Check out the Goodreads synopsis below… “From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men series comes an irresistible and suspenseful romance between a tough Texas Ranger and his first love–a woman in danger who insists she doesn’t need his protection.Hill Gamble is a model lawman: cool and collected, with a confident swagger to boot. Too bad all that Texas charm hasn’t gotten him anywhere in his personal life, especially since the only girl he ever loved has always been off-limits. But then Hill is assigned to investigate her father’s mysterious death, and he’s forced back to the town–and the woman–he left behind. When Hill left Loveless, he broke Kody Lawton’s already battered heart. Suddenly, Kody realizes that Hill could be taken away from her…for good.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Kody and Hill are the main characters. Kody is the type of woman I would never recommend messing with. In the face of all the trauma, she has faced in the previous books it was wonderful to finally be in her head and to see the world how he sees it. Hill is that big softie, he has the type of career and type of background that requires a hard exterior. Throughout his point of view, we see moments of his dynamic multi-dimensional character. Setting: Loveless, Texas is the small-town setting of Jay’s latest series. The town lends itself as a character of the story, as gossip and rumours fly through the town quickly it adds drama to the story. Romance: Kody and Hill’s background is something I do not want to spoil, you have to go read it for yourself. Their history made it so much more worth it when they finally admitted to their feelings. These two are the type of people who are so reluctant to allow someone else to care of them, so watching them give in and let it happen was so amazing. Unforgiven receives four out of five stars. Jennifer L. Armentrout and the team at InkSlingerPR for the advanced e-copy of The King, the latest tale in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Wicked Series. I have been a huge JLA fan for a long time, with the Wicked series being one of my absolute favourites from her. I love any excuse to revisit the world she has cultivated with fae in New Orleans. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “As Caden and Brighton’s attraction grows despite the odds stacked against a happily ever after, they must work together to stop an Ancient fae from releasing the Queen, who wants nothing more than to see Caden become the evil Prince once feared by fae and mortals alike.” Read my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Brighton is another strong-willed protagonist in the vein of Ivy, the protagonist of the three previous books. She doesn’t take no for an answer and wants to take control of her own life through the retribution of her mother’s death. Caden or the King is still a bit of mystery but he became much more clear as this story unfolded. The King struggles with the choices he has ahead in his future and they dictate his character and his choices. Setting: New Orleans is such a cool setting for an urban fantasy story. Perfect setting, couldn’t ask for anything better. Pacing: I am such a fast reader than novellas tend to feel too short to me, but this one felt just right. Of course, I wanted it to keep going and luckily we are getting two more novellas about Brighton and Caden. Romance: Both Brighton and Caden have been through a lot, and going into this story they both have the same goal, to murder the man who in Brighton’s case murdered her mother and in Caden’s case a boatload of reasons. This baggage they are bringing into their present is why they are so deserving of being happy and being together. They are an unconventional couple, but it makes so much sense as they already fight like an old married couple. I am looking forward to watching their love story unfold. If I haven’t convinced you yet, check out this excerpt below… “I don’t think this is wise,” Tink said for what had to be the hundredth time since he realized I was getting ready for a night out. “Like I think this is very poorly thought-out, if you ask me, Lite Bright.”   “I didn’t ask you, Tink.”    My uninvited roommate of sorts hovered outside my bathroom. Tink wasn’t human, but right now, he looked like any normal twenty-something guy. Well, if normal, twenty-something guys had natural, shockingly white hair and were beautiful in a way that almost seemed fragile.   This was his full-grown Tink size, something I was still—even after all this time—getting used to. I was more accustomed to pint-sized Tink with the translucent wings.   After all, he was a brownie.   After the attack that had taken my mother’s life and should’ve ended mine, he’d basically moved in with me. He’d been here for the last two years, something Ivy’s husband pretended to be grateful for, but in reality, I knew he secretly missed the dude.   “You should ask me,” he replied. When I glanced over at him, I got a little distracted by the dazzle…emanating from the sequin tank top he wore. It was so shimmery that I wondered if he was using some of his magic.   Tink may be a goofball, but he was also one of the most powerful creatures in our realm.   Thank God there was only one of him.   “I am a wealth of amazing advice,” he continued. Dixon, the cat he’d named after a Walking Dead character that Tink called “the hottest redneck eva” slinked around Tink’s ankles. The cat was all gray except for his tail, which looked like it had been dipped in white paint.   I snorted. “When have you ever given me good advice?”   “When I told you two weeks ago not to eat the whole carton of beignets because you’d get sick and you did,” he shot back.   I winced, picking up my mascara. I had gotten sick, but I deserved that carton of sugary, fried goodness. That day…   I didn’t want to think about that day.   “And what about when you ordered that supreme pizza and ate almost all of it?” he said. “I told you that it would probably make you feel bad later.”   Nose wrinkling, I tried to remember what night he was talking about. There were a lot of Friday nights—pizza night in my household—that I ate an entire pie and felt terrible afterward.   “Or how about that time I told you that the seared ahi tuna looked a little gray for my liking? But, oh no, Brighton knows better.” He reached down, scratching Dixon between the ears. “You ate it all, and then I spent the night cleaning up your puke.”   Ew.” The King receives five out of five stars Follow JLA on all of her socials below… Website: https://jenniferlarmentrout.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JenniferLArmentroutTwitter: https://twitter.com/JLArmentroutInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennifer_l_armentrout/Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4476934.Jennifer_L_ArmentroutBookbub: https://www.bookbub.com/authors/jennifer-l-armentrout Thank you again to Jennifer L. Perri is this strong female character. She is a police officer who is dedicated to her job. While Derek shines in his interactions as Uncle Derek to his sister’s kids. Setting: It takes place in a small town in California, and has this small town everyone knows each other feel. It is the same town as Lauren’s previous story, Best Laid Plans. Romance: The romance is what makes this book shine. Perri and Derek have an adorable meet cute, and then keep getting thrust together in funny ways from the kissing contest practice to Derek as Perri’s new roommate. Both of them are stubborn about being in a relationship which only makes it more rewarding when they finally begin to admit that they like each other. The Feel Good Factor receives four of out five stars. If I haven’t convinced you yet check out this excerpt… ~PERRI~ “Hey, officer. I think you might have been walking too fast through the market.” The hairs on my neck stand on end. That gravelly, too-sexy-for-words tone delivers a wave of sensation across my skin.  It could only be Mr. Trouble.  With an avocado in hand, I turn around, and my eyes feast. How is it possible for him to be even hotter today? Is this a trick only the handsomest men can employ? The ability to multiply their good looks?  Somehow, maybe a trick of the light, he’s exponentially sexier in those shades, his gray T-shirt showing off swirls of ink, and jeans so well-worn they cling caressingly to his legs.  Lucky jeans.  But it’s his face, most of all, that draws me in as soon as he flicks off his glasses and I get a full dose of dark, soulful brown eyes full of naughty wishes.  Oh, wait. Maybe those are my naughty wishes reflected back at me.  Because I want him.  Do I ever. I want to climb him, rope my hands through his hair, and haul him in for a wild kiss.  Whoa.  That bout of desire was brought to you today by what-happens-when-lust-slams-into-you-like-a-freight-train. “Gee, was I speed-walking?” I toss out, mainly to keep him standing there, because I’m mesmerized next by his tattoos. Sunbursts and tribal bands curl over his sinewy arms, and I’d like to like them. I’d like to know if he’s inked elsewhere and how far, or how low, the artwork on his body descends.  To his hips? The top of his ass? The V of his abs?  A woman can dream.  With a tilt of his head and a far-too-knowing grin, he answers, “Let me guess. You either didn’t realize it, or you have someplace real important to be?” “So important. I have to…” I trail off then make my voice as husky as can be as I set down my avocado, “…make guacamole.” “You don’t say,” he rasps, his low baritone caressing me all over. “I could help you with that, officer.” “Are you Mr. Avocado Farmer?” “I’m Mr. I Can Show You How Ripe They Are.” He steps into the booth, moving next to me, getting into my space.  Closer than he needs to be.  A tremble rolls over my shoulders as he crowds me. “Let’s see.” He strokes his neat beard, and I rein in a whimper. I want my hands on that scruff.  He studies the sea of avocados, reaching for one at last and then sliding even closer, so his shoulder touches mine. It’s the match to my kindling and strikes a fire inside me.  If anyone tried to tell me a woman doesn’t have a type, I’d call that person a liar.  I have a type, and the type lights me up from sea to shining sea.   He cups the fruit in his palm, then brings it near my chest. I draw a quick breath, then flick my hair off my shoulders.  “By the way,” he says, “I like your hair up, but I fucking love it down.” Dead. I am dead from desire.  Before I can reply—I’m honestly not sure I can form intelligible words—he rubs his other hand over the rind. “See, you want to find the one that’s ripe and”—he pauses and turns his face to meet my gaze, his dark eyes holding mine—“ready to eat.” A shudder hijacks my body. “Is that so?” I don’t need a tutorial in picking avocados. Please. I know how to pick them just fine.  But I want his lesson. Want to hear his voice. Watch those hands move. Feel him slide closer.  “It’ll feel slightly soft, and it’ll yield to just the right amount of gentle pressure.” And that pressure builds between my legs, an insistent throb. “How do you tell if it’s enough pressure?” He pushes a thumb against the flesh of the fruit, making a husky hum low in his throat. “Just like that. See how it responds?” “How’s it responding?” He turns, angling his body nearer to me, his dark eyes shining with desire as he roams them over my face, my hair, my breasts. “Just the way I like it.” This man is going to ruin me in the best possible way.  While I don’t have the time or inclination for dating, dinners, or fitting someone into my very busy schedule, I’m pretty sure I could deal with a little ruination. With a tilt of his head and a far-too-knowing grin, he answers, “Let me guess. You either didn’t realize it, or you have someplace real important to be?”

“So important. I have to…” I trail off then make my voice as husky as can be as I set down my avocado, “…make guacamole.”

“You don’t say,” he rasps, his low baritone caressing me all over. “I could help you with that, officer.”

“Are you Mr. Avocado Farmer?”

“I’m Mr.

“By the way,” he says, “I like your hair up, but I fucking love it down.”

Dead.

I am dead from desire.

Before I can reply—I’m honestly not sure I can form intelligible words—he rubs his other hand over the rind. “See, you want to find the one that’s ripe and”—he pauses and turns his face to meet my gaze, his dark eyes holding mine—“ready to eat.”

A shudder hijacks my body. “Is that so?”

I don’t need a tutorial in picking avocados. Please. I know how to pick them just fine.

But I want his lesson. Want to hear his voice. Watch those hands move. Feel him slide closer.

“It’ll feel slightly soft, and it’ll yield to just the right amount of gentle pressure.”

And that pressure builds between my legs, an insistent throb. “How do you tell if it’s enough pressure?”

He pushes a thumb against the flesh of the fruit, making a husky hum low in his throat. “Just like that. See how it responds?”

“How’s it responding?”

He turns, angling his body nearer to me, his dark eyes shining with desire as he roams them over my face, my hair, my breasts. “Just the way I like it.”

This man is going to ruin me in the best possible way.

While I don’t have the time or inclination for dating, dinners, or fitting someone into my very busy schedule, I’m pretty sure I could deal with a little ruination.

Yes, I could definitely do with getting ruined.

I want to thank Lauren Blakely and InkSlingerPR for the advance e-copy of Birthday Suit.

From Goodreads: “There is no rule in the Man Code as unbreakable as this: no matter how beautiful, smart, clever, and witty she is, do not—under any circumstances—fall in love with your best friend’s woman.
Yeah. So there’s that. Look, it’s not like I didn’t know I screwed up by falling for her.
Also, for the record, unrequited love sucks big time.
And, I might have cut myself some slack by now, given everything that went down in the last few years, but Lulu just walked back into my life in a big way.

***

There are three things I’ve never been able to resist—
my friends, my family, and chocolate.
Leo Hennessy? He was nowhere on that list. He’s been a true friend—a friend who walked through hell and back with me.
Now, I’m stepping into my new future. I didn’t expect it to include a riddle-filled, race-against-the-clock scavenger hunt across New York City.
With Leo.
Suddenly, I’m looking at this man with new eyes…
But my life spun out because of a man once before, and I can’t risk my fresh start, no matter what the temptation.
And Leo is most definitely a temptation of the sexiest, sweetest, and most dangerous variety.
More irresistibly delicious than chocolate…

Below I break down my review into the components I value most in my reading experience:

  • Characters: Lulu and Leo both had this sense of maturity around them and both of them have a past that deeply effects where they are in their lives in Birthday Suit. I don’t want to tell you much because spoilers, it is essential things are revealed to you as you read.
  • World/Setting: New York City is always a great setting.
  • Pacing: This one felt a little different from Lauren’s other stories, but the slow pace fit this story and the characters perfectly.
  • Romance: This was a unique take as it was sort of a second chance romance, but it also was not. You really have to go into it blind, trust me.

If you haven’t be convinced yet, here is an excerpt…

“I take a moment to add up the facts, only the facts.
Lulu is here.
She’s living in New York.
I’m living in New York.
I’m about to add in one more fact, but I can’t in good conscience go there.
Besides, my heart is pounding too fast.
It’s from the incident, I tell myself.
It’s from the adrenaline rush.
It’s not from feelings.
I don’t feel a thing.
I leave the men’s room, take a drink from the water fountain, and wipe my hand across my mouth.
When I look up, she’s there.
With outstretched arms, she spins in a circle, waiting for an appraisal of her new outfit.
Her new, jaw-dropping, sexy-as-sin, might-as-well-throw-in-the-towel-and-raise-the-white-flag-of-surrender outfit.

What the hell was I thinking?
I clearly wasn’t using my brain at all. Because she’s even more alluring in this garb.

I’m not going to lie, I broke down in tears when I received this ARC. I have been a huge fan of Jay Crownover for years. To have this opportunity to read and review one of her books for this blog is mindblowing to me. This feels such an accomplishment in my blog’s journey. Here is the synopsis: “Can two people perpetually moving in opposite directions ever end up in the same place? Or will love just keep giving them the runaround? Webb Bryant is intimately acquainted with every type of trouble there is. Trouble is all he’s ever known and the only constant in his life. Webb’s a man constantly on the move. He’s a drifter. A wanderer. He bolts from one bad choice to the next, never able to put enough distance between himself and the ghosts from his past. He lives hard and fast until everything comes to a screeching halt the moment he lays eyes on Tennyson McKenna. The stunning woman appeared out of nowhere to save the day, and Webb’s been unable to forget her. The leggy, blonde forest ranger might very well be the one person in the world important enough to finally keep him in one place. Only, Ten isn’t impressed by Webb’s knack for finding trouble. And no matter how hard he tries to shake it, he can’t escape his bad habit of falling into the deep end of questionable decisions. When his newest brush with trouble gets Webb in way over his head, Ten jumps after him into the dangerous waters. It’s possible they’re going to sink so fast they both might drown. Tennyson McKenna makes it a point to be diligently cautious in all aspects of her life. She learned the hard way that leading with your heart instead of your head gets you nowhere. Ten’s a woman stuck in a frustrating rut. After a string of failed relationships lands her back home, a pit stop to mend her broken heart becomes a hole she’s lost the will to dig herself out of. Coasting through her days was easy until Webb Bryant crash-landed in her path, complete with bullets, blood, and a grin far too charming for his own good. Webb is anything but safe and predictable. He’s everything Ten swore she would never gamble on again, but it’s impossible to ignore the way trouble follows him around like a shadow. And every single time Ten pushes Webb away, she finds herself chasing after him before he’s gone for good. When Webb’s past finally catches up to him, Ten has to decide if she’s brave enough to put her heart on the line for a man who might be gone tomorrow.“ My thoughts below as always will be spoiler free… Characters: Webb and Ten were great protagonists. Ten was very different than the other women of this series and I loved how unique she felt. I think any women reading this could not help admire her while also relating to her, which is a difficult combo to hit. Webb was also great. Just like Ten I loved his charming words, so good! World/Setting: The setting is primarily the Wyoming town of the previous installments. There is also time spent in Loveless, Texas which was a fun preview of what is to come in Jay’s series releasing next year (*hint*). Pacing: This one reads like a dream. This was the perfect length. Romance (yay or nay?): When does Jay not hit the romance out of the park?! What I loved about Webb and Ten is that rather than seeing their relationship as something neither of them deserved, they both believed in it from the very start. If you aren’t convinced yet, here’s an excerpt:  ~TENNYSON~ The first time I laid eyes on Webb Bryant he was frighteningly pale from blood loss and nearly delirious from a raging fever. He’d been sporting a hole in his shoulder from a bullet wound and was terrified his brother was dead somewhere in the vast Wyoming wilderness. It was my job to protect and patrol, one I focused on diligently, but Webb was admittedly distracting. I thought he was going to pass out at my feet, a city boy in way over his head. He didn’t. He never wavered or stumbled in the unfamiliar terrain and unknown situation…not once. He’d impressed me with his resilience and his determination to find out what had happened to his older brother. He’d also caught my attention with those burning blue eyes and shock of blond hair, which gave the misleading impression that the man had a single angelic quality about him. Every long, lean line of Webb Bryant oozed playful mischief and bled the promise of wicked things done in the dark…or during the bright light of day. He didn’t seem like the shy type. Even injured and out of his mind with frantic worry for his older sibling, he was the most charming, most flirtatious man I’d ever met. He sent every defense mechanism I had into overdrive, and there wasn’t a second that slid by where I didn’t remind myself he was not my type in the slightest. Besides, once the Warners and I had both the Bryant brothers straightened out, I figured I wouldn’t have to dodge Webb’s advances ever again. He would ramble on to his next adventure and be out of sight and mind. I breathed a sigh of relief when he went away. He was too tempting. It was too enticing to give in to every single promise made by his easy smile and glinting eyes. Webb was several years younger than me, a man who was obviously lost and still trying to figure out who he wanted to be when he finally grew up. I was a woman who knew exactly who she was and who she could never be. I was never the type to chase after the bad boys, the wanderers, the reckless. No, I fell for the steadfast, the sturdy, and the solid. I gave my heart to the kind of men who held the world up and buffered everyone around them from the raging storm. I handed my heart to the oldest Warner brother, Cyrus, when we were just kids. Coming to terms with the fact the stoic and serious cowboy would never feel about me the way I felt about him had been one of the hardest things I’d ever had to do. We shared similar dreams, knowing our lives were so much bigger than the ranches that had our family’s bloodlines entrenched in the soil. We both wanted more than Wyoming, and for a long time, I honestly believed we were on the road out of our tiny town together. It didn’t happen that way. Sure, we both got out in our own time and in our own way, but we both ended up back where we started. Cy was taking his return home in stride. He was far less resentful about his homecoming than I was. In fact, the wedding Webb was dragged out of two short days ago was Cy’s. I thought it was going to be hard, damn near impossible, to watch the man I’d openly loved from afar for most of my life promise his forever to someone else. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I envisioned. Mostly because Cy was stupid happy with his fiery city girl. He’d never been that happy with me, before we left or when we both admitted defeat and came back home. He’d never loved anyone like he loved his Leo, so the sting of watching him put a ring on someone else’s finger was minimal. I would gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon before admitting to anyone, especially myself, that since the start of the wedding most of my attention had been on Webb instead of the happy couple. To my surprise, my heart didn’t feel nearly as trampled as I thought it would. It was too busy stupidly racing over the man I believed I wouldn’t see again and knew I should keep my distance from. The blond man with a penchant for trouble hadn’t stayed gone like I predicted. Nope. He’d shown up right when Cy needed help on the ranch and offered to stick around. Webb claimed he wanted to learn a new skill, seemed he’d taken a shine to the rough way of life in the Wyoming backcountry and wanted to play cowboy for a while. Cy couldn’t say no, and as badly as I wanted to, I couldn’t stay away. I was caught in an endless game of cat and mouse, and some days I wasn’t sure if I was the predator or the prey. I tracked Webb out of the corner of my eye for months. I expected him to up his game and try to lure me to bed, knowing the wedding was going to lower my defenses. Never in a million years would I have predicted he was going to be led away from the festivities in handcuffs. Thank you so much, Jay Crownover and InkSlingerPR for the advance copy of Runaround, which is out today!

When Webb’s past finally catches up to him, Ten has to decide if she’s brave enough to put her heart on the line for a man who might be gone tomorrow.

My thoughts below as always will be spoiler free…

After all, if you’re going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops. There’s only one little problem. My college girlfriend isn’t the one who shows up when I play my “I’ll do anything to win you back” tune. The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she’ll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that’s what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. And boy, do I ever need that. Now I don’t want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who’s been helping me all along. Trouble is – she thinks I’m in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out. ***He’s the last person I ever expected to pop into my life, but he might be exactly what I need to save the thing that matters most to me. All I have to do is not fall for him.” Below I break down my review into the components I value most in my reading experience: Characters: Finley and Tom were both unique among all of Lauren’s previous characters. Finley is a TV comedy writer, which made for her to be funny and such an enjoyable protagonist. Tom’s journey over the course of the story was well developed and it was great to see him grow so much. World/Setting: The book takes place all over California. There’s a road trip sequence, which is great.  Pacing: No complaints, always good. Romance (yay or nay?):  This romance was unique, just like the characters are. I really liked how it built and how for the characters it was a lot about understanding their past relationship mistakes. Once they began to understand their faults, their relationship only grew further.  Get your copy today…Amazon (*affiliate*): https://amzn.to/2PDv72e You can keep in touch with Lauren Blakely at the links below… Website ** Facebook ** Twitter ** Newsletter ** Goodreads Thank you again to Lauren Blakely and the InkSlingerPR team for the eARC. I am so excited to be apart of the team revealing the cover of Jay Crownover’s newest release, Runaround (the fourth book in the Getaway series) which releases on December 14th!

Now what you have all been waiting for, the cover…

Here’s the synopsis: “Can two people perpetually moving in opposite directions ever end up in the same place? Or will love just keep giving them the runaround?

Webb Bryant is intimately acquainted with every type of trouble there is. Trouble is all he’s ever known and the only constant in his life.

Webb’s a man constantly on the move. He’s a drifter. A wanderer. He bolts from one bad choice to the next, never able to put enough distance between himself and the ghosts from his past. He lives hard and
fast, until everything comes to a screeching halt the moment he lays eyes on Tennyson McKenna.

When Webb’s past finally catches up to him, Ten has to decide if she’s brave enough to put her heart on the line for a man who might be gone tomorrow.

Who doesn’t love a new release from Lauren Blakely, they are always such enjoyable reads. Now what you have been waiting for, the cover… Photography by Wander Aguiar Cover Design by Helen Williams   Here is the reveal of the synopsis: “She’s the ultimate off-limits woman…There are only three rules in life you should truly follow to the letter. One: Always make time to help a buddy. Two: Definitely turn down that last tequila shot. And three: Absolutely, no matter how beautiful, smart, clever and witty she is, do not–under any circumstances–fall in love with your best friend’s woman. Oops. Seems I missed following that last one. And the trouble is, she just walked back into my life in a big way…. Pass the tequila. *** There are three things I’ve never been able to resist — my friends, my family, and chocolate. Leo Hennessy? He was nowhere on that list. He’s been a friend and only that. A friend who walked through hell and back with me. Now, I’m stepping into my new future, and I didn’t expect it to include a riddle-filled, race-against-the-clock scavenger hunt across New York City. With Leo. Suddenly, I’m looking at this man with new eyes… But I can’t risk a temptation as I start over and Leo is most definitely a temptation of the sexiest, sweetest, and most dangerous variety. Here is the reveal of the synopsis: “She’s the ultimate off-limits woman…There are only three rules in life you should truly follow to the letter.

There are three things I’ve never been able to resist — my friends, my family, and chocolate. Leo Hennessy? He was nowhere on that list. He’s been a friend and only that. A friend who walked through hell and back with me.

Now, I’m stepping into my new future, and I didn’t expect it to include a riddle-filled, race-against-the-clock scavenger hunt across New York City.

With Leo.

Suddenly, I’m looking at this man with new eyes…

But I can’t risk a temptation as I start over and Leo is most definitely a temptation of the sexiest, sweetest, and most dangerous variety.

More delicious than chocolate…
