Did I just about drop everything I was doing when this ARC hit my Kindle? Yes, I did! Melanie Harlow returns to her latest world of Cherry Tree Harbour, with a marriage of convenience, forced proximity, a fake relationship, enemies-to-lovers, and a one-night stand. This book had everything and more!

I am a Melanie Harlow review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

Fall in love with my enemy? No way. Marry him to save my family’s struggling ski resort? That’s a different story… Getting hitched is the only way I can inherit Snowberry Lodge, and I’ll do anything to spare my childhood home from the wrecking ball–even wear Devlin Buckley’s ring on my finger. Not that I’ll enjoy it. Sure, he’s charming and handsome, and that no-last-names one night stand we shared ended with a fantastically big bang (I saw stars I hadn’t seen in six months, if you catch my drift). But I’ll never trust him–he was working for the company trying to bulldoze my life. Right up until the day he knocked on my door with an offer I couldn’t refuse. Marry him, and he’ll help me restore my family’s crumbling resort to its former glory–and get revenge on his ex-boss in the process. Once our goals are achieved, we’ll go our separate ways. It’s temporary. Strictly business. Purely for show. Until I realize how much I like it when he says “my wife.” Once we’re sharing a last name–and a bed–our make-believe match starts to feel a little too real. And if I’m not careful, I could lose everything… my home, my dreams, and my heart.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: The main characters are Lexi and Devlin. As we meet Lexi she is ready to inherit her family’s ski resort except her grandmother failed to mention that her in will it stipulates that only a couple can inherit. Enter Devlin, who works for the development company dead set on buying Snowberry Lodge. I fell for Lexi hard, she is a firehouse and never let Devlin get away with anything. I loved all the side characters so much, from Lexi’s grandmother to her friends who will be familiar faces to fans of Melanie’s other books. Along with the other Buckleys of course! I loved an excuse to see these characters again!
  • Setting: This small-town romance happens mostly at the Snowberry Lodge and I loved it there! But also gotta love a little side trip to Las Vegas and a Vegas wedding!
  • Pacing: I devoured this book and how could I not?! It’s electric right from the start and never slows down. You just want to root for Lexi and Devlin so easily. I could not wait to see what the fake, turns into real so I just kept reading and reading fast.
  • Romance: The tropes just made for the perfect amount of sexual tension! The book starts off with a bang literally and never slows down. The characters struggle to keep their hands off each other, and what is supposed to be all for a show to protect Lexi’s inheritance devolves into way too many “my wife” moments from Devlin. Very soon he is giving his all to Lexi and you cannot help but be swooned by him too. Plus of course, this book is hot just like all of Melanie Harlow’s books as she has been a top-tier smut writer for me for a long time.

Make Believe-Match receives five out of five stars.

Thank you to Elsie Silver and her team for the advance reader copy of Hopeless, the fifth and final instalment in the Chestnut Springs series.

This book is a masterpiece, a culmination of everything so great about Chestnut Springs!

Beau Eaton is the town prince, a handsome military hero with a tortured past.

I’m the outcast bartender, a shy girl from the wrong side of the tracks.

He’s thirty-five and all man, and I’m twenty-two and all… virgin.

He’s also my fiancé. Correction: my fake fiancé.

We start out as a bet. He doesn’t believe that anyone holds my last name against me. So he offers me his to prove a point.

It’s win-win. He gets a break from his concerned family’s prying, and I get a chance to shed my family’s reputation while I save up to ditch this small town.

He says all I have to do is wear his ring, follow his lead, and pretend I can’t keep my hands off of him in public.

But it’s what happens between us in private that blurs all those carefully drawn lines.

It’s what transpires behind closed doors that doesn’t feel like pretending at all.

This engagement was supposed to be for show. This agreement? It has an end date.

He once told me he’d never fall in love.

And yet here I am, head over heels for my fake fiancé.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Oh Beau Eaton how quickly you stole my heart. Beau has been in the background of every other Chestnut Springs novel and I was so happy to be in his head finally! I needed to know how he was dealing with his trauma, or should I say not dealing with it. I adored how he was such a gentleman, a very different breed from his brothers. He loves hard, with such a big heart and it was so wonderful to see him find a safe place for that heart with Bailey. Bailey is the local bartender, with a deadbeat father and brothers who wreak havoc in town. The town judges her by her last name rather than by the incredibly caring content of her character. A quick note here, that I loved having so many cameos from the other Chestnut Springs characters. There is a scene I adore so much that features all the women and it made me emotional reading them all together in a single scene.
  • Setting: I will miss Chestnut Springs deeply. In the best small-town romances, the town becomes a key character, and in this book not only the town but the bar. Much of this story takes place in Bailey’s bar, with Beau watching her from his stool. Special shout out to the town drunk!
  • Pacing: I never ever wanted this story to end. Elsie writes such a perfect length and keeps you hooked on the story the entire time. I loved the space she gave for Beau and Bailey’s relationship to grow, there was no need to rush into the hot and heavy. Rather it all developed so naturally and once they began to fall there was no stopping them.
  • Romance: Another stellar couple in the Chestnut Springs series! I will give you the steamy deets first, this book is Elsie’s hottest yet! I know you may say no way but yes way! The river scene and bathtub scene both blow the Cade and Willa hottub scene out of the water. Besides the heat, I did find myself incredibly invested in Beau and Bailey’s fake engagement becoming a real romance. I dare you not to get latched onto two characters who have both never thought they could deserve a love this big.

Hopeless receives five out of five stars.

Am I fake dating my best friend? Hear me out…
So I’m throwing myself a breakup party, a glittery fete where I envision I’ll lift a glass and celebrate being free and single again.
What I actually do: Drink too much champagne and blurt out to my best guy friend that I’d really like to get back on the horse.
But what I truly don’t expect is Carter’s answer – he volunteers as tribute.
With his sinful brown eyes and too-good-to-be-true body it’d be no hardship for me to say yes, though I certainly don’t want him to feel obligated to, um, service me, just because my failed, loveless marriage was a s-e-x desert.
But since the charming and confident pro football star owes five public dates to his dating app sponsor, we make a deal to help each other out.
Pretty soon, our public how to date lessons turn into, ahem, very private ones. And I’m a star student, graduating quickly from flirty banter and lingering looks to toe-curling, sheet-grabbing, mind-blowing hours of physical education.
The problem? Turns out learning to date again feels a lot like the real thing. Can our friendship withstand all these late-night bedroom sessions?
Especially since I’m suddenly longing for my best friend and there’s nothing fake about my feelings…

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Rachel, our heroine is a recent divorcee, after having left her toxic husband, the man who she thought would be the father of her children after she found his business trips were him visiting his secret second family. She is so relatable to anyone who has ever felt unsure about finding love and feeling worthy of adoration. Enter her best friend, Carter. They had been close friends since high school and are now back in the same city again after a while, ready to rekindle that friendship. The NFL player had a few exes but nothing was too serious. He too is deserving of using his great boyfriend skills on someone.
  • Setting: This is Lauren Blakley’s San Francisco so lots of cute cameos from characters you will recognize. This includes Carter’s brother Axel and his girlfriend Hazel from My So-Called Sex Life.
  • Pacing: I found myself intrigued by this story right away, which is a change from the pacing I am used to with Lauren’s recent work. It was a refreshing change to not have to put in a few chapters before getting attached to the story. I did find it lost some momentum near the third act though.
  • Romance: What pulled me in right away was the tension between the characters. I am not as big on friends-to-lovers (I am usually more of an enemies-to-lovers girlie) but these two were adorable with their feelings and hot with their actions. Damn, Lauren Blakley treated us to some hot sex scenes. I found I got so emotionally invested in them too, the fans the characters had in the book, they also made one in real life.

Plays Well With Others receives four out of five stars.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our heroine is Trina, a book nerd who doesn’t really know a lot about hockey, but does know she wants to piss off her cheating ex. So she steals his VIP tickets to a hockey game, which includes a meet and greet with two hockey players. After the VIP experience night, Trina begins to live every gal’s fantasy, she has the love and attention of not one but two hockey players. Readers are bound to love Trina, as she moves into Chase’s place for a week with her no-nonsense attitude and adorable dog. Speaking of Chase, he and Ryker are our heroes. Do you love a grumpy hero? Do you love a sunshine hero? You get both in this book! Chase is sunshine, the protector and super loyal. In contrast, Ryker is the grump, married to the sport. I did feel Trina’s character felt more developed than the hockey boys and would have loved to have seen some better balance there.
  • Setting: The story is set in San Franciso, a setting that will be familiar to fans of Lauren’s sports romances. The boys play for rival teams, San Francisco Sea Dogs and California Avengers. I do wish there was more hockey in this hockey romance. I was excited to see Lauren’s take as she has done virtually every other sport already and we needed more time on ice and with the teams.
  • Pacing: This story was paced very well. Funnily enough, the majority of it takes place in a week. You may think one week is not long enough to fall in love with one man, but Lauren will show you it is long enough to fall for two.
  • Romance: I loved that once Trina barrels into their lives the boys shower her affection in different yet equal ways. I want to be forthright here, I prefer sword cross in my poly romance, but I get why Lauren did it the way she did. She was able to balance showing these new romantic relationships blossoming with the ever-present and hugely important friendship between the two guys. They don’t just need Trina’s love, they need each other’s friendship. But don’t get me wrong the relationship part is the best part. From their first scene together these three were smoking hot. If you love when Lauren Blakley pushes the steam then this will be one that makes you happy. Along with all the great sex scenes, there were so many adorable quiet moments of pancake breakfasts and dog walks. Making this a story equally sweet and a scorcher!

Double Pucked receives four out of five stars.

Thank you to Lauren Blakely and her team for the advance reader copy of Limited Edition Husband, the fourth story in the Winner Takes All series.

Another sports M/M from Lauren Blakley, which was an overall enjoyable read but it felt like it lacked something special.

I am a Lauren Blakley review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

One weekend with no strings was supposed to be the plan.

After barely escaping my last train wreck of a romance, I’ve got a new dating goal—play it cool.

I stick to that strategy when I meet a hunky Brit at a fundraiser and ask him to grab a drink. But he’s newly out and eager for all the things he’s never done, so he ups the ante with the wild suggestion that we jet off to the city of sin for a weekend, then say goodbye.

But instead, thanks to blackjack, a bet and some bourbon, we’re saying I do.

And in the morning I’m asking myself what the hell have I done? I can’t risk being the football player who’s also a playa. We’ll just undo the holy matrimony right this stinking second.

Except, the pics of our nuptials are splashed all over the Internet, and my agent says we need to stay Mister and Mister until the brouhaha blows over.

Thirty days as fake husbands with the charming Brit who’s determined to prove that he’s nothing like my ex?

My bruised heart can handle that as long as I don’t fall for my husband.

And I won’t. When we split for real, he’ll be an ocean away.

Contents include: A sarcastic, romance-phobic American football player, a charming and dirty-minded British businessman, an Elvis impersonator, white-hot first times, dangerous decisions, and a sexy, witty, emotional fake marriage, first times MM standalone sports romance!

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our heroes are Hunter, a British TV producer and Nate, an American football star. Nate brought some adorable shy energy. He was newly out as Bi, so he is dealing with many insecurities and self-doubt about being with a man for the first time. Lauren loves to make one of the characters a virgin so he takes center stage. While Nate is the much more experience one of the pair. The San Francisco Hawks player is pretty fresh off a divorce and has not really re-entered the dating scene. I enjoyed the warmth Nate gave off, he seemed like a good brother and a good friend. Realistically though neither character impressed me all too much, they were likeable guys but not standouts.
  • Setting: This story has a few settings from San Francisco, to Las Vegas, to London. The best part of the story was the part set in Las Vegas. They stayed at the Extravagant Hotel (love a Lauren Blakley easter egg) and it provided fodder for so many hot scenes, including one too many drinks and one too many weddings.
  • Pacing: I had some big pacing issues with this story. First off the beginning dragged a bit, I know there needed to be some time to establish how these characters met and who they are. I do think that section could have been condensed so that readers can get swept up in the accidental Las Vegas wedding a bit sooner. Those passages were the shining star, so we needed to get to them sooner. The rest of the books also felt bogged down, my heart just was not in it and it put me in a bit of a reading slump.
  • Romance: This couple had really great tension. What great chemistry as both characters oozed sex tension. Lauren keeps writing these characters who just cannot get enough of each other. The best part in many ways was their insatiability, the physical part of their relationship was much stronger than the emotional part. I found I just did not grow that attached to these two, it may be different for other readers. So, please do not let my review disparage you, if you have enjoyed this series it is worth picking up this instalment!

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Within just a few pages I had fallen deeply in love with Cassandra, she may be my favourite heroine in Olympus that we have met yet. I cannot help but want to root for a social outcast in this society. She is incredibly determined and Katee is so good at weaving great representation into her stories. Cassandra is a tremendous plus-size and bisexual representation. Cassandra works for Apollo, he is one of the thirteen, but he got the role by being selected by the other members of the thirteen. So, no surprise he is a wicked smart spymaster. He got to where he is through being hardworking and determined, virtues Cassandra and readers alike will adore about him.
  • Setting: The forced proximity trope plays a role in Cassandra and Apollo’s romance, but it also dominates the story’s setting. Most of this story takes place in this elaborate house that was Hermes and now it’s the Minotaur’s. This book felt like a game-changer for this world, even more than the last one. I love the politics of this world and this instalment sure took great advantage of this as so many of the thirteen are locked into a single home.
  • Pacing: I devoured this book as I have all the Dark Olympus books. So much of Apollo and Cassandra’s history is from before the book so you are thrown into their dynamic and the book never slows down.
  • Romance: Apollo and Cassandra are your classic we both feel things for each other but what bother telling the other person kind of couple. The tension between them is hot and heavy. Now not only are they keeping their feelings to themselves, throw in the boss-employee dynamic. All they needed was a fake dating scheme and some forced proximity to really reckon with the depths of their feelings. This book is so damn hot. I love Apollo and Cassandra’s in-bedroom dynamic, the portrayal of the softer side of BDSM was so well done. So many readers will love to see this sub-dom dynamic with some bondage play, but maybe not as intense as it can be with other couples.

Radiant Sin receives five out of five stars.

Devney Perry + Fake relationship + Marriage of convenience + Edens series = a match made in heaven! This book sure was and I anticipate fans who have long anticipated Eloise’s story will be more than satisfied.

I am a Deveny Perry review team member, but I remain honest and genuine in my reviews.

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Devney Perry comes a small town, fake relationship romance.

Eloise Eden’s pride and joy is her family’s hotel in Quincy, Montana. Her lifelong dream is to own The Eloise Inn. All she has to do is prove to her parents that she’s the epitome of responsible. That her days of being duped and making reckless decisions are history. She’s so close she can taste it.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: I have been dying to get in Eloise’s head since we met her. I wanted to know more about her dynamic with her parents as we have only been previewed to that from the outside perspective of other Eden siblings. My big question going into this was why they were so reluctant to hand over the keys of the Eloise Inn to the namesake Eloise Eden. I am glad to say readers will get an excellent idea of that once they dive in. Eloise is a girl who walks around with her heart on her sleeve, she is incredibly caring and compassionate to everyone almost to a fault. While our hero Jasper Vale is closed-off and very much keeps to himself. He was introduced in the last instalment, Garnet Flats as Knox’s trainer. The best part about a super stoic hero is watching him fall head over heels in love. This should not surprise me as I know Devney’s writing abilities inside out by now, but damn she did such a great job building a flawed and multifaceted hero with tragedy in his background. A tragedy which was integral to his actions and choices in a logical way. I anticipate readers will love both characters.
  • Setting: I love Quincy! Devney’s imagined Montana small-town works especially well in the dynamics of this story. As the characters were faking their marriage and did not want the entire town to gossip about it much of this book was them convincing others out in public, which in turn convinced themselves. Or the other dynamic was all the lovely isolated and private time this couple got, and that’s where they really fell in love. Also a quick mention to the time we get to spend at the Eloise Inn, I loved this setting and the interesting subplot that grew from it. I was not expecting it and I love how Devney has these thrilling mysteries up her sleeve.
  • Pacing: I just zoomed through this story. I crawled into bed to read it the night I received it and was so immediately enraptured by the story. I read it in under three hours, and was so sad I finished it to fast. Now I have to wait until September to return to the Edens and to Quincy, Montana.
  • Romance: This couple started hot and those embers never dulled. As I alluded to earlier the best parts of this romance were the quiet ones. I adored how they began to build a life together between the walls of Jasper’s A-frame cabin. The scenes in it were both physically and emotionally intimate. I adored this couple, as I have every Edens’ romance. Lylah is next, and I cannot wait to see what Devney has dreamed up for her especially as the tropes and premise feel more reminiscent of Indigo Ridge, my favourite instalment in this series.

Jasper Vale receives five out of five stars.

Both characters are enjoyable, but I was looking for a bit more. I always love how Lauren will weave in The Extravagant hotel which you may recognize from The Extravagant series. Pacing: The pacing was pretty good. It did not take too long for the boys to fall back together, apologize and then improve their communication. An improvement from the first book, that’s for sure. Romance: They are brought together again by their agents, who want them to fake date. This was an interesting take on fake dating. Often couples who fake date may have some history, maybe they were close friends. Never have I read where they had basically an entire whirlwind romance and then spend seven years apart. The chemistry was back and it was immediate. They fall into old patterns and I loved how Lauren weaved in references to the first half of their love story. Jude and TJ were just as hot in the bedroom as they were in the first instalment. I just was not in love with this duology the way I am with other Lauren Blakley books, part of me thinks that this did not need two books and could have been structured into a single story. All the while knowing there’s a ticking clock on his ability to lead. Eva Morelli is the oldest daughter. The responsible one. The caring one. The one who doesn’t have time for her own interests. Especially not her interest in the charismatic, mysterious Finn Hughes. A fake relationship is the answer to both their problems. It will keep the swarming society mothers from throwing their daughters at him. And it will keep Eva’s mother from bothering her about marriage. Then the fake relationship starts to feel real. But there’s no chance for them. No hope for a woman who’s had her heart broken. And no future for a man whose fate was decided long ago.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Eva Morelli is the one keeping the Morelli family afloat, even if they have not figured that out yet. The eldest Morelli sister has been a fixture in everyone else’s stories for so long, she always seemed cold and like she was hiding something. She’s been hurt before, had her heartbroken by a man who never should have played with it. That has not stopped Eva’s mother from wanting her to find a husband and find him quickly as she is already 33 years old. Enter Finneas Hughes, Finn is the eldest son in the Hughes family, a modern-day equivalent to the Kennedys or Vanderbilts, in contrast to the old money families like the Morellis and Constantines. Finn has a bit of a playboy reputation and is very anti-marriage. He’s 29 years old and harbouring a secret, a family history of dementia that he is terrified of repeating. I adored both Eva and Finn! Both of these characters spend all their time taking care of their families and not themselves. Now they can be the one who cares for each other’s well-being, except it is just not that simple. One of the best parts about a book about a Morelli is checking in on the other Morellis. I loved getting to spend time with a bunch of them, including getting to know Lizzy better, seeing Tiernan and Bianca as a part of the family, and Eva’s special relationships with Leo and Haley. The Hughes family intrigued me and I hope we see more from Finn’s younger brother Hemingway in the future. Setting: The setting gives quite a heavy dose of Bishop’s Landing as these Dangerous Press tend to do. A fun setting was featured in the first few chapters when Finn surprised Eva by whisking her away to cool settings like an underground casino. I also loved everything Eva’s condo represented, the bit of freedom she strives for under the weight of being a Morelli. Pacing: This book flew by, or more likely I could not put it down. I was hooked from the opening chapters. This book was predictable but that did not bother me much. It may some readers but I just found the story so compelling that I was not disappointed that I was guessing story beats. Now I am sad I have to wait until August for the next instalment. Romance: I loved how almost immediately Finn and Eva were drawn to each other. It was as if they saw the “innate sadness” as Finn put it, in each other and wanted to provide the care and comfort to start healing that sadness. What begins as a fake dating scheme, cannot help but cascade into real feelings. Real feelings that Finn fights against. He is your classic tortured hero, who does not want to burden his future wife and pass on his “family curse” to any future children. Skye Warren writes such great sex scenes and Eva and Finn had amazing chemistry in and out of bed. Finn’s reluctance did not bug me, I see this as a relationship worth fighting for and have no doubt Eva is going to convince him they are worth the try. Thank you to Skye Warren and the team at Dangerous Press for the advance reader copy of One for the Money, releasing May 31st!

Skye Warren has been the woman behind the scenes at Dangerous Press. She started what has grown into one of my fave publishers and I am so excited to be reviewing this story. This is Eva’s story and I have wanted to be in her head since she strolled onto the page, so I am pumped!

I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true.

“Finn Hughes knows about secrets. His family is as wealthy as the Rockefellers. And as powerful as the Kennedys. No one knows that the men in his line have a debilitating, early-onset illness.

And no future for a man whose fate was decided long ago.”
