Amelia Wilde’s Hidden Beauty ARC Review

Thank you to Amelia Wilde, Serena and the rest of the team at Dangerous Press for the advance reader copy of Hidden Beauty, the second book in the Beauty and the Beast series.

If you never picked up Secret Beast, the first book in Leo and Haley’s story it is a must read from the publisher. Leo Morelli is one of the most interesting and mysterious figures in the Midnight Dynasty world and it is so incredibly satisfying to be unlocking the mystery.

I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true.

Check out the Goodreads synopsis…

“Is Leo Morelli a beast or a prince? He locks Haley in his castle for her own safety. She sees only the best in him, but the worst is yet to come.

HIDDEN BEAUTY is the second book in the Beauty and the Beast trilogy from USA Today bestselling author Amelia Wilde”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Leo Morelli and Haley Constantine are the main characters of this series. Haley has gone through so much character growth, she is much less of the innocent bystander and is much more willing to take charge of her own life. Leo, the beast of Bishop’s landing has been wounded and recovery is long and hard. He made such a sacrifice to save Haley in the first novel and because he is such an emotionally stunted person he cannot express that he does anything out of his love for her. So once he goes full alpha man protectiveness and basically locks her up, he does understand how that will be perceived by her. I cannot help but want to cheer on Leo and his own personal growth, that journey of his character is one of my fave parts of this story.
  • Setting: Bishop’s Landing in the New York City area is primarily where the book takes place. The main setting is Leo’s house, his mansion that parallels the Beast’s castle in Beauty and the Beast. I do love all the Beauty and the Beast parallels in this story. From the huge house, to the characterization of the staff, to scene that reminded me of the scene in the movie where they go outside (minus the snowball fight).
  • Pacing: This story was quite fast paced and I could not help but engulf each and every page. The pace of the series has been great to, as Haley is figuring out and proclaiming her feelings much faster than Leo. All of this timing seems natural to them.
  • Romance: Haley and Leo definitely have chemistry both in and out of the bedroom. There are some very hot, hot scenes in this story. There was a scene early on that just made me melt. Yet the story also had the heart and the care that develops in the second instalment of a love story. Haley is caring and a bit of an emotional crutch to Leo through recovery. I loved seeing them be vulnerable with each other.

Hidden Beauty receives four out of five stars.
