Walking away is never simple but when I do, I can’t look back.

Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Pheobe and Asher are our leads and I really liked both of their characters. When we meet Pheobe she has come back home early from grad school, why you may ask? Well read to find out but let’s just say she is facing a tough situation and it was admirable that she was determined to return to her master’s program at another school. While she is home for the summer she must help Asher and his daughter Olivia. They are stranded without a nanny for the summer, specifically, someone who speaks ASL as Olivia is deaf. Asher is his father and he will be taking up single-dad duties for the summer. He was never in a romantic relationship with her mother, instead, they chose to keep Olivia and raise her together. While her mom is out of town this summer for work Asher reluctantly hires Pheobe to help. Asher is a cop and a great dad, when we meet him he is a bit of a grump. Asher is initially annoyed by Pheobe but that soon changes and things heat up. While Pheobe loves everyone with her whole heart and is great with Olivia.
  • Setting: Sugarloaf is the small town this story is set in. It is the same town as Corinne Michaels’ Arrowood Brothers series. It is an adorable town, full of a great cast of side characters. There are so many characters there to give great advice to both Asher and Pheobe. Most intriguing were the other Whitlock Brothers, I cannot wait to see what becomes of their stories.
  • Pacing: This story takes place over a summer holiday and it was paced quite well. I was a bit slumpy in my own reading, and so this took me longer than it should have.
  • Romance: This romance was pretty damn electric. It was so cute to see Pheobe fall for Asher quickly and debate what to do about it. Just to have Asher struggling with keeping his hands to himself. They were both so good for each other. Asher really deserved to have someone to love and someone who loved him after sacrificing for his daughter for so long. While Pheobe deserved to be shown that love is not toxic and she was worthy of great love.

Thank you to Corinne Michaels and the team at Valentine PR for the advance reader copy of Keep This Promise, the third story in the Rose Canyon series.

I adore the Rose Canyon series so much. Help Me Remember was one of my top books of 2022. This story was teased a bit in Melanie Harlow’s Tempt and so I have been very excited to get my hands on it.

I am about to lose everything.

My home. My name. My future.

My husband was involved in something that could cost us our lives, and on his deathbed, he demands my daughter and I flee Britain. I had no idea he found her biological father, Holden James, in Rose Canyon, and that’s where we’d start over.

The moment we see each other, feelings I’d long forgotten rush over me. Holden doesn’t hesitate to care for us. We find ourselves reaching for each other, even when we should hold back. His smile warms me, his arms protect me, and against my better judgment, I fall for him. All the possibilities of a future are threatened by a looming past.

I’m being hunted, and it’s just a matter of time before someone finds me guilty of crimes I didn’t commit. Whatever trouble my husband was involved in won’t evade me forever.

I am trying to keep my promise and stay for Holden, but I don’t know how long it’ll be before we have to run.

My name was Sophie Pearson, but I vanished, just like my hope to ever find love again.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: We meet our heroine Sophie on the run and she is as in the dark as we are as to why she needs to abandon her life in England, to make a new one in America. This was so effective as readers will feel pulled into uncovering the mystery and that they are in lockstep with our protagonist. This Rose Canyon series has had a phenomenal overarching mystery. Back to Sophie, readers will fall easily for her and her adorable daughter Eden. But the star of the show for me was Holden! I have been waiting for his story as he has been in this series for quite a while. The doctor has not been keeping secrets (unlike our last two heroes), instead secrets are revealed to him that no one could have anticipated. Surprise you’re a dad! Holden tackles this challenge wonderfully and it was beautiful to read him opening his home and his heart to Sophie and Eden.
  • Setting: Holden actually described the setting best. He told Sophie quite early on that gossip spreads like wildfire in Rose Canyon. Let’s be honest his words speak to the dynamics of all small-town romances. What is unique about this one is the mystery element. I feel the need to recommend to readers to start at the beginning of this series. Yes, you can just read Keep This Promise. But if you want to benefit from the full effect of a multibook unfolding mystery do yourself a favour and start with Help Me Remember. This is also a lovely conclusion to the series by bringing together not just our characters but the wider Rose Canyon mystery and having it take a twist I was not expecting.
  • Pacing: So much of the earlier parts of this book are defined by mystery. No one knows what has caused Sophie and Eden to run away. Once the pieces of the puzzle become clearer, you will probably just like I reach a point in the story where you will not be able to put this book down. My desire for answers and happiness for this family propelled me to stay up way too late to finish this book.
  • Romance: This book was a slightly slow burn at the beginning but once they came together it was so hot and the heat never dissipated. There is an incredibly touching intimate scene that has our couple sleeping together for the first time after they have not slept with someone for a very long time. That scene and so many others indicate Corinne’s skills of building couples who have such emotional intensity that they will bring you to tears, while not sacrificing the heat and passion in and out of the bedroom. The most heartwarming moment of any single-parent romance is seeing the love interest not just fall in love with their partner but also with the child. For this book especially, to see Holden just adore his daughter so quickly was lovely.

Keep This Promise receives five out of five stars.

I am excited to be returning to Rose Canyon, this has been such a good series so far and super enjoyable for fans of Corinne’s. “New York Times bestselling author Corinne Michaels brings another second chance standalone in the town of Rose Canyon. My biggest mistake was falling in love with my fake husband. It was supposed to be a marriage of convenience between two best friends in the military. Our plan was to collect extra money and stay stationed together. But what failed? Me. I did. Because suddenly I wanted a man who was never meant to be my real husband. In an attempt to remedy my mistake, I severed all ties and put my life as a combat medic and Emmett Maxwell behind me. I’ve lost too many people to open myself up to love. Now I’m working as a private investigator, and fate has stepped in, forcing our paths to intersect again when I’m looking into the disappearance of a missing girl with ties to Emmett’s hometown. A case I fear puts his life in danger. He gives me one week to prove my suspicions and then I need to sign the divorce papers and leave. The problem with that? The moment I see Emmett again, I realize how foolish it was to leave him, to think I could ever stop loving him. All I want is a second chance. When the case threatens not only my life but also his, I’m faced with my worst fear. How many times can a heart break before it shatters beyond repair?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Our lead characters are Blakely and Emmett. These two met while in the military and got married just as friends to keep their unit together. Blakely is a super tough gal, stubborn and determined. Corinne did a great job balancing that with vulnerability. Up until the start of the novel she seemed to care for Emmett much more as just a friend, in contrast to him who was very much in love. Emmett is your classic kind of broody, ex-military now cop back living in the small town he grew up in. He was such a great balance of being a tough cookie and wearing his heart on his sleeve. Setting: We return to Rose Canyon which brings with it a vast range of side characters. Big Corinne Michaels fans will for sure love how intertwined Rose Canyon is with the Salvation series. There are cameos galore in this one. At the same time being in the small town, within this core group of friends allows us to get a good sense of how Brielle and Spencer are doing from Help Me Remember. The setting lent itself well to the mystery threaded throughout the story. If small towns are good for anything they are good for gossip, which fed into the mystery of who you can trust. Pacing: The pacing was pretty good, especially during the later chunk I could not stop reading. I really needed to know what was going to happen next. Romance: The romance was steamy. I could not get over the idea that this was the least convenient marriage of convenience. Their scenes together were electric. This book gives such a feeling of relief when these two finally figure out how to be together. The conflict in the story was driven much more by plot, the romance settled quite early. So it totally depends on where you enjoy having conflict stem from. Give Me Love receives four out of five stars. His college friend, Maren, needs a place for her destination wedding and Oliver offers the resort. When Maren’s fiancé jilts her, will Oliver have a chance to save the day or will everything fall apart?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Our heroine is Maren, someone who is sweet, loving and caring. She loves her father and as he is dying she wants to leave him at peace. She rushes into a relationship and it fails, but she still has her wedding planned. And so the wedding must go on. Enter Oliver Parkerson, who may be my fave Parkerson yet! He steps in to save the day because he is a genuinely nice guy. I loved how hard-working, dedicated and loyal he was. This installment brought us so many character cameos from a ton of Corinne’s books and I adored her for all these check-ins. You’ll get some characters from the Salvation series and Devney is Maren’s bestie, you’ll remember her from The One for Me. Setting: The story is set mostly in Willow Creek Valley and at the Parkerson’s hotel. Along with some good quality time at Myrtle Beach, a sequence I absolutely loved. Willow Creek Valley was such a whimsical setting to get married. Pacing: This book was paced very well. Corinne had me hooked from the start with such an intriguing premise. And damn her cause she always gets me to cry. If cancer and death are triggering for you this may not be the title for you. Romance: This romance had me swooning. Both Maren and Oliver had struggles in the past, finding love has not come easy. Throughout the novel, Oliver described always feeling like a second choice, which is something a lot of readers can relate to. As a plot point, it caused an interesting dynamic. This romance had so many incredibly sweet moments. I loved how Oliver supported and stood by Maren through everything with her father. Corinne is such an awesome, emotive writer. “New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels returns to the Willow Creek Valley Series in this stunning small town/unrequited love romance. Joshua Parkerson has watched his parent’s marriage implode. As the oldest, the responsibility of his four younger siblings fell to him and he doesn’t want to put another child through that. He wants Delia Andrews, he always has, but she longs for a family he can’t give her, so he stays away. Until they breakdown and give into their feelings. But once that door is open they realize it’s not so easy to close it again…” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Delia is our protagonist and she was overall a good character. She has always loved Joshua but he has never reciprocated those feelings. So when an opportunity arises to start having some casual sex with him she jumps at the opportunity. Joshua is down for keeping things casual. He is your classic male protagonist who is reluctant to settle down. Absolutely zero interest in starting a family. Yet he cannot get Delia out of his head. Setting: Willow Creek is the setting, it is a small and quaint town. Delia is best friends with Jessica, the protagonist from the first instalment in this series. If you have never visited Willow Creek, I must recommend picking up Return to Us, it is one of the most emotional books Corinne has ever written. Pacing: The pacing was good overall. The pacing really led up to the reader trying to figure Joshua out. To figure out why he thinks he is undeserving of Delia’s love. Wanting to know this will just keep you wanting to read more and more. Romance: These two have quite the chemistry. They cannot keep their hands off each other. They just kept finding themselves alone and in bed together. Which was nothing but entertaining for the reader. The baby is mentioned in the synopsis so it should not come as a surprise to anyone. I liked this couple, but I am kind of over this trope. I promise you this was a really good accidental pregnancy book, so if you love this trope you will love this book. Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Delia is our protagonist and she was overall a good character.
  • Setting: Willow Creek is the setting, it is a small and quaint town. Delia is best friends with Jessica, the protagonist from the first instalment in this series. If you have never visited Willow Creek, I must recommend picking up Return to Us, it is one of the most emotional books Corinne has ever written.
  • Pacing: The pacing was good overall. The pacing really led up to the reader trying to figure Joshua out. To figure out why he thinks he is undeserving of Delia’s love. Wanting to know this will just keep you wanting to read more and more.
  • Romance: These two have quite the chemistry.

A Moment for Us receives four out of five stars.

I was very excited to get a copy of Corinne Michaels’ first foray into women’s fiction. I know she wrote this years ago and was hesitant to put this out. I am so glad she did. Honestly this is one of the best books I have read this year. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful standalone story about letting love in.  I’m losing myself trying to save everyone else… As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life–love is a luxury I can’t afford. It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart.  When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.  In a single moment, everything I’ve worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.  He loved me once, I just hope he can love me always …” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Serenity is an incredibly smart oncologist at the top of her field. She is about to start a study that will treat women with ovarian cancer. To help them keep their ovaries and uterus intact. She is very casually dating Westin. Wes is a very successful surgeon. He is incredibly caring and patient. He is definitely ready to take his relationship with Serenity to the next level, but he is unclear if Serenity is. Setting: The story is set mostly in Chicago. It is where the hospital is that Serenity and Westin work. We get looks at a more small-town simple living lifestyle when Serenity goes to visit her father and brother. It was interesting for the story that there really was no place for Serenity to feel peace, work was a stressful mess and going to her childhood home only raised anxieties about how to deal with her ailing father. Pacing: The pacing of the story is heart-pounding. I never wanted to put this down because I just wanted to keep reading about the impossible situation Serenity was in. This story is about choices and decisions. Life-changing choices that drive this story. Romance: Serenity and Westin seem to have a relationship that is only sexual at first. At the start of the story, Serenity is ready to explore making this relationship much more serious. Then she is completely blindsided as her ex reenters her life quite unexpectedly. She is in such a vulnerable position and watching her struggle was unlike any other story I had ever read. It was so refreshing to look at a relationship two years in rather than at the start during a honeymoon phase. The relationship here is very raw and real, a really nice change that I think a lot of readers will love. The premise for this book and this relationship is just so unique, I plead you to pick up this book. I promise you will not regret it. You Loved me Once receives five out of five stars. Stella and Jack’s story was teased in the last installment and I was very excited to get the full rundown on these two. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels returns to the Willow Creek Valley Series in this stunning small town, brother’s best friend romance. Fifteen years ago, I fell for Jack O’Donnell. I was just a girl, but I knew my brother’s best friend was the only man I’d ever love. On my eighteenth birthday, when I asked him to kiss me, I never imagined it would change my life so completely. I gave Jack everything that night. In order to move on, we had to go our separate ways and pretend like nothing happened… as though it wasn’t the greatest moment of my life. But even that wasn’t as heartbreaking as the secret we were forced to keep. I’ve tried not to think about how much I still love him. How I long to be back in his strong arms or the way his hazel eyes make my heart race. Until he kisses me again. And this time there’s no turning back. This time I know what it means. We belong together and there’s no use denying it any longer. But our feelings aren’t the only thing that won’t stay buried, our past resurfaces and threatens to destroy our second chance at happiness. When our love is tested once again, will we be strong enough to stand together?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Stella and Jack have always loved each other and if that plus the blurb is enough to convince you to go jump into the story. The least you know the better with this one, trust me. Now if you need a bit more, you can stick around. Characters: Both Stella and Jack are incredibly strong characters. Not to diminish the moments of vulnerability they both had, which showed just how human they were in the face of everything. But I was floored especially by Stella’s strength. Setting: Willow Creek Valley is the setting of this story. I absolutely love this little town as so many wonderful characters live there right now. Over the course of this story, Stella’s brothers all make their way home and are planning on settling back in Willow Creek Valley after they had been scattered across the country for years. This just makes me so excited for what the future books could be. Not only because of all the Parkerson brothers whose stories are yet to be told but because Willow Creek Valley is already filled to the brim with awesome women. I love the girls and especially cannot wait to get Deliah’s story next. Pacing: The pacing was excellent. I guessed a few plot points as they came up but that was not something that really affected my reading experience. The pacing allowed for this book to breathe and showcase just how heartbreaking it was. Heartbreakingly sweet, sad, bittersweet, and lovely. Romance: Stella and Jack’s relationship started with one fateful night and a hookup that ended with a pregnancy. Talk about a curveball to throw into a relationship at age, just 18 and 22 respectively and they had to deal with the emotional toll of giving up their baby. Stella’s father forced her to give the baby up and this forever damaged her relationship with Jack. Holding in a secret like that for the last twelve years was bound to bubble over. Now they are willing to fight for one another, to have that second chance, to stop wasting away convincing themselves that they feel nothing for the other. These characters had sexual chemistry that was off the charts coupled with a beautiful love that brought me to tears more than once. What can I say except for Corinne writes some of the best tearjerker romance out there. Could Have Been Us receives five out of five stars. Corinne Michaels is the queen of emotional romance. Like I ugly cry through each one of her books. Her last series the Arrowood Brothers was just phenomenal. So I was over the moon to get the chance to review the first story from her newest series. I have been denied previous ARCs from her so I cannot even express how excited I am for this chance to review. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “At eighteen, I walked away from Willow Creek Valley for good.I was young, scared, and stupid, and it cost me the love of my life— Grayson Parkerson. Fourteen years later, a crash sends me back home to recover. Back to where we met, fell in love, and planned a future. The one he’s now living as a single dad to his daughter.Working at The Park Inn together gives us a chance to reconnect, and seeing him with his little girl makes me long for the days when he was mine. One look in his gorgeous blue-green eyes, and it’s like I never left. One kiss, and my world is upside down. One night together, and I know without a doubt, in his arms is where I belong. I’m not the girl I was—intimidated by his wealthy family and desperate to escape our small town. I can imagine a new life for us here. But he’s learned to guard his heart, and trust won’t come easily. How can I convince him to give first love a second chance?”  Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Grayson Parkerson and Jessica Walker are the main characters of this heartbreaking love story. You may remember Jessica if you read the final instalment in the Arrowood Brothers series. Jessica was in the plane crash with Jacob and it had been teased that we would be getting her story next. While Jacob’s thoughts had been on Breanna as the plane descended Jessica thought about the one that got away, Grayson. He was her high school sweetheart and upon deciding to go out of state for school she broke it off with him. Much of this was fuelled by Grayson’s family that was always unsupportive of the couple, Jess was poor and her mother was a housekeeper at one of the Parkerson’s successful Inn locations. Jessica was shaped early on in life by her dad leaving her, her mom, and her sister Winnie. Her mom quickly took up three separate jobs to leave them afloat. After high school was overall Jess wanted to do was leave town, explore the world and leave Grayson before he left her. In contrast, Grayson never left Willow Creek Valley and became an integral member of the family business. He also volunteers as a community firefighter. Upon a not-so-successful relationship with a woman named Yvonne, Grayson is left as the single dad to four-year-old Amelia. Grayson and Amelia have the cutest father-daughter relationship as he went well out of his way to fill the mother-less void in Amelia’s life. Setting: Willow Creek Valley is the setting and it is a very insulated gossip-heavy small town. Jessica must return after the plane crash in order to recover both physically and mentally from what she endured. She can’t drive while she recovers from the head injury so we see small snippets of the town as Winnie takes her places or as she ventures out more after her recovery progresses. It is very clear early on that Jessica sees her return as a failure, as she vowed never to return to her hometown. A town divided between rich and poor and a steady stream of gossip about her once she arrives back in town. Pacing: The story is paced quite well as an integral part of the story, Jessica’s recovery never ever felt rushed. Corinne spends pages upon pages on Jessica’s therapy sessions with Dr. Warvel, the nightmares, and the migraines. Her process to getting cleared to fly and to drive was not sudden, rather it took months and progressed naturally with the story. How this all was depicted as one of my fave parts of the story. Romance: Grayson and Jessica have a second chance love story of epic proportions. They are definitely each other’s ones that got away and despite other attempts at relationships; they both never fully moved on from one another. Much of this love story was focused on understanding that risks are worthy in love and that you cannot live your life fearful that it all might crash and burn. Falling in love with each other came naturally to them, and Jessica also found herself loving Amelia with the fierceness she deserved. Their chemistry was off the wall so in the early chapters they had to be wary of all the time spent together. Giving in to each other was a scary thought for both Gray and Jess, but in doing so they opened up the chance for a lifetime of happiness with each other. All it took was some near-death experiences to prove to them, that they had a love worthy of a fight. Return to Us receives five out of five stars. The third story in this series of interconnected standalones about the Arrowood brothers is releasing on August 18th. Now here is the cover reveal… Here is the Goodreads synopsis… “Devney Maxwell has been my best friend since we were six years old, but she has no idea I’m in love with her. Even when I’m on the road playing professional baseball, she’s my home—the only one I’ve ever known. But when I return to Sugarloaf to care for the family farm, I discover she’s trying to talk herself into a life with the wrong man … and I become desperate. It only takes a single, perfect kiss to change everything. I have six months to get it right with Devney—to convince her to leave this town and turn that kiss into forever. I aim to do just that as I spend my days coaching her nephew’s baseball team, fixing up the farm, and loving her with all I have. Finally, it seems like our relationship is secure and we’ll find a way to make it work. Then tragedy strikes … changing her life forever. She’s needed here more than ever, but as for me—there’s no way I can stay. I know she’s the one for me, but I might have to let her go…” You can pre-order the story below… Amazon ➜ https://geni.us/TOFMAmazonApple Books ➜ https://geni.us/TOFMAppleBarnes & Noble ➜ https://geni.us/TOFMNookKobo ➜  https://geni.us/TOFMKoboGoogle Play ➜ https://geni.us/TOFMGP Connect with Corinne… Facebook: https://bit.ly/1iwLh6yTwitter: https://bit.ly/2Jcp29zInstagram: https://bit.ly/2L1Vzo6Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2N1H2GbAmazon: http://amzn.to/1NVZmhvPinterest: https://bit.ly/2m7MkELBookbub: https://bit.ly/2yc6rss Stay up to date with Corinne and sign up for her mailing list: https://bit.ly/2NqiittTo sign up for monthly text alerts: Text CMBOOKS TO 77948

I’ve been a fan of both these authors for a while now and I’m so pumped to see them work together! The photographer is Lauren Watson Perry, Perrywinkle Photography and the cover design is from Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative. And here is the full paperback cover… Here’s the synopsis: “From NYT Bestseller Corinne Michaels & USA Today Bestseller Melanie Harlow, comes a second chance standalone romance. Ian Chase broke my heart at seventeen, and I’ve spent the last eighteen years hating him for it. He makes it easy, with his smart mouth and playboy lifestyle—which I unfortunately have to observe since he lives behind me. Every time I see him climbing out of his pool, practically naked and unreasonably sexy, my blood boils. I’ve always loved to loathe him. I never planned to need him. ***  London Parish is my little sister’s best friend, not that it stopped me from falling for her.  Our history is complicated. The only thing we have in common is being godparents to my sister’s three adorable kids—until our lives are changed in one tragic moment.  Now we’re trying to raise the children we love, mourn an unthinkable loss, and fight an undeniable attraction. My life is already upside-down, and the last thing I need is for old feelings to resurface. Because I’ll never be able to keep her, no matter how hard I try to hold her close.” You can add Hold You Close on Goodreads by clicking here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40550201-hold-you-close?ac=1&from_search=true If you are interested in picking it up, you can preorder it here: iBooks: https://apple.co/2Jcl6Ga Kobo: https://bit.ly/2uovt4k Print: https://amzn.to/2N8rCQC For a text alert when Hold You Close is available on all platforms: Text CMBOOKS TO 77948 Or Text HARLOT to 77948 (*US only due to carrier restrictions*) If you want to keep in touch with the authors, check them out at these links:  Connect with Corinne: Facebook:https://bit.ly/1iwLh6y Twitter: https://bit.ly/2Jcp29z Instagram: https://bit.ly/2L1Vzo6 Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2N1H2Gb Amazon:http://amzn.to/1NVZmhv Pinterest: https://bit.ly/2m7MkEL Bookbub: https://bit.ly/2yc6rss Stay up to date with Corinne and sign up for her mailing list: http://corinnemichaels.com/subscribe/ To sign up for monthly text alerts: Text CMBOOKS TO 77948 (*US only due to carrier restrictions*)  Connect with Melanie: Facebook: https://bit.ly/1RiTP7z Amazon:http://amzn.to/1NPkYKs Bookbub: https://bit.ly/2yfljWR Pinterest: https://bit.ly/2m60beu Instagram: https://bit.ly/2ubxh19 Website: http://www.melanieharlow.com Stay up to date with Melanie, sign up for her Mailing List: http://www.melanieharlow.com/subscribe/ To sign up for monthly text alerts: Text HARLOT to 77948 Thank you for reading and thank you to Melanie Harlow, Corinne Michaels and Social Butterfly PR!
