Thank you to Misty Walker and the team at Candi Kane PR for the advance reader copy of Leif’s Serenity, the fourth story in the Brigs Ferry Bay series. This story releases on May 26th.
Oh how I both love and hate the town of Brigs Ferry Bay. I love all my sweet baby angels so much and Fernando was one of them. I hate the anti-gay crusade so many in this town have, but it sure makes for a good antagonist.
Check out the Goodreads synopsis…
The world knows me as Leif in Wanderlust, travel blogger.
Through the lens of my camera, I take my followers along as I vacation in some of the most beautiful places all over the world.
Sure, it can get lonely, but I’m literally living everyone’s best life and loving every second of it.
Until I’m hired for a job in Brigs Ferry Bay, Maine, where I meet a local diner owner, Fernando.
One steamy night together turns into two, and two… turns into a week of bliss.
Our instant connection leaves me questioning my motives for why I do what I do.
Am I replacing meaningful relationships with the approval of strangers?
And why can’t I get Fernando out of my head?
Tourist season in Brigs Ferry Bay is the best season when your number one rule is to not sleep with the locals.
Small towns get six degrees of incestuous if you’re not careful.
So when a sexy travel blogger with a nerdy vibe struts into my diner, I call dibs.
He’s the perfect distraction from the dumpster fire that is my life right now, since Pops was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
I didn’t expect to actually like the guy or miss him after he went on his way.
But I do, and I can’t stop the intrusive thoughts telling me what we have is more than lust.
Now my biggest problem is convincing a wanderer to stay in one place with me.
I’m the cat, he’s the mouse.
*Brigs Ferry Bay is a steamy MM romance series. While each book can be read as a standalone, to get the full experience, they’re best read in order.
Enemies to lovers, hurt comfort, age-gap romance, and so much more.
Fall in love with the charming small-town gay romances of Brigs Ferry Bay.”
Check out my more detailed thoughts below…
- Characters: Leif and Fernando are the main characters of this story. Fernando is kind, selfless, and family-oriented. I absolutely adored his dedication to his family. He moved back home to assist his mother with his father’s Alzheimer’s and runs the family diner. He never did this out of pity, it was because he is the type of guy who is deathly loyal. Leif is an outsider who is kind, generous, adventurous, and independent. His parents rejected him because of his sexuality so I could not but cheer on Leif growing closer to Fernando and his family.
- Setting: The story is set in the small town of Brigs Ferry Bay. I loved Misty’s previous story in this series, Kian’s Focus. Kian and Archer get a bit of screen time. Especially Kian is such a good friend to Fernando and is so supportive of helping out with the diner and being a soundboard for the complicated relationship with Leif.
- Pacing: This story unfolded in a very natural way. There was push and pull between the boys as they dealt with their relationship evolving. There were stretches of the book where they were apart and all that did was further their own individual development. This was as much as a story of self-acceptance as it was a romance.
- Romance: Leif and Fernando have immediate chemistry and they act on it! What was supposed to be a few-day fling, could be something more? Both boys go through a journey of learning how to put their relationship first. Fernando through learning he cannot control his whole family and the situation with the diner. Leif through finding Fernando and being taken in by his family. I love the found family aspect of this story, it is such a wonderful trope. This love won’t be easy but it will be so so worth it!
Leif’s Serenity receives five out of five stars.
