It was bittersweet as a fan of this series, I obviously know what happens. It’s All Right to Cry: Nicholas is told in this story about his parent’s plane disappearing and seeing his reaction and how he had to handle it was devastating. It made me want to cry. I loved seeing the strength of Lenora and Edward’s relationship in the face of everything the world has thrown at them. Bloody Thank You Cards: I loved seeing a peek into Edward and Nicholas’s relationship. Plus a little bit of a look into how flirty Lenora and Edward still are even as they get older. Good Night Sweet Prince: I was dreading this story, the story of Lenora losing Edward. All of these little stories really sold me on the greatest of their love. Now and Always: Now we get Nicholas’ point of view on his grandfather’s death. It was a lovely story and had such a nice sensitive moment between Nicholas, his brother Henry and his grandmother Queen Lenora. A Little Thing Like a Crown: This story occurs during Royally Screwed. It was interesting to get the behind-the-scenes of how Lenora was processing Nicholas’ choices. I did find it a bit creepy how Lenora talks too intently to her deceased husband. I get why Emma Chase did this so there was dialogue in the story. I Don’t Want to Say I Told You: Features Lenora coming to terms with Nicholas’ choice to pursue love and abdicate. It is interesting because after all these stories you understand better where Lenora is coming from. How after her son and daughter-in-law died she poured all of her energy into shaping Nicholas into the perfect heir. My Greatest Joy: This story was very very touching. I especially loved Lenora’s moment with Jane. Beyond the Palace: This was a nice way to wrap up this short story book. The lives of the Wessco royal family have always been extraordinary. Abounding in power and wealth, and marked by moments of soul-searing passion, exquisite love, and tragic loss.

In this collection of short stories, set during the time period of the Royally books and beyond, we explore the moments that helped shape these characters into the irresistible heroes and heroines readers have come to know and cherish.
We meet Prince Nicholas and Henry’s parents, Prince Thomas and Lady Calista; we see the struggle to balance family relationships with the demands of the monarchy; and we continue the story of Queen Lenora and Prince Edward, whose deep, abiding love lasts beyond a lifetime.

Royally Remembered is not a standalone–it is a companion novella meant to be read after Royally Screwed, Royally Matched, Royally Endowed, and Royally Yours.

I have very much enjoyed Emma’s Getting Some series and countless other titles from her, so I jumped at the chance to pick up this ARC. “A sexy, hilarious, emotional, new romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase. Connor Daniels never thought he’d be starting over at dating square one. His career as a successful doctor, and his three boys, are everything to him. It’s not exactly a set-up conducive to a scorching love life—but he’s giving it a shot. ER nurse Violet Robinson never intended for Connor to find out she’s had a crush on him forever. It was a dirty little secret only meant for her dirty dreams. Her heart trips every time he’s around—and so do her feet. When Connor sees Violet coasting across the grocery store parking lot—and she falls on her face—he starts falling for the gorgeous, young nurse right back. Dating can be tricky. And life can be beautiful and crazy and unpredictable. But when it gets real, you discover what matters most . . . and the one person you want loving you through it all.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Connor is our hero and he is the single dad of three teenage boys. The emergency room doctor is fresh off a rough divorce. His sons Brayden, Spencer and Aaron are all that he pours his time into. He is incredibly caring, outgoing and is a sweetheart. You cannot help but like him. I did like how he was self-conscious about asking our heroine out and that others around him had to push him into it. Violet, is our heroine and she is a nurse at the same emergency room as Connor. She is struggling with dating too. I think all of us gals can relate to Violet’s frustration about the men her age just not clicking with her. Setting: The story is set in Lakeside, New Jersey, which is a quaint and cute little town. If you have read any of the previous Getting Some books you will recognize Connor’s family, he is one of four brothers. The Daniels are a staple in this series with the eldest brother Garret finding love with Callie in Getting Schooled. There are also cameos from Dean and Lainey of Getting Played. I really like all the characters of the wider Lakeside world and think there is so much potential here for Emma to explore more love stories. Pacing: This story just flew by and I could not help but just devour it. It had been quite a long time since I lost track of time reading and wasted a morning away in bed cuddled up with a good book. Getting Real will make you want to do that. Many parts of the plot actually inspired me, something I was not expecting from a cutesy romance. Romance: I loved the adorable and cutesy way the relationship between Connor and Violet grew. They start as friends. Friends who run together, to avoid klutzy Violet tripping on the trail. Friends who be each other’s wedding dates, so they can dance the night away. I did enjoy the way it was the other characters not only pushed them together in the first place but were constantly there to provide guidance and advice. The steamy scenes were pretty damn good too. I loved how Violet was not a pushover when it came to Connor, when she was mad at him, he knew. When he would grovel an apology, she did not take him back easy. There was an emotional intensity to this story, another thing I was not expecting. Do not be surprised if this one part adorable and one part steamy romance gets you teary-eyed. It has been awhile since I have reviewed for Emma Chase and I was over the moon when Valentine PR presented the opportunity to get an early copy of Dirty Charmer. I read it in one sitting. I started it right before bed and I could not go to sleep until I finished it as I was drawn in so completely. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say…stuffy. But it’s not really her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco’s oldest, most affluent, aristocratic families—“stuffy” is their middle name. So is successful. Abby’s working overtime to distinguish herself as a top-notch physician, just as her family legacy demands. She doesn’t have time for nonsense. Tommy Sullivan’s all about nonsense. Sure, he’s an elite bodyguard with lethal skills and co-owner of the renowned, S&S Securities Firm—protector of the wealthy and titled. But he’s also rowdy, fun and thoroughly irresistible. Tommy knows how to have a good time, and he’s never seen someone more in need of a good time than Abby. The lass needs long, wet, filthy kisses—STAT—and he’s just the man for the job. It doesn’t take long for a wildly sexy, sinfully satisfying, no-strings attached arrangement to turn into something more. Something sweet and addictive and real. But Tommy and Abby are too royally stubborn to admit it. Opposites attract, everyone knows that. But can they last—can they love…for forever?” Check out my more detailed thoughts… Characters: Abby and Tommy are the main characters of Emma’s latest love story. Abby seeing herself as lacking due to being only an above-average person in a family of literal geniuses. She is an amazing cardiac surgeon but does suffer naturally to being married to her job. Tommy is hired as her bodyguard, he is the co-owner of an elite security company along with Logan (a familiar face from the Royally series, specifically Royally Endowed.) Tommy is a suave, smooth talker with a heart of gold. Setting: Wessco is the fictional kingdom that Emma had created for the Royally series. And it naturally extended into this one. It reads like any European setting. The beauty of the setting is the impact of the aristocracy on the story in this cases Abby’s family. Pacing: I stopped really discussing pacing in detail in my reviews awhile ago. Every once and awhile a book comes along and demands me to talk about how well it was paced. Dirty Charmer sucked me in, it was paced so well I just kept reading and reading until I was finished. I gobbled it up in just one sitting! Romance: Gotta love the classic trope of we will just have hot sex together and no feelings will ever ever emerge. Abby and Tommy were electric. The worlds they came from are complete opposites but as a couple they fit so well together. Abby brought out such a soft and possessive side in Tommy. Tommy was able to help Abigail forge her own path in life, to help her see how she could have them both the career and the everlasting love of a lifetime. I was a huge fan of the Royally series by Emma Chase, so I was over the moon when I was given the chance to read the next installment or should I say the prequel for review. That’s right guys this story centers on Lenora, who you will definitely be acquainted with if you have read the other books in the series (Which if you haven’t you really should). Here’s the synopsis straight from Goodreads: “Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco. It’s a big deal. When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning. What she isn’t… is married. It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want. Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty. Even Queens. Especially them. ** Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home. And a sacred promise keeps him there. To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure. ** Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever. World/Setting: Wesco is a fictional kingdom, but that only adds to its magic. You can’t beat the setting of European style castles and countrysides. The Royally series is a trilogy that I would identify as a New Adult classic. So many NA fans have read it and loved it. I’m so excited for this book (I talked more about it in a previous blog post about my most anticipated releases this fall), and if you have not picked up the series I highly recommend you do. Now what you have been waiting for, the cover… If you pick this up in paperback, here is the full cover…   Here is the reveal of the synopsis: “Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco. It’s a big deal. When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning. What she isn’t…is married. Here is the reveal of the synopsis: “Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal.

When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.

To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.

Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever.

Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story.

This is theirs.”

My Top 5 Most Anticipated 2018 Fall Releases (and Assignment #1) https://clarynathanwill.com/lists/my-top-5-most-anticipated-2018-fall-releases/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=my-top-5-most-anticipated-2018-fall-releases https://clarynathanwill.com/lists/my-top-5-most-anticipated-2018-fall-releases/#respond Thu, 13 Sep 2018 16:00:30 +0000 http://clarynathanwill.com/?p=330 When I say that I am excited and nervous for fall book releases I am not kidding. The excitement comes from the next installments in some of my favourite series. The nerves come from two of my favourite series concluding this fall. Let’s start with excitement! Tangled Like Us releases sometime this fall (a date has not been set yet, but hopefully will soon.) Tangled Like Us is the fourth book in the Like Us Series (which is the spinoff series to the phenomenal Addicted series). The Like Us series follows the children of the characters of Krista and Becca Ritchie’s previous series. This world of their’s is one of my absolute favourites. Without a doubt Addicted to You is one of the most influential books on my life, as it made me aware in ways that I never was before. The Addicted series tackles addiction in such a careful and attentive manner, that you cannot help but leave your reading experience with a fresh understanding of the addictions written about and their effects on relationships. I am excited about Tangled with Us as it is the story of my two favourite character’s daughter and I have only read her in a supporting role in the three previous novels and I am just so excited to be inside her head. I highly recommend jumping on this series, I know it is really long (Addicted is ten books and Like Us will be eight books once it is finished) but it is so worth it. You can add it on Goodreads and catch up on the other books here: https://kbritchie.com/reading-order.html   Royally Yours (the cover reveal is this month, stay tuned for a blog reveal post) releases October 30th. The Royally series by Emma Chase is a favourite in the New Adult community. Everyone was sad when the trilogy came to a close but within the last year, Emma Chase has announced this fourth instalment and a spinoff series. The Royally series tells the stories of different members of the Wescco royal family and their romantic endeavours. There is no word yet on who this book is about, but fans are speculating the next generation of the royal family all grown up will be the ones to take center stage in the next instalment. You can add it on Goodreads and check out the previous books in the series here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/180054-royally A Nordic King releases September 21st. Karina Halle is one of my favourite authors and not just because we have the same hometown. You can check out her all of her works as i’ve detailed in a previous blog post (warning there is a lot). A Nordic King tells the story of the widowed King of Denmark and the tension between him and his children’s nanny. The story can stand alone, but I also highly suggest books that have some characters in common The Swedish Prince and The Wild Heir. I just love everything that Karina writes so I could not be more excited for her next book. You can add it on Goodreads and check out all of Karina’s books here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4785031.Karina_Halle   Next up are some conclusions that have been years in the making.   Queen of Air and Darkness releases on December 4th. I cannot even put into words my love and hero worship for Cassandra Clare. The reader I am today is because of Cassie and her books. Every one of her endings is bittersweet but is also so exciting because she has yet to write a bad ending. If you are unaware of Cassie and the world of Shadowhunters you need to check out City of Bones right now. If you have already read the other Shadowhunters series, but have been unsure about picking up The Dark Artificies (QOaaD is the final book in the trilogy) I am here to tell you, read it! These books are more mature and really delve deeper into comparisons between racial relations and the far right in our world to the species-ist bigoted Shadowhunters of the Shadow world. You can add it on Goodreads and check out the entire Shadowhunter chronicles here: http://shadowhunters.wikia.com/wiki/The_Shadowhunters%27_Wiki:Readers%27_Guide   Kingdom of Ash releases on October 23rd. Much to my surprise Kingdom of Ash is my most anticipated book this year (usually it is Cassie’s next release). I have been invested in the Throne of Glass series for years and I truly have no idea how it is going to conclude. Part of me is hopeful that all my babies are going to be okay and that all my favourite couples are going to live happily ever after. The other part of me is terrified that some large sacrifice will be required to conclude the final battle and everyone I love will die. So I am totally calm right now, not freaking out at all. If you have not read Throne of Glass or my fave from Sarah, A Court of Thorns and Roses I highly recommend them. You can add it to Goodreads and check out the rest of the series here (I highly recommend reading it in publication order!): https://www.goodreads.com/series/51288-throne-of-glass   Thank you so much for supporting my blog and for reading about my most anticipated releases. Please leave a comment if you are also excited for any of these books, and if not are there any books you are excited for this fall? Thanks again!     UPDATE: The response to my meme and this post I could not be more grateful for: Likes from: Krista and Becca Ritchie and Publishing@SFU Retweets from: Emma Chase, Krista and Becca Ritchie, Karina Halle, and Publishing@SFU Reply From: Emma Chase: Thank you to all the wonderful authors who interacted with me and shared my blog post.

The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and “cool” teacher in the hometown where he’s not just a golden boy — he’s platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle. Then…Callie Carpenter comes home. And knocks him right on his tight end zone. Back to school… Callie has a pretty sweet life herself…on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she’d prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school. Now she’s facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore…and that’s just the teachers. Just like old times… When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance – and then has to stop herself from jumping him. Good friends are all they can ever be. Or…these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard — by love. I’ve been a fan of Emma Chase for a while now, loving both the Royally Series (obviously) and the Legal Briefs series. She has once again written something special here. Getting Schooled combined the concept of a second chance romance along with your past melding into your present.   Characters: This story is told in dual POV, our protagonists are Garrett Daniels and Callie Carpenter. I loved both characters equally. A special thing in this book though is all the side characters from Garrett’s dog to Callie’s students that really make the book shine. World/Setting: The story is set in Lakeside, New Jersey which is a quaint town. As I live in the city I really enjoy small town settings when I read. There’s something so cute about everyone knowing everyone. Pacing: Paced extremely well. Emma Chase has always been good at that. Romance (yay or nay?): The romance was the best part of this book. Second chance romance is a common trope, but Emma Chase writes the trope realistically. There was push and pull and decisiveness, but overall the characters fell back in love quickly and resumed old patterns. Having never been in a relationship myself I can’t truly say this is authentic, but I never felt like Emma Chase threw in drama just to thicken the plot. If I haven’t convinced you yet, here’s an excerpt from Getting Schooled…  “High school parking lots are one of the most dangerous places on earth. I don’t have statistics to back that up…but I know it’s true. I pull into the school parking lot Monday morning in my Dad’s giant, newly repaired mint-green Buick, with Back in Black by AC/DC blasting from the speakers. I feel tough, powerful—like I’m driving a tank. I’m a badass teacher—I’ll run you down even if you’re a student—I’ve got twenty-nine more in class just like you. The outfit helps too—leather boots, blue jeans, a starched white blouse and a black leather jacket. It’s my armor. The morning air is cool and crisp today, but I barely feel it. I’m locked and loaded and ready to roll.  As I march towards the main entrance, I spot Garrett and Dean and Alison Bellinger outside the doors. They pause when they see me, waiting. “Damn,” Dean chuckles. “Callie’s got her shit-kickers on. Did you dig them out of a mosh pit from 1993?” Garrett crosses his arms. “Somebody’s channeling Michelle Pfiefer in Dangerous Minds.” He looks fantastic. His hair is tousled from the breeze and kisses his brow, and he’s wearing a dark blue sweater that’s snug around his biceps and soft, worn, light blue jeans. I remember his arms around me yesterday on my parent’s porch. The wonder and exhilaration of the moment. Of him. The intensity in his eyes, the desire and possessiveness in the grasp of his hands. The scorching feel of his mouth, his wet talented tongue that made my stomach swirl and my head spin. So much for not complicating things. But I’m not going to play head games with myself or Garrett—we’re too old for that shit. I have feelings for him—I always have—our break-up had nothing to do with either of us not wanting each other desperately. But these aren’t just leftover echoes of a sweet, first love—this is something new. A throbbing, breathless attraction to the amazing man he’s become. I want to be near him. I want to know him, inside and out, all over again. And he feels the same way. Garrett wants this version of me as much as he always did—maybe even more. I heard it in his whispered words and felt it in his kiss. I don’t know if we have a future, if it can go anywhere. We have separate lives on opposite ends of the country. But I’m not going to worry about that—for now, I’m going to take each day as it comes and enjoy every moment we can. Except for now. Now is not the time for enjoying or worrying or relationship building…now is the time for focusing. Now is the time to be ice and steel—don’t smile, don’t waver. “Little fucknutters don’t know who the hell they’re dealing with,” I growl. Allison pumps her fist. “That’s the spirit.” Garrett opens the door for me. “Go get ‘em, Gangster’s Paradise.” I really enjoyed this book so it is obviously… Here are some links to various retailers you can purchase Getting Schooled from… AUDIBLE: http://adbl.co/2BGsVA6 AMAZON KINDLE: http://amzn.to/2FvxzTG PAPERBACK: http://amzn.to/2EqurJt iBooks: https://apple.co/2nriACY B&N: http://bit.ly/2DWF3SP KOBO: http://bit.ly/2Fsy7tq If you want to keep up to date with new releases and news from Emma Chase, you can follow her at any of these places below … Website: http://authoremmachase.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AuthorEmmaChase/?fref=ts Newsletter: http://authoremmachase.com/newsletter/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/emmachse Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6551005.Emma_Chase Thank you again to Emma Chase’s team for the eARC. I want to thank Emma Chase and the PR team at Inkslinger PR for providing me with an eARC of Getting Schooled.
From Goodreads:
Head of the class…
Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.
Back to school…
Callie has a pretty sweet life herself…on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she’d prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.
Now she’s facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore…and that’s just the teachers.
Just like old times…
When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance – and then has to stop herself from jumping him.
