Lauren Blakely’s Instant Gratification ARC Review

Thank you to Lauren Blakely and her team for the review copy of Instant Gratification.

Another romantic comedy from Lauren Blakely, you can never go wrong when you want a fun lighthearted read to get you through the going back to school season.

Check out the Goodreads synopsis below…

“I need a fake date. She needs my late-night expertise. Now, if we can just keep our hands off each other…

As the premier best-man-for hire in all of Manhattan, I promise discretion, so when I need a plus one for a couple of “I dos,” I turn to my gorgeous, clever, witty best friend’s sister. She’s my good friend, too, and I lust after her completely. I mean, I TRUST her completely.

After all, just look how she’s kept her lips sealed about the hot, multi-O night we spent together. Yes, just look at those sexy lips.

In any case, we only fell off the wagon once, and it was months ago. I’m sure we can make it through these weddings without banging each other in the limo.

Or can we?”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Jason and Truly are the main characters of Lauren’s latest novel. Truly was a really fun character, as a bar owner, she was just a breath of fresh air in comparison to many female love interests. She’s Malone’s sister, and he is from the book, Satisfaction Guaranteed. Jason is such a charismatic character, and I love that the way Lauren writes places the male character in the main point of view position rather than the female character.
  • Pacing: Pacing seemed different to me than most books. I loved that about it though, because I find it harder to guess plot points if a book does not follow a traditional format.
  • Romance: This story is your classic “I can’t date my best friend’s little sister” and “I made a pact with my brother to never date any of his friends.” Watching Truly and Jason’s love be more powerful than the tropes that attempt to keep them apart is very rewarding.
