Thank you to Melanie Harlow and her team for the advance reader copy of Small Town Swoon, the fourth story in the Cherry Tree Harbor series.

I adore Dash and Ari so much, Melanie Harlow has put together a phenomenal novel. Who doesn’t love when a character gets a second chance to fall even harder for her best friend’s older brother, bonus he’s a Hollywood heartthrob!

I am a Melanie Harlow review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

Only in the movies does the Hollywood heartthrob fall for the small town diner waitress.

So when Dashiel Buckley returns to Cherry Tree Harbor for a wedding, I’m determined not to let my massive crush on my best friend’s older brother hijack my good sense.

(It happened once before. Do not recommend.)

But when my hand is injured, it’s Dash who steps in at the diner. The moment he realizes I can’t afford to fix my car, he takes care of it. And when he hears about the way my toxic ex treated me, he refuses to let it go.

Now it’s not just his blue eyes and sexy smile that have me swooning, it’s the way he wants to help me. Encourage me. Protect me.

I can’t resist.

Our text messages heat up. Our phone calls melt all my defenses. “Just friends” turns into “just once,” and “just once” becomes a distant memory. Night after night, he warms my bed, my body, and my heart.

But it can’t last.

Our dreams have us on two different paths–Dash wants the lights, camera, action of Hollywood, and I’ll always be a small town girl.

If only I could be his.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Dash and Ari are the main characters. Dash is the Buckley of this instalment, the brother who left Cherry Tree for a movie career. When we meet him you empathize with him right away, he’s been typecast and wants to pivot into a more serious role. That is not going as easily as he planned, and he’s back in town a bit early for his brother’s wedding to see if being home gives him that boost he needs. That boost comes instead from Ariana DeLuca. Ari is Mabel Buckely’s best friend and has loved Dash since she was young. When we meet her she is all embarrassed about Dash, specifically when she crawled into his bed at sixteen years old with seduction on her mind, and the gentleman Dash is he turned down her advances. I loved Ari and her determination, as she’s a professional chef set to inherit her parent’s diner but waits for nothing to be handed to her. She helps Dash with his bit of stunted emotions at the beginning of the story, by the end every reader will fall for yet another Buckley brother.
  • Setting: Cherry Tree Harbor is in this wonderful world of Melanie Harlow’s Michigan. I loved that we are not too far from so many of her iconic settings and so we get this really wonderful Cloverleigh cameo in Small Town Swoon. Speaking of cameos, I see you Melanie with the reference to one of our fave bull riders Rhett Eaton (Elsie Silver fans will eat it up, or should I say drink it up).
  • Pacing: I fell headfirst into this story and never wanted to come up for air. I love this town and its cast of characters. The story beats are timed very well, and I enjoyed how the third-act conflict was dealt with maturely. It felt like further proof that when they were young it was the right person at the wrong time, and now is their perfect time.
  • Romance: I love this type of second-chance romance, the kind that feels so rewarding when it is so many years in the making. Ari had loved Dash for so long and never thought he’d look at her twice since the night she messed it all up. Rather it was Dash who admits he did always want Ari but believed he was not good enough for her when she was sixteen, and he was nineteen. Now all grown-ups both of them have palpable chemistry, the tension oozes off the page, and Melanie produced one of her steamiest books, each scene is the chef’s kiss (a chef’s pub for Ari). Their relationship conflict felt so real, and it makes me more bittersweet that we are nearing the end of our time in Cherry Tree Harbor.

Small Town Swoon receives five out of five stars.

And if I’m not careful, I could lose everything… my home, my dreams, and my heart.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: The main characters are Lexi and Devlin. As we meet Lexi she is ready to inherit her family’s ski resort except her grandmother failed to mention that her in will it stipulates that only a couple can inherit. Enter Devlin, who works for the development company dead set on buying Snowberry Lodge. I fell for Lexi hard, she is a firehouse and never let Devlin get away with anything. I loved all the side characters so much, from Lexi’s grandmother to her friends who will be familiar faces to fans of Melanie’s other books. Along with the other Buckleys of course! I loved an excuse to see these characters again!
  • Setting: This small-town romance happens mostly at the Snowberry Lodge and I loved it there! But also gotta love a little side trip to Las Vegas and a Vegas wedding!
  • Pacing: I devoured this book and how could I not?! It’s electric right from the start and never slows down. You just want to root for Lexi and Devlin so easily. I could not wait to see what the fake, turns into real so I just kept reading and reading fast.
  • Romance: The tropes just made for the perfect amount of sexual tension! The book starts off with a bang literally and never slows down. The characters struggle to keep their hands off each other, and what is supposed to be all for a show to protect Lexi’s inheritance devolves into way too many “my wife” moments from Devlin. Very soon he is giving his all to Lexi and you cannot help but be swooned by him too. Plus of course, this book is hot just like all of Melanie Harlow’s books as she has been a top-tier smut writer for me for a long time.

Make Believe-Match receives five out of five stars.

Thank you to Melanie Harlow and her team for the advance reader copy of Hideaway Heart, the second story in the Cherry Tree Harbor series.

I just adore Melanie’s small-town romances, she is just so damn good at what she does. Hideaway Heart features a bodyguard falling for his famous client and who doesn’t love that combination?

I am a Melanie Harlow review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

All I wanted was a break–two weeks off from being Pixie Hart, country music sensation, and fourteen days of peace, privacy, and solitude as plain old Kelly Jo Sullivan.

But thanks to some overzealous paparazzi, my family refuses to let me go anywhere alone, and I’m stuck sharing this tiny cabin with a tall, dark, and bearded stranger.

And guess what? There’s only one bed.

Well, he can couch it.

Xander Buckley might be hotter than a stolen blow torch, and I get that he’s a former Navy SEAL and all, but the man gives new meaning to the words overbearing, overprotective, bossy alpha male. I can’t even post a photo on social media without him warning me it’s not safe, or take a morning jog without him following behind.

But he’s made it clear that what he says goes, and if I don’t like it, I can kiss my vacation goodbye.

Instead, I end up kissing him.

I don’t even know how it happened–one minute we were at each other’s throats, the next we were at each other’s mercy. What’s even more shocking is how good we are together. He understands my need for freedom, and I understand his need for control.

But emotional trust doesn’t come easily to me. And we’re on two completely different paths.

Without question, I’d put my life in his hands.

Just don’t ask me to give him my heart.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our lead characters are Xander Buckley and Kelly Jo Sullivan. Kelly a.k.a Pixie Hart is a country music star who barrels into Xander’s life when her brother asks Xander to watch out for Kelly while she takes a vacation from her life. We meet Kelly at such an interesting place in her life, at almost a transition time in her career. She is getting fed up with giving in to what the studio, her ex, and others expect of her. I loved that this reset with Xander had Kelly shifting her priorities and seizing control back in her life. Xander is a former Navy Seal and used to work for Cole Security. If you have ever read a Corinne Michaels’ novel then you know what that means. If you haven’t well you should cause she and Mel are best friends, write in complimentary styles, and drop easter eggs for each other’s works in their books. Xander is very loyal, determined, and persistent. It was easy to fall for him. If you liked Austin in Runaway Love be prepared for another Buckley brother to steal your heart.
  • Setting: This story is set just outside of Cherry Tree Harbor proper. Kelly rented a remote cabin to unplug and get away from the paparazzi. It was adorable to read as Kelly and Xander started to fall for each other in such a cute setting. The cabin was not too far away from the town though which promoted so many scenes with Veronica and Austin (of the previous novel). It was interesting of Mel to do that this book runs parallel to the second half of Runaway Love. So you get the added bonus of seeing the previous book’s couple fall in love from a different point of view.
  • Pacing: This book is hard not to engulf, and I kept making more excuses to read it. My favourite part of the book was the first chunk of them initially falling in love and spending time together. As the rest of the story progressed it dipped a bit for me and became a bit predictable. But I can’t be angry at that as Mel wrote a story that made perfect sense for these two characters.
  • Romance: I adored reading Xander and Kelly fall in love. Kelly had a shitty ex and Xander had put everything above his own needs – so, of course, they were the perfect combination of just so damn deserving of this. Melanie always balances the emotions and the sex of her couples. So be prepared there are some fun steamy scenes, but still so much heart. A couple like this just gives you butterflies while you read and you never want their story to stop.

Hideaway Heart receives five out of five stars.

I am a Melanie Harlow review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

Yes, I’m a single dad who needs a nanny for the summer.

But hire the stranded runaway bride who shows up on my doorstep in a wedding gown with no references, no skills, and no experience?

No one is that desperate.

Except within twenty-four hours, down-on-her-luck Veronica Sutton manages to charm my kids, my family, and half the population of Cherry Tree Harbor into believing she’s perfect for the job.

And for me.

It’s not that I can’t see the appeal–those baby blue eyes? The endless legs? That mouth made for trouble? But I’ve got enough on my plate, raising two kids on my own and keeping the family business alive. I don’t have the time or the inclination to fall for an outspoken city girl.

So I should have kept my hands to myself.

Holding her in my arms was a big mistake. Even worse? Spending the night together. She ignites a possessive fire in me that I’m finding hard to snuff out.

But the most unforgivable? Growing attached to the sound of her laugh, the scent of her skin, and the way her body wraps around mine in the dark.

At the end of the summer, she’ll be gone.
And if I’m not careful, she might run away with my heart.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: We meet our heroine Veronica as she finds out her fiancè cheated on her, so she jilts him at the altar. I loved how this book featured her personal journey in re-discovering her independence. After being stifled by her ex, Veronica dawns her red lip again and breathes life into Austin and his entire family. Austin is our hero and he is a classic romance novel leading man. He is a single dad, who says he has no time for himself, to either explore setting up his own business, let alone go on a date. Austin has two adorable little kids, a boy and a girl. I wish they had a bit more time in the book, they did not capture my heart as much as other young kids have in past Melanie books such as Irresistible. Veronica and Austin are both very likeable characters, along with everyone else in this charming town.
  • Setting: Cherry Tree Harbor is a new setting in the Melanie Harlow world! I adored everyone in this town, and how this may be the most gossip-filled town yet. The Buckley family from Austin to his brother, sister, father, and the two brothers we did not get to meet, this series has a lot of fodder and I cannot wait to see what story we get next.
  • Pacing: This story just flew by and I finished it in like a day. The book takes place over the course of the summer, with one specific week holding great significance. So the pacing was super interesting
  • Romance: Veronica and Austin had such a beautiful relationship that so many readers will love! They are super-steamy, thank god the twins went to visit their mother for a week so Austin and Veronica could come together. They are both bad about communicating their emotions not just to each other, but to themselves. They are what the other needed as Veronica needed someone to celebrate her without stifling her independence. While Austin needed the reminder it’s not selfish to love and want to spend life with someone by your side.

Runaway Love receives five out of five stars.

As for me, I’m looking for a man who wants to start a family, and Zach has made it clear he’s not that man. He’s fifteen years older, newly divorced, and he lives across the country.

But no matter how many times we draw the line, we keep crossing it.

Nothing so wrong should ever feel so right.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Millie is our final MacAllister sister protagonist! It feels like the end of an era for these gals, but I really hope Mel keeps writing in this world I love so much. This character is such awesome plus-size representation. We meet Millie really struggling with dating, seemingly every man she dates finds the love of his life once he ends things with Millie. The best part as always was getting to enjoy the sibling dynamics with Winnie and Felicity. Our leading man is Zach, a former Navy Seal who now works for a private security company. Now here is something really cute, if you are a fan of Melanie Harlow’s bestie Corinne Michaels’s books then you will love the cameos and easter eggs. Zach doesn’t just work for any private security company, hehe. I loved Zach, he was a blend of charming and protective.
  • Setting: I am always happy to be in Cloverleigh Farms, it was especially fun to be there for a dreamy Cloverleigh wedding run by Millie. What was different about this book is we got to see our couple in a few other settings. I loved that the story opened up in New York City, with such a hot hotel hookup. Then we follow Millie and Zach throughout their long-distance hookups all over the US.
  • Pacing: This book was a really great length. I was slightly worried that the ending would be rushed because Melanie gave the middle, and subsequently the relationship so much time to grow just in secret. But Melanie always succeeds in delivering a satisfactory ending.
  • Romance: Omg this book is super hot. Their first hookup, the tryst in the New York hotel room I alluded to earlier is smoking and really sets the tone for these characters both in and out of the bedroom. Zach may be one of Melanie’s most dirty-talking and dominant characters yet. Longtime fans of Melanie will be excited to hear he gave me Lucas from Frenched vibes. This romance was easy to emotionally invest in too. Millie and Zach were both so deserving of finding life-long love and having the opportunity to build a family together.

(And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.) Nothing happened, of course–because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love. Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses. He is a former Navy SEAL turned firefighter. He is a bit of a grump and swears a shit ton. He loves his daughters, he puts them first even at the detriment of his own happiness and that was one of the reasons it was so easy to cheer for him to find love. Our heroine is Winnie, you will recognize her if you have read Irresistible. She is Mack and Frannie’s daughter. Winnie is a hopeless romantic, but she has had to swear off men. After a failed engagement and a litany of bad boyfriends. She falls in love fast and hard. I loved how she always saw the best in people. Dex’s daughters, Hallie and Luna were much needed comic relief. When emotions got heavy they were always there to make a joke about Dex being a hairy ogre. Setting: I am so excited to be back at Cloverleigh! The best part of this book was all the interactions we got with other characters from all over the MHU (Melanie Harlow universe). There are obviously great scenes with Frannie and Mack. Along with the scene stealer character of Ellie, who is Winnie’s bestie. She is Mia and Lucas’s daughter whom you may remember from Frenched. I really hope we get her love story next! Finally we also get cameos from Mariah and Chip. Mariah being Cole’s daughter from Make Me Yours. Chip who plays a role in Unforgettable. Pacing: I have always loved how Melanie paces her books and Ignite was no exception. The stories are always the perfect length, not too long nor to short. All of it was just perfect when it came to pacing. Romance: These two are so hot together. It is amusing to see Winnie following in her parent’s foot steps. So many similar circumstances are in play. From the age gap to Dex’s single dad status. I knew from the first few pages I was going to be invested in seeing these two fall in love. They had immediate chemistry and I loved how they slowly, easily fell into love. Into the kind of love that both of these characters deserved. Love that was equal parts sweet and sexy. Melanie took a bit of a break between releases and all I wish is that the gap between the next one is not as large, because I need more Cloverleigh books and I need them now! I have absolutely loved Mel’s Bellamy Creek series so far. And now we are getting a friends to lovers romance between a single mom and the boy she’s always had a crush on. Melanie is just the queen of equal levels of swoony romance and heated physical attraction between the characters. This story is a prime example of why Melanie is a master at her craft. I am a member of Melanie Harlow’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “Just friends. That’s all Beckett Weaver and I have ever been. Sure, he’s a hot cowboy who left Wall Street behind to take over his family’s ranch. Yes, I’ve had a secret crush on him since we were seventeen. And who wouldn’t appreciate those strong hands, that massive chest, and the way he fills out a pair of Levis? He makes a girl sweat just looking at him . . . and I look. A lot. But I’m a single mom trying to move on with my life, and he’s running that ranch single-handedly while taking care of his elderly father. We don’t even live in the same state. I only returned to my hometown of Bellamy Creek to sell my late mother’s house, and he just invited me and my son to stay with him because he’s got a big heart. That’s not the only big thing he’s got–which I discover the night I finally sneak across the hall to his bedroom and shed my inhibitions right alongside my pajamas. And once we give into each other, we can’t stop. The hayloft. The bed of his truck. The dock by the pond. Nothing has ever felt so right, but his past has taught him not to believe in happily ever after, and every perfect night I spend in his arms brings us closer to goodbye. Like any cowboy, he’s good with a rope and knows exactly how to tie me up. But what if I want him to tie me down?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Maddie is strong, independent, and passionate. I loved both her fighting spirit and her motherly nature. I found her quite the interesting character as she is this super caring, lovely person but she keeps dating, even married a jerk. Beckett was the only guy really kind to her and they never pursued a relationship. Beckett is open, warm, and generous. I loved how he puts his family first by being a great son, brother, and uncle. The way he loves Maddie, and how he never really has loved like that since she moved away. Setting: The story is set in Bellamy Creek. Maddie and her son Elliott descend on Bellamy Creek to fix up and sell her late mother’s home. Elliott is definitely going to be a fan fave as he is an adorable boy and has such a great relationship with his mom. If he wants to wear dresses, unicorn clips, and lots of pinks, Maddie is just as supportive of him if he wanted to only wear pants and play sports. Bellamy Creek also brings with it the gals of the previous books. Blair (Drive Me Wild), Cheyenne (Make Me Yours), and Bianca (Call Me Crazy) take Maddie under their wings in such a lovely way. I love a group of supportive girlfriends, who encourage you to go after the man you love. Pacing: I loved the pacing of this story. The real star power is that this is the final story, the culmination of Bellamy Creek. I loved having big events like Cheyenne and Cole’s wedding that brought all the characters together. The extended epilogue was just the perfect way to end this series. Romance: Maddie and Beckett take some time to admit they want each other. Once they do they begin to fool around in such a carefree, steamy, fun way. It feels like how it would have been if they had admitted the feelings they had for each other when they were younger. Many of the roadblocks put up in their relationship are put up by Beckett and his goddamn commitment issues. His mom abandoned their family when he was a baby and it has given trust issues. He cannot help but believe that all Maddie will do is leave, because love has a shelf-life. This story is about fighting for love, for letting it make you the best version of yourself. It is such an epic story and a perfect conclusion to Bellamy Creek. Tie Me Down receives five out of five stars. You can pick up the story below… Grab yours now or read in Kindle Unlimited! Thank you to Melanie Harlow and her team for the advance reader copy of Tie Me Down, the fourth story in the Bellamy Creek series.

Check out the Goodreads synopsis…

“Just friends.

But what if I want him to tie me down?”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Maddie is strong, independent, and passionate.
  • Setting: The story is set in Bellamy Creek.
  • Pacing: I loved the pacing of this story. The real star power is that this is the final story, the culmination of Bellamy Creek. I loved having big events like Cheyenne and Cole’s wedding that brought all the characters together. The extended epilogue was just the perfect way to end this series.

Thank you to Social Butterfly PR for the blogger materials. I absolutely love any new release from my queen Melanie Harlow. These two characters in Call Me Crazy kept making appearances in previous instalments and I have been dying for their story. I am a member of Melanie Harlow’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “It was the perfect plan.I needed a wife—temporarily—in order to inherit the family business. And she needed a favor—the kind that takes nine months to deliver. We had it all worked out, from the no-touching policy on our wedding night (her rule) to the no-falling-in-love decree (mine). She’d marry me, I’d give her the means to have the baby she’d always wanted, and one year later we’d amicably part ways with no hassle, no demands, and certainly no regrets. After all, Bianca DeRossi and I are experts at infuriating one another—we’ve been doing it since we were kids. Trouble is, she grew up gorgeous and feisty, and she still knows exactly how to get under my skin. And that wedding night? Well, it doesn’t exactly go down hands-free. Then she moves in with me, and I really start to lose my mind. From her sexy little pout to her wicked sense of humor to those meatball sandwiches she makes just because she knows they’re my favorite . . . I find myself wanting to break every rule we put in place. Our story was never supposed to end with happily ever after. But call me crazy, I just might be in love with my wife.”  Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Bianca DeRossi and Enzo Moretti are the main characters of this story. Enzo’s parents give him an ultimatum if he wants to inherit the family business he needs to be married. Enzo fears that his younger brother will beat him out for the business as he is already married and has three kids. Enzo has known Bianca since they were kids. Both families are fiercely Italian and very traditional. Bianca is an interior designer who also buys and flips houses on the side. Enzo does the same thing so he and Bianca often get competitive about it. Bianca’s personality is best described by the behaviour she exhibited in high school when Enzo’s parents and hers forced Enzo to take her to the dance. Bianca brought a copy of Twilight and refused to hang out with Enzo all night. Setting: Bellamy Creek is the small-town setting of this novel. It is such a cute little town, a classic Melanie Harlow setting. Pacing: The story was paced really well as Melanie treated the reader to an equal amount of character development and love story. As Bianca and Enzo stumble into this marriage they both grew as people as they were forced to come to terms with what they wanted in their lives. Romance: So Enzo obviously needs to find a wife to inherit the family business but Bianca was nowhere near his first choice. They have bickered constantly their entire lives. Bianca decides to take the risk of marrying Enzo because her biological clock is ticking. She has PCOS so she needs to get pregnant sooner rather than later. Bianca and Enzo sit down and over plates of pasta craft a master plan to fake date, get married and have a baby with a little help from a lab. The early books include so many cute scenes including when they were going to tell their parents they were engaged. They studied up on each other and Enzo even picked out the nickname “mia polpetta,” my little meatball for Bianca. The wedding night leads them to pursue getting pregnant in the bedroom instead. From then on the line between real and fake in their relationship begins to blur. They both have to face the fact that they may want to build more than a family together, they may want to build a life; a future together. Call Me Crazy receives five out of five stars.
