I cannot even explain how excited I get whenever Fiona announces we are returning to the Voyeur world. It means so much to me and is one of my favourite contemporary romance worlds to inhabit. When he said his vows, he told me how much he loved my determination and strength. If I wanted it, I got it. Except now all I want is to have his baby. And for the first time ever, no matter how much I want it, no amount of strength and determination can make it happen. She is the most endearing brat ever. My heart ached for her while reading this. Fiona did such a good job describing the totality of Olivia’s pain. Kent, is just always such a charmer. I really like how he had to go on his own journey of figuring out how to support his wife. Every time he doubted that he was enough for her at his age broke my heart a little. Setting: The story is set in Cincinnati. We only got a bit of club Voyeur but I loved every bit of it. Plus in this story, we almost take Voyeur on the road for a little bit. That was a lot of fun. Plus because this is set in the larger Voyeur world and all our characters overlap, don’t worry long-time readers will love all the cameos. I adore all these characters so much. Pacing: The book flew by and I read it at breakneck speed. I stayed up late reading because I loved it too much to put it down before it was done. Romance: I love Olivia and Kent’s romance and it is very special. Fiona writes age-gap romance so incredibly well. This story is such a testament that authors can write dynamic stories about after the happily ever after. Without having to do a huge delete on all the character development of the previous instalment. Fiona really depicted well how a relationship requires time, effort, work, communication and vulnerability. Falter receives five out of five stars. Thank you to Fiona Cole and her team for the advance reader copy of Falter, the next book in the Voyeur world and the continuation of Olivia and Kent’s story.

With each negative test, my confidence wavers and I start to lose sight of who I am.

Each month, my doubt swells, creating a space between us.

Through it all, I know I’m his.

But will he still be mine when we falter?

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: I love Olivia so much and was so happy to be back in her head, bratty as it is.
  • Setting: The story is set in Cincinnati.
  • Pacing: The book flew by and I read it at breakneck speed. I stayed up late reading because I loved it too much to put it down before it was done.
  • Romance: I love Olivia and Kent’s romance and it is very special.

I have adored the Blame it on the Alcohol books so far. Next up is a friends-to-lovers romance coupled with an accidental Vegas wedding! Always a fun plot point. A bit of a trigger warning, if reading about depictions of domestic abuse upsets you in any way this story may not be for you. “What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Especially when you wake up married to your best friend. Don’t miss Raelynn and Austin’s friend-to-lovers romance, Blame it on the Vodka, coming April 21st. Waking up beside my best friend after a crazy night in Vegas is nothing new. However, waking up wearing nothing but two shiny, matching wedding rings is. For the girl who promised to never settle down, it’s her worst nightmare. For me, it’s a dream come true. I’ve wanted Raelynn Vos since she first propositioned me at a frat party. I, of course, turned her down, knowing I’d need more than a one night stand. Nothing less than forever would do. She’s fierce and determined, but I’m more determined than she could ever be. When fate forces us to pretend our marriage is real, I use every second to prove I’m the perfect man to tame her wildness. In fact, by the end of our charade, I’ll have her begging for it.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Austin and Rae are best friends and have been since college. Rae is a marketer and socialite, her father is running for senate and she is a bit famous. He adopted Rae when he married her mother. Austin really likes Rae and always has, he was attracted to her instantly. He has always wanted something more. As this is the last book of the series I loved all the detail put into having the gals and their guys be a part of Rae’s story. Setting: Our story opens in Las Vegas as Parker and Nova from Blame it on the Tequila, are getting married. That is what lures Rae and Austin to Sin City. The other setting that really shines in this story is the farm Austin’s grandparents own, the place where he grew up. Pacing: I found this story took me some time to get hooked. But once I was in, it flew by. The ending also felt a bit rushed. I liked the choices Fiona made not only in wrapping up this story but the entire series. This story features some sensitive topics which were explored in a very meaningful way. I loved the exploration of themes such as the feelings of fault, shame and embarrassment. Fiona did a good job of exploring why people stay, the warning signs and the importance of a community to support you. Romance: This was such an interesting friends-to-lovers, accidental marriage romance. I really liked the juxtaposition Fiona Cole showcased. How Austin holds marriage so sacred and only wants to get married once in his life. While Rae is such a skeptic, she has sworn off marriage. I loved how Austin just loved Rae and wanted to make the most of what they drunkenly stumbled into. This book was also very steamy, something I was expecting and very much appreciate from Fiona. She knocks these out of the park and even I would have liked some of the more hardcore elements explored even more. I find getting accidentally married in Vegas stories feel repetitive, if you are going to read one I would highly recommend this one. It definitely stands out among the pack. Blame it on the Vodka receives four out of five stars. Linde’s: One Cruel Wedding Night asks is if an arranged marriage equals no love. This story features Camden, the heir to a hotel fortune and Katherine who is now penniless. Her father committed fraud and now her only option is this arranged marriage. This villain romance had great sexual tension. I loved how it was set at their wedding and the hot scenes that came with it. 4 stars. Skye Warren’s: Two Turtle Doves features Gabriel and Avery fan favourite characters of Skye’s. I have not read any of her Endgame series, I feel bad that I could not appreciate all the character cameos. For those who have this is definitely going to be a treat for you. 3 stars. Fiona Cole’s: Goner is the best story in this anthology! Fuck I loved this story. First off I am a huge fan of Fiona and the world of Voyeur, so yes I am biased. There is a great cameo from a beloved couple. They get in the mix with the new characters and it is a super hot scene. I love the setting of blur and I could read like ten more books in this world. Amara and Atlas have great chemistry. This book has everything, F/F/M, F/F/F, and M/F. 5 stars. Giana Darling’s: Swan Song is about Finnegan aka Curtains of the Fallen MC. This story was pretty good but I expected more from Giana. I am a huge fan of her motorcycle romances and I wanted this to be steamier. I did really enjoy the characters and the mystery surrounding them. 4 stars. Claire Contreras’s: Five Golden Rings is Deliah and Rory’s story. This story was not very memorable. The sex was hot though. I loved how the rings referenced in the title were incorporated into the story. 3 stars. Nikki Sloane’s: On the Sixth Day is a story of a throuple. Clay, Travis & Lilith are from The Architect. I enjoyed this story so much, I plan to pick up their story. Their sex scene was incredibly hot. I loved the balance between the sex and plot in this story. 5 stars. Nana Malone’s: Four Calling Birds is Bryna and Lucas’ story. I did enjoy that this story had a heist aspect to it and how it led to a very hot hookup. But overall I did not get super invested in this story. 3 stars. C.D. Reiss’s: Nine Ladies Dancing was a bit of an odd story. It really did not click with me, as I did not like any of the characters. It took me forever to read and it had my putting the book down rather than devouring the story as I should be. 2 stars. Sierra Simone’s: My Present This Year is about step-siblings Nick and Nora. This story is so hot and well of course it is it is written by the queen of steamy smut Sierra Simone. This story was my second favourite in the anthology. With perfect pacing, the tension was built between step-siblings who have been struggling to keep their hands to themselves. You cannot help but buy into their feelings and start to cheer them on. 5 stars. Laurelin Paige’s: Ten Dirty Deeds exudes tension and oozed steaminess. I loved the concept of the 10 deeds and how it was incorporated. I know Laurelin has written about these characters before, but I have never read that story. Sabrina and Donovan are from Dirty Flirty Rich Men, and they seem like a very fun, hot and dirty couple. 4 stars. M. Malone’s: Gift Me is Noelle and Deacon’s adorably nerdy romance. I loved this romance of two people who have been pining for each other for quite a while. This story was one of the sweetest and most romantic ones in the anthology rather than something sexy or steamy. 4 stars. Angelina M. Lopez’s: Twelve Drummers is Sabrina Ramirez’s story. This story was really unique and its inspiration was super cool. This Aztec-inspired tale is one of the steamiest in the anthology. The hotness of this story is quite something, but its lack of plot keeps the rating a bit lower for me. 3 stars. Twelve Naughty Days receives four out of five stars. This story releases on May 27th! I love love love Fiona Cole and her romances that are equal parts a treat and a taboo. The blurb of this story had me begging for this ARC. It’s a rockstar romance, a second chance romance, and a step-brother/step-sister romance. So much goodness rolled up in one sweet package. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “It started on a dance floor after too much tequila and ended with looking into the handsome face I never thought I’d see again. In person, at least. I saw his face all the time on magazine covers. To the world, he’s Parker Callahan—famous rockstar. To me, he was the boy I loved, the stepbrother who left me behind to follow his dreams. After our tequila-fueled encounter, he wants me back but that’s not a road I’m ready to walk down again. He broke my heart once, and even five years later, I’m not sure I could handle another blow. When a once-in-a-lifetime offer comes my way, even my broken heart isn’t enough for me to be able to turn it down. I agree to join the band’s tour and help Parker write his next album–but this time I’m not falling in love. This time I’ll walk away. But if there is one thing life has taught me, it’s that love never goes according to plan—especially when Parker is involved.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Nova is our protagonist she is an extremely unique character. Her fatal flaw is that she keeps running away from her problems and this haunts her during this entire story. I related quite a bit to Nova and her journey and how she grew more comfortable with her sensuality. Parker helped her do that. Parker is a rockstar with a heart of gold. Setting: The band is on tour for the vast majority of the tour so there is not one particular setting that stands out except for the tour bus itself. With the bunk bed-sharing and the camaraderie of the band, I could not help but love the close quarters. The other guys in the band were great and there is this super fun scene where they play truth or kiss. Just one of many scenes I adored. Pacing: There was a slight pacing issue, as in maybe the big reveal was too late. That may have caused it to be a bit rushed at the end. What I will say is that I found myself getting continually surprised which is not something that I usually get out of romance reads. Romance: I loved the sensuality of this romance. So many great taboo aspects it reminded me of Shame Me Not, one of my faves from Fiona. This story though in a similar vein is about learning, experiencing and embracing your kinks. On that note, there were some A+ hot to maximum level scenes in this book. Nova and Parker have the type of romance where they could never have loved other people. The roadblocks kept challenging them, yet they only got stronger. I loved them and I loved this book! Blame it on the Tequila receives five out of five stars. With the bunk bed-sharing and the camaraderie of the band, I could not help but love the close quarters. The other guys in the band were great and there is this super fun scene where they play truth or kiss. Just one of many scenes I adored.
  • Pacing: There was a slight pacing issue, as in maybe the big reveal was too late. That may have caused it to be a bit rushed at the end. What I will say is that I found myself getting continually surprised which is not something that I usually get out of romance reads.
  • Romance: I loved the sensuality of this romance.

This story was previously in Stories of September, but now Fiona brings an extended story to the table. I absolutely adored the story in its first iteration as I have always been a huge fan of Fiona’s previous take on the student-professor trope. If you have never read Voyeur, please do; it is phenomenal! So I jumped at the chance to review the extended version of Willem and Arabella’s love story. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “After a year of traveling abroad, my parents finally trap my free-spirit into college. Even worse, my dad’s former-stepbrother has a room with my name on it. The only thing I remember about Uncle Willem is his boring button down shirts and quiet demeanor. Except the rugged man who opens his home to me—filling out his tshirt better than any person should,—is not the man I remember. Standing here drooling over his easy dimpled smile, I wonder if I really looked at him at all. Because Willem is anything but boring and, based on the way his eyes linger of my ripped jeans and thin shirt, he anything but bored by me. Add in that he’s a professor at my college and my major went from ‘undecided’ to ‘him’. He tried to hold back, but I have other plans in mind. College can’t start soon enough. I can’t wait to misbehave and get sent to the professors office. All I need is a little while and Professor Willem will be mine. *Previously published in the USA Today Bestselling anthology, Stories of September. Now with bonus chapters and an extended epilogue.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Willem and Arabella are the main characters of this short, sweet, and sinful story from Fiona. Arabella may only be nineteen but with months of European travel under her belt, she is passionate, determined, and confident. Having struck a bargain with her parents she reluctantly enrols in her first year of university and moves in with Uncle Willem. Except Willem is only sorta her uncle, he was her father’s stepbrother so it has always been a strained relationship. Willem is the hottie economic professor at the university so it makes sense for Arabella to stay with him, he can drop her off in the mornings. What no one in their family predicted was the off-the-charts chemistry they would have. Setting: Cincinnati, Ohio is where both the university and Willem are based. It’s where all of Fiona’s books are set. You’ll recognize the same university from Voyeur, it is where Oaklyn attended and where Callum taught. The local bar is a major setting in the story and what it brings to the story is a hot seething jealously out of Will. I loved watching the angst between them and how jealous he got when Arabella hung out with younger men. Pacing: This was a short story in the Stories of September anthology, but with bonus chapters and a longer epilogue. Fiona’s additions make the story richer, she gives more space for them to build their friendship first. To allow them to bond over shared interests before it bubbles over to a romance. Romance: This relationship has an ease to it. They have great chemistry, great friendship, and are great in bed together. Just for a little while ties directly to them sharing hugs that last just a little while too long. Like these two made hugs incredibly hot, you gotta pick up this story! I am so excited that Fiona Cole is back! And with a fabulous new world of new stories with new characters. Who does not love one of those marriages of convenience tropes? We all know a set up like that is in good hands with Fiona’s storytelling. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “There’s only one thing to do when you wake up, married to your brand new boss, whom you hate but can’t resist: You blame the champagne. I blame the bubbles for my wild night with a masked stranger. Who cares if it’s nothing this good girl would normally do–with a man that turns out to be my horrible boss? Who cares that I’m promised to someone else? I blame the alcohol for agreeing to marry him. As long as my new husband keeps his mouth shut, I can survive five years of our little arrangement. It’s too late for anything else. But our impromptu wedding leads to so much more than I bargained for. His dirty promises warm me. His kisses make me lightheaded. His respect slips past my best defenses. The hate turns to friendship, and makes me dream of more. He’s like the most dangerous kind of champagne. That’s why I blame him for making me fall in love with him. But when I find out our marriage was nothing more than revenge, what’s to blame for my broken heart?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Nico and Vera are the main characters of this story. Vera has grown up under the thumb of her father, and the story opens with her being forced into an arranged marriage. She wants more out of life, asks to do things like work for the family shipping company. Her father forbids her from doing so and she is forced to seek employment elsewhere. This brings Nico into the story, he is Vera’s new boss. Nico is hard-working and cutthroat. Probably the most alpha guy Fiona has ever introduced. Nova and Raelynn are Vera’s best friends, they were awesome and I have a sneaking suspicion their stories will be the next ones in this series. We already got a tease of Nova and it looks a wee bit taboo and I am so excited. Pacing: I was surprised how much of the story was leading up to the wedding rather than a post-wedding. When I first read the title I perceived it to be more of a gets a little too tipsy one night and wakes up married the next day. The story is a little more calculated than that. There is a lot more back story that really allows for you to care about these characters and understand why Vera and Nico choose to get married. They both have their own selfish reasons, that I would rather not explicitly spoil it for you. Romance: This romance had so many tropes that we all know and love. enemies to lovers, a marriage of convenience, boss-employee and office romance. Nico and Vera had such great tension and their first scene romantic scene together was explosive. Super angsty, yet still emotional a Fiona Cole specialty! After growing up with such controlling men it was so refreshing to see Vera with someone ready to treat her with the respect she deserves. Blame it on the Champagne receives five out of five stars. And of course, Fiona wrote a Hanna who spent the course of the novel rediscovering her already existing strength and bravery. Setting: Cincinnati is the city this story takes place in. What makes it special is how all of our fave characters live in it. Hanna would jump between going to Voyeur and Voy to see many familiar faces. Pacing: The story is paced extremely well. I do find Fiona’s books on the quicker side but that has a lot to do with how much I want to engulf them. Romance: Phenomenal romance from Fiona again, when is it not. These two went from friends to lovers in the sweetest and genuine ways while also keeping sexual tension and exploits at just the right amount. It was so rewarding to read two of Fiona’s most deserving characters fall in love. Fiona Cole’s Another ARC Review https://clarynathanwill.com/reviews/fiona-coles-another-arc-review/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fiona-coles-another-arc-review https://clarynathanwill.com/reviews/fiona-coles-another-arc-review/#respond Sat, 14 Sep 2019 18:42:44 +0000 http://clarynathanwill.com/?p=1330 Thank you to Fiona Cole and the team at Foreward Marketing for the advanced copy of Another the lastest story in Fiona Cole’s Voyeur world. Check out the Goodreads synopsis below… “The first time I saw him, he entranced me and offered to help me forget my broken engagement.  The second time was on a blind date with no last names and undeniable passion.  The third time, I was eight months pregnant with his baby he knew nothing about.  This time he’s not letting me walk away so easily.” Check out my more detailed thoughts… Characters: Carina and Ian are the main characters of Another. If you have read any of Fiona’s previous books you may know them, I am pretty sure Carina makes an appearance in both Lovers and Savior. Carina is such a wonderful character as she has this tough exterior of the woman in a man’s world working hard to exceed expectations. On the other hand, she is a woman getting over her ex-fiance remarrying and an unexpected pregnancy. Pacing: This story progressed very well. I find with many books that follow the unintended pregnancy trope, that the portion of the novel with a newborn infant in it is actually quite short. Carina runs into Ian in her seventh or eighth month of pregnancy so you actually get to read about them struggling to raise their child together. Romance: Two characters who have been put through a lot in this series, and these trials they’ve overcome make them even more deserving of this love. Carina has gone through a tremendous heartbreak, so to see her fall in love with Ian and build the family she always wanted, it brought tears to my eyes. Another receives five out of five stars. Thank you to Fiona Cole and her team for the ARC. Thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog.

Fiona Cole’s Savior ARC Review https://clarynathanwill.com/reviews/fiona-coles-savior-arc-review/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fiona-coles-savior-arc-review https://clarynathanwill.com/reviews/fiona-coles-savior-arc-review/#respond Thu, 28 Mar 2019 12:00:34 +0000 http://clarynathanwill.com/?p=1031 I want to thank Foreword PR and Fiona Cole for providing me with an advance reader copy of Fiona’s latest book in the Voyeur world, Savior. I have a dedicated author spotlight on Fiona Cole, as I am such a huge fan of her Voyeur series. Savior takes place within the same world and may feature a few familiar faces from Voyeur and The Lovers. Check out the Goodreads synopsis below… “He bought me, but not to touch or taste. He bought me to save me, and to atone for past sins. Handsome and mysterious, he swoops in to offer me a new life, but this is no knight in shining armor. He’s cold, hardened by his past. But there’s an inferno underneath the ice, I can feel the heat each time he looks at me—each time he gives in to the desire between us. No matter how much I push to unleash the fire in his eyes, he shoves back harder each time. He’s merciless with his cruel words, telling me how naïve I am, how little I know of the world. But I’m stronger than he thinks. When we face down our demons from the past, I’ll prove which one of us was in need of saving, and which one of us is the savior.” Here are my more detailed thoughts… Characters: Alexandria and Erik have very different pasts, and our brought together in circumstances of the present. Alexandria is the character that strives to never give up or settle for her life situation. Erik is compassionate, while also being that asshole alpha type. Romance: The way in which Alexandria and Erik fall in love is beautifully written. I feared that Alexandria would feel indebted to Erik and that would influence whatever relationship they had. This book instead tells the story of two people who have sacrificed, suffered and deserve the love of each other. Savior receives four out of five stars.
