo’s books that have Daphne in them. These scenes get some air time in Daphne’s book as well. I did enjoy this as my favourite parts of the book were when we got to see the dynamic between Daphne and her siblings, Leo and Eva. Pacing: The pacing felt off. This was the first Dangerous Press release I did not consume in a matter of hours. I just did not have the drive to return to this story. Romance: I was just not getting invested in these two. Maybe another book will change that for me. The sex scenes were only okay and I had high expectations because this is Amelia Wilde. As I mentioned earlier I found Emerson creepy, which really turned me off from him and the relationship. Dark Reign receives three out of five stars.
  • Setting: The story was set in New York.
  • Pacing: The pacing felt off. This was the first Dangerous Press release I did not consume in a matter of hours. I just did not have the drive to return to this story.
  • Romance: I was just not getting invested in these two. Maybe another book will change that for me. The sex scenes were only okay and I had high expectations because this is Amelia Wilde. As I mentioned earlier I found Emerson creepy, which really turned me off from him and the relationship.

Dark Reign receives three out of five stars.
