Thank you to Lauren Blakley and her team for the advance reader copy of Puck Yes, the second story in the My Hockey Romance series.

This one just did not hit for me. It put me into a deep reading slump and if not for the fact that I wanted to review it I don’t know if I would have finished it.

I am a Lauren Blakely review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

The hotshot new hockey player, the veteran team captain, and the woman they fall for when she becomes the new team mascot in a fake marriage hockey rom com!

When my ex trades me out for a better model—my boss—I don’t take getting screwed over lying down.

Instead, I get a glow up, not only landing a new job with the hockey team but also scoring the city’s hot new hockey player as my plus one to my ex’s wedding. Then, the sexy team captain starts flirting with me, too.

But one night after a win, I accidentally marry that intense new guy after the captain dares us to say I do. One dare leads to another, and I’m experiencing double the pleasure as I say puck yes to both players sharing me on my wedding night.

In the morning, when hubby and I are on our way to get an annulment, the team owner spots our rings and invites the new it couple to attend her upcoming charity golf tournament.

Looks like I have to fake it as Mrs. Hockey for the hockey season and the wedding season. There’s only one problem.

We’re not just a couple. Both guys want more of me.

And pretty soon I’ve got a bigger problem – I’m falling for my fake husband and my secret boyfriend at the same time.

Puck Yes is a standalone hockey, fake marriage, neighbors-to-lovers, spicy workplace MFM romance with a guaranteed why-choose style HEA! No swords cross. This story is perfect for fans of Lily Gold, Emily Rath and Lauren Blakely’s Double Pucked!

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Ivy falls for both Hayes and Stefan in Puck Yes. When we meet Ivy she is quitting her job and throughout the book, she does go through some character development. Then there are the hockey players, Hayes and Stefan, with Hayes being the new guy and Stefan being much more of the suave cool guy. None of the three characters really stood out to me.
  • Setting: The boys play for the San Francisco Avengers so the majority of this story is set there. There is a key exception which is obviously alluded to in the synopsis, they do all go to Vegas and 2/3 get hitched!
  • Pacing: There was seemingly too much and not enough going on in this story. It was so spice forward I did not really get attached to the plot happening between those chapters. This also has too many tropes, which is something Lauren does every once in a while when she tries to stuff too much into this book. I did not really like the fake relationship aspect at all and would have rather had the three of them navigate coming together without that.
  • Romance: So, I already said this book was spice forward and the quality of many of those scenes is why this is a three-star, rather than a two from me. Lauren has really got sex scenes nailed down and I enjoyed them. If you have read any of my other reviews it is my preference in poly romance for sword-cross, I want all the characters to really be together. Most of the issues with the pacing all over the place and not getting attached to the characters had me just not that invested in this throuple. Still suffice it to say, if you love poly hockey romance then you will probably get a kick out of this still.

Puck Yes receives three out of five stars.

She’s his opposite in every way…and the greatest temptation he’s ever known.

Reserved, controlled, and proper to a fault, Kai Young has neither the time nor inclination for chaos—and Isabella, with her purple hair and inappropriate jokes, is chaos personified.

With a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can’t afford the distraction she brings.

Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want, but with every look and every touch, he’s tempted to break all his rules…and claim her as his own.

Bold, impulsive, and full of life, Isabella Valencia has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm…except for Kai Young.

It shouldn’t matter. He’s not her type—the man translates classics into Latin for fun, and his membership at the exclusive club where she bartends means he’s strictly off limits.

But she can’t deny that, beneath his cool exterior, is a man who could make her melt with just a touch.

No matter how hard they try, they can’t resist giving into their forbidden desires.

Even if it costs them everything.

King of Pride is a steamy opposite attract, forbidden billionaire romance. It’s book two in the Kings of Sin series but can be read as a standalone.

Contains explicit content and profanity. Recommended for mature readers only.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: I love both of our lead characters so damn much. You gotta love Kai, the nerdy boy who is actually a bit of a freak in the sheets! Paired so perfectly with Isabella who is just so easy to route for. She’s the perfect blend of tough and soft. An added bonus of this instalment was setting Vivian and Dante as lovesick newlyweds. Along with a sneak peek into Dominic and Alexandria’s dynamic, which just made me all the more excited for King of Greed.
  • Setting: We are back in Ana Huang’s New York City and cameos galore! A central setting of this story in particular is the Valhalla Club as Kai is a member and Isabella a bartender there. I loved all their liaisons in the piano room and the secret library.
  • Pacing: What can I say there isn’t an Ana Huang book I haven’t devoured quickly. This was my second time through King of Pride as I had read the self-published version when it came out a few months ago. That should speak for itself that I am reading it again, only a few months apart from the last time I read it.
  • Romance: I alluded to it earlier but I feel the need to reiterate that Kai is just so hot. I particularly love the scenes where Isabella makes a very confident bet, loses and has to pay for it in one of the most deliciously possible ways. I loved how these two characters tended to just avoid each other and saw love as a complication. Then became each other biggest cheerleader, which I just love!

King of Pride receives five out of five stars.

You can pick up the story here.

Facing insurmountable odds, will they win the world, or will they lose it all?

From beloved, RITA-award-winning author Kennedy Ryan comes the gripping, passionate finale of the All the King’s Men duology.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Lennix has grown into her own so beautifully. She is such a strong character, it is hard not to get heavily invested in her well-being. Maxim is so damn intense, so the romance girlies will love that alpha-ness. I enjoyed his development and seeing how his relationships not just with Lennix but with his family shift as well. Our characters remain remarkably strong in the face of what the world throws at them. I won’t tell you what, it is well worth a blind read.
  • Setting: This story takes place all over the place, but has a decent presence in Washington, D.C. With Lennix and Kimbra running their own political consulting firm, if you liked the TV show Scandal you will love the Scandal vibes. If you like D.C. political intrigue then Kimbra’s book Queen Move is a natural next read for you.
  • Pacing: I cannot believe how many things I forgot from my first time through, on this re-read everything felt like I was experiencing it for the first time. This story is an emotional rollercoaster that never gives you a second to breathe. This story seems to fly by and plot point after plot point comes and goes, keeping you on your toes.
  • Romance: Lennix and Maxim are hot hot hot. Each romantic scene holds this quiet power. The power it takes to choose to be together against all odds. The power of the force of just how much they love each other and are meant for each other. The power for Maxim at least in claiming your person from day one.

The Rebel King receives five out of five stars.

Thank you to Sarina Bowen and her team for the advance reader copy of The New Guy, set within the Brooklyn Bruisers world and the first book in the Hockey Guys series!

This book is a culmination of so much I love about Sarina Bowen’s work. First off, it’s part of the Brooklyn Bruisers world one of my fave hockey romance series ever. Plus Sarina is so good at writing M/M love stories. Yet, she has not written a gay hockey romance since Him and Us, which she co-wrote with Elle Kennedy. Everyone will eat up The New Guy. If you especially loved Him and Us then The New Guy will pull on the same emotional heartstrings.

My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me New Guy.

That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.

But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.

What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.

We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.

Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other…

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our heroes are Gavin and Hudson. We met Gavin fresh to New York City, ready to start a new chapter in his life. I got attached to him so quickly. He is a single dad, as his late husband died in an accident and had adopted this young girl two years before he and Gavin got together. Jordyn is an adorable kid, and no surprise because her dad Gavin is such an incredibly endearing and kind guy. We meet Hudson when Gavin does, in a bar watching a hockey game. Hudson should be playing for the Brooklyn NHL team but he’s out with an injury. He is the perpetual “New Guy” who keeps getting traded around the league. He’s got a controlling father as his agent, who is forcing him to remain in the closet. I loved how Hudson can be adorably awkward especially when it comes to his feelings for Gavin.
  • Setting: I love this world so damn much! As Sarina grows her Brooklyn hockey world, I just never want to leave it. Previous fans of Sarina’s hockey books will be ecstatic as there were just so many sweet moments with the other team members and the extended organization.
  • Pacing: I enjoyed every moment of this story so much, that I never wanted it to end. I loved that right away it was set up that we were not only an epic love story but also the first time that in Sarina’s hockey world, we would see the ups and downs of navigating coming out as a hockey player. I hope we see even more diverse stories come into this universe.
  • Romance: This relationship starts off with a great meet cute. Just two guys in a bar, that should be watching a hockey game, and instead are unable to keep their eyes off each other. Plus we get such a steamy kiss as a tease for the intensity to come. Sarina did a great job of building the sexual tension between Gavin and Hudson. Once those two collided every scene was not just super hot, but brought an emotional intensity. I cried after so many scenes in this book, which is not something I usually find myself doing when I read Sarina’s books.

The New Guy receives five out of five stars.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Within just a few pages I had fallen deeply in love with Cassandra, she may be my favourite heroine in Olympus that we have met yet. I cannot help but want to root for a social outcast in this society. She is incredibly determined and Katee is so good at weaving great representation into her stories. Cassandra is a tremendous plus-size and bisexual representation. Cassandra works for Apollo, he is one of the thirteen, but he got the role by being selected by the other members of the thirteen. So, no surprise he is a wicked smart spymaster. He got to where he is through being hardworking and determined, virtues Cassandra and readers alike will adore about him.
  • Setting: The forced proximity trope plays a role in Cassandra and Apollo’s romance, but it also dominates the story’s setting. Most of this story takes place in this elaborate house that was Hermes and now it’s the Minotaur’s. This book felt like a game-changer for this world, even more than the last one. I love the politics of this world and this instalment sure took great advantage of this as so many of the thirteen are locked into a single home.
  • Pacing: I devoured this book as I have all the Dark Olympus books. So much of Apollo and Cassandra’s history is from before the book so you are thrown into their dynamic and the book never slows down.
  • Romance: Apollo and Cassandra are your classic we both feel things for each other but what bother telling the other person kind of couple. The tension between them is hot and heavy. Now not only are they keeping their feelings to themselves, throw in the boss-employee dynamic. All they needed was a fake dating scheme and some forced proximity to really reckon with the depths of their feelings. This book is so damn hot. I love Apollo and Cassandra’s in-bedroom dynamic, the portrayal of the softer side of BDSM was so well done. So many readers will love to see this sub-dom dynamic with some bondage play, but maybe not as intense as it can be with other couples.

Radiant Sin receives five out of five stars.

Final review of 2022 and I couldn’t be more excited about this premise from Lauren Blakley!

I am a Lauren Blakely review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

A new, forbidden, virgin + father’s business partner, standalone office romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!

Our days are full of secrets. Our nights are for seduction…
For the last year, I’ve wanted someone I can’t have.
The man my father built his latest multimillion dollar business with.
He’s a decade older than I am, and he’s entirely forbidden.
The fact that he’s never given me a second glance only makes me long for him more.
But the other night, across the room at a gala, everything changed. His broody gaze lingered on me and grew darker.
So I’m officially done being the good girl.
Tomorrow I turn 21. As a gift to myself, I plan to seduce my father’s business partner.
Happy birthday to me.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our heroine is Harlow, a newly twenty-one-year-old college grad experiencing and revelling in newfound independence for the first time. I loved that she was incredibly driven, even a bit bold. She has two men that dominate her life, her father her sole remaining parent who raised her in wealth and with a revolving door of stepmothers. But most of the space in her head is occupied by her huge crush on her father’s business partner, Bridger. She’s been crushing on him since she was fifteen and was dreaming of seducing him once she turned twenty-one. Bridger is in his early thirties, he is a TV producer, the more business-driven partner in the production company he runs with Harlow’s father. He is charming, a Broadway aficionado just like Harlow. I adored the early parts of this novel that had Bridger reckoning with how he is starting to see something more in Harlow, that the daughter of his business partner has grown into a beautiful woman with whom he connects so easily. I really like all the side characters introduced into this series, such as Harlow’s brother Hunter and her besties Layla and Ethan. They make up the Virgin Society, the namesake of this series. Layla’s story is coming next and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
  • Setting: Lauren has returned us to New York City and I could not be happier. I really love how Lauren crafts tales in the big apple. This time around it is a very upscale New York. It is filled with MOMA, other galleries, and broadway shows.
  • Pacing: This book felt a bit on the longer side but I found that it did not drag too much. It won’t feel as long if you had already read The Crush, the prologue Lauren added to illuminate Harlow and Bridger’s history in her later teen years. I just wish this was incorporated into the story rather than a prologue short story at the beginning.
  • Romance: The romantic scenes were decently hot, most readers will love Lauren’s work here. I had hoped for even hotter, even more trysts in the office, please!! I did really like how Lauren handled the topic of Harlow’s virginity in this story. It doesn’t get played up as this big deal, it does not affect her ability to be sensual. That was such a nice change to see in how this trope was handled. The stakes of the taboo relationship were well managed, it was not just sunshine and rainbows, it was nice that they really had to face the music.

The RSVP receives four out of five stars.

The first rule of being an attorney is don’t sleep with your clients.
The second rule is–see the first rule.

Those guidelines don’t account for a man like Zane Archer though. The major leaguer is all confidence and big D energy as he swaggers into my life one night at a hotel bar, determined to spend the night with “the sexy suit,” as he calls me.

I’m so damn tempted to say yes, especially when my new client devastates me with a scorching kiss that has me reconsidering all my life choices.
The catch? If I tear up the rule book, my reputation as a lawyer to the most bankable stars in pro sports is on the line. Including my new goal of striking the deal of a lifetime for him — one he desperately needs to take care of his family.
Instead, I fight like hell to stay professional as I work closely with the man I can’t have.
But the more time we spend together, the more his irresistible charm threatens to break my resolve . . . right along with my heart.

TURN ME ON is a red-hot, MM, forbidden sports romance between a sports agent and an athlete…

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our male leads are Zane and Maddox. Zane is an athlete, he plays for the San Francisco baseball team. He’s out and proud while being quite the charmer. In this pair, Zane is more of the dominant one. The best part of his though is he is such a good uncle to his adorable niece. As for Maddox, he is a sports agent. He was recently poached by Zane’s agent Vance over to Vance’s agency. Maddox was brought in to help Zane acquire more sponsorships. Mad was definitely dominant in his professional capacity, a workaholic who chased deals and clients. But in the bedroom, he subdues for Zane, and I loved the dichotomy of Maddox’s character.
  • Setting: The setting flips around quite a bit in this story. The most pivotal setting in New York City as so many key scenes happen there. I have always loved NYC and want Lauren to eventually return to the East coast settings over her current runs in the West Coast settings. The majority of the story is either in San Francisco, where Zane is based or Los Angeles where Maddox has his house and his very lovely pool, hehe.
  • Pacing: I found the pacing off in this story. The beginning half really dragged for me, I struggled to return to the book to read the much stronger latter half. The pacing of Zane and Maddox giving into their attraction took too long. I am not saying they needed to hook up in the first chapter, but it was getting frustrating as I was reading that they had not stumbled into bed together.
  • Romance: Maddox and Zane had some scorching scenes, but the pacing issues I had made me wait for most of the novel to get to them. I was not as emotionally invested in this couple as I have been with other Lauren Blakley M/M couples. This is because of the pacing issue, how am I supposed to buy into the depth of their feelings when the beginning is too drawn out and all the hookup scenes happen in rapid succession near the end? It would have been more powerful for them to hook up a few times before the roadblocks hit, instead, it read like the minute there was one slip up there were consequences.

Turn Me On receives three out of five stars.

I am super intrigued by the next instalment in Will and Bristol’s love story, I loved how it began and the tropes Amelia chose to play with. I cannot wait to see what comes next. I am a Dangerous Press review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews. Will Leblanc takes risks in his private equity firm and in the underground boxing ring, but nowhere else. Definitely not in love. Which is why he had to walk away. Except Bristol Anderson needs his help. More than that, he wants to protect her. But no one can protect her from him. He has a dark side. A violent side. She’s an unbearable temptation. He’s barely holding back. What happens when the monster inside him gets loose? Welcome to the Midnight Dynasty… The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors. Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: I am so excited to be back with Bristol and Will. Similarly to other Dangerous Press releases, my favourite character development rests with the hero. Will’s icy exterior is starting to melt away. This is coupled with Bristol growing more confident. This second installment opens up with her as an assistant to someone besides Will, and that guy is creepy to her. Now that Bristol is a bit more sure of herself and does not want to put up with behaviour she doesn’t deserve she calls this guy out as a creep. By far my favourite character work in this was incorporating more of Will’s family. It was refreshing to see characters like Emerson and Daphne through other eyes. Setting: This story is primarily set in New York City, mainly in the headquarters of Hughes Financial. For those who have read Skye Warren’s Two for the Show, it was cool to be in a setting, and even see scenes familiar to us from a different perspective. The best setting comes at the end when all of our characters get out of town for a bit, but I won’t spoil that for you. Pacing: I read this story quite quickly. This series overall feels fast-paced, this second instalment did feel a bit slower that its explosive first book. As much as I loved a lot of the character development happening in the middle of this story, it dragged down the plot and pacing a bit. Romance: Aww these two are cute and I am rooting for them so much. You may be worried that because Bristol is no longer working for Will that this instalment won’t have steamy scenes in a not-so-appropriate workplace setting. But don’t worry these two still be working in the same building and struggle to keep their hands to themselves. These scenes were hot don’t get me wrong, but I find that I am particularly invested in this couple emotionally. I am so excited to see how these two navigate everything that this second instalment has set up to be thrown at them in their last chapter. Extortion receives four out of five stars.
