- Characters: I fell hard and fast for the geeky and nerdy heroine Cammie and her LOTR obsession. She is the relatable one here, a girl crushing hard on a cute boy on campus and terrified to make the first move until the universe has other plans for her. Those who have read and loved the Toronto Terror series will love that Cammie is Essie’s younger and much shier sister. I loved all the connections to the Terror world built into this one, from Brody Stiles and his famous NHL-playing brother with an affinity for cucumbers. Along with a character I was hoping would play a role in this Tilton U series, Tally Vander Zee. Back to Cammie, that cute boy she was crushing on is star hockey player Chase Lovett. This man is just a boatload of green flags rather than the stereotypical college guy. He was attentive, supportive, and communicative. What I probably loved most was how much he loved Cammie for exactly who she was nerd and all.
- Setting: Tilton University is the perfect campus setting, it is filled with a wonderful cast of characters dealing with the highs and lows, the anxiety and the awkwardness of going to university. I loved how pivotal simply living in the same dorm was to the story right from the get-go and how it continued to be almost a character in this story. Conflicts and obstacles feel so real and relatable to anyone going through or who has gone through being in their early twenties.
- Pacing: Chase Lovett Wants Me is delightfully short, perfect for readers looking for a breath of fresh air or needing to break out of a reading slump. Tell me how you do not keep reading after the beginning, as we meet Cammie and learn about her crush she and Chase are forced out of their dorms and into the same hotel room accidentally. In such a fun only-one-bed dynamic it was impossible to put this book down.
- Romance: I loved Chase and Cammie’s love so damn much. Their relationship was so endearing, from Cammie learning how hockey works and braving the mean girls to go to the games. To Chase being such a patient and attentive guy, loving her so deeply. This romance is very swoony but also has a nice dose of spice. The bit about my precious had me laughing out loud, I always trust Helena to deliver such good spice mixed in with a bit of laughter.
