Time for the final instalment in this amazing trilogy! I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “The winner takes all… I had her. She was mine. They took her away. Lyriope Morelli is the dream I’ve been chasing. My obsession isn’t gone, my hunger’s not satiated. I won’t rest until I find her and claim her again. I won’t rest until I’ve dragged her safely back to Wonderland. Villains don’t get the happily ever after written for them in the story. And I’m the villain of this story–vicious and calculating, terrifying in my whims. Which is why, when it comes to my queen of hearts… The game has just begun.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: This is the final instalment in Lyriope and Nick’s story and if you have not read the first book, King of Spades I highly recommend you do. I will try not to spoil anything, you should just go read the first two novels because this is a top-tier Dangerous Press story. Going into this last chapter of our story, Lyriope is stuck in a really shitty situation. Any reader can be sympathetic to how she is finally getting what she always wanted yet it is not turning out the way she hoped. I loved the push and pull of Lyriope’s family and Nick. Speaking of Nick, I really enjoyed his character arc. He starts angry and determined, maybe even a bit shaken. As he calmed down, he played everything in quite a smart manner. He was incredibly calculated and I loved that about him. Setting: This story is set like them all in New York City and Bishop’s Landing. We spend quite a bit of time at the Morelli house, and it was interesting to see the Morelli house become Lyriope’s prison. The best setting is Wonderland, and it finally gets to be the star of the show in this book. We get a great sequence that really shows Wonderland in all its glory. Pacing: The pacing in this book was great and the book flew by at a great clip. Romance: I loved this final arc of Lyriope and Nick’s story. It was wonderful to see Nick fight for their love. He definitely flexed his boss-man muscles in like the hottest way possible. Lyriope and Nick are hot together both in and out of the bedroom. Their love has this immense intensity that made it so fun to cheer them on. Ace of Diamonds receives four out of five stars. I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “No matter how far I run, Nick Hudson finds me I’m a pawn in a twisted game of power and revenge. And he’s a masterful player. He’s going to hold me and hurt me, protect me and punish me. I loved how they kept pushing each other and growing not only as a couple but as individuals. Lyriope is growing into her own, she is discovering her own power. Nick’s character is super interesting because Lyriope is getting to him. She is bringing out the good in a very troubled guy. Setting: The setting was the most notable part of this. At the end of the first book, Lyriope runs away to Italy. Nick being the no-so-rational lover runs after her. Then commences a summer in the region of Tuscany, in a small town that Nick owns. I loved getting to spend this time in Italy with them. From the sharing of gelato to the pizza in the shadow of the Duomo to the dips in the stream. I may be quite biased as an Italian, but I love Italy and was so excited to get a break from Bishop’s Landing. Pacing: This story just ripped by. I engulfed it and faster than the speed of light the romance between Nick and Lyriope was growing from lust to love. I was happy that Nick finds her quite quickly and much of the story is dedicated to the growth of their relationship. Romance: What else can I say besides that this is one of the Dangerous Press romances that excites me the most. Lyriope is making our tough broken boy, break down for her. Plus their sexual chemistry is off the damn charts. There were so many incredibly hot scenes. Oh boy do I love a romance where the love interest won’t admit he’s deeply and almost maddeningly in love with our heroine. She is on the right page and I cannot wait for one more instalment where he gets on hers. Queen of Hearts receives five out of five stars. If you picked up the Meet Me Under the Mistletoe short story anthology then you may already be aware of Nick and Lyriope. She is a secret Morelli half-sister and Nick is sure intrigued by her. I knew I wanted an entire trilogy about them and we are finally getting it. I am a member of the Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “Nick Hudson has a dangerous reputation. That’s what I need if I’m going to survive. Desperation makes me seek out a ruthlessly powerful billionaire. I need protection. He demands my virtue as payment. I’m falling into a world of luxury and sin. With every twist and turn, I need more. Except this is not a man to love. This is a man to fear. His obsession grows. So does the threat, until I’m trapped in a world of depravity. I’ll need more than Nick’s strength to survive. I’m going to need his heart.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Lyriope Bailey is our heroine and she is Bryant Morelli’s bastard daughter. Our story opens with her having no relationship with any of her half-siblings and is hiding from the Russian mob to whom she owes money. You cannot help but feel bad for her, she is in over her head. Her background as a Morelli bastard is very intriguing. I am interested to see the future reactions of Leo, Lucian and even Bryant. Our hero is Nick Hudson, a tattooed bad boy. He owns the private club, Wonderland. He is incredibly mysterious but seems to know a lot about Lyriope and the world of the Morellis and the Constantines. I loved Nick’s characterization, but I will not go into too much detail about the trauma in his past. I don’t want to spoil it for you. I am excited to see him give his heart to Lyriope. Setting: It is always good to return to Bishop’s Landing. It was nice to see someone, Nick who amassed wealth and influence but that wealth was not inherited. One of the settings is Wonderland, Nick’s club. I just wanted more of it! We only got a taste of the sexy side of the secret club. I am hopeful that a future book uses the setting more. Pacing: The pacing was quick. I could not stop reading. I just wanted to engulf it. So, by the time the story was finished I only wanted more. I just wish it was a little longer because I was enjoying it so much. Romance: This book is so incredibly hot! Lyriope is a virgin and she bargains it away to Nick. Once it is taken Nick will release her. To delay this Nick is not quick to sleep with her. He doesn’t want to admit he’s a sweet guy, but he didn’t want to lose her. All of this does not keep them from having fun in and out of the bedroom. These are some of the hottest scenes I have read in a long time. King of Spades receives four out of five stars. If you love the Morellis and Constantines as much as you do, I bet you are also over the moon to be whisked away to a Christmas ball with all our favourite characters. Dangerous Press kicked off with a short story anthology, Dark Fairy Tales. So it is lovely to return to the kind of storytelling we started with. Now though we all know the world and will appreciate checking in on our favourite characters. Along with introducing some new stories to come next year! I am a member of The Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “Brand new holiday stories for bestselling authors! This boxed set contains powerful alpha men and heroines who bring them to their knees… Enter the world of dark mansions and mysterious heroes. The notorious Morelli family hosts their annual Christmas ball. And you are invited to experience the sensual feast. MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE is an exclusive anthology of scorching hot NEW holiday stories. Download your copy and tell a book-loving friend, because it won’t last long.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Skye Warren’s Halleluiah: I love Eva Morelli and I am so excited to get a full story about her very soon! This short story introduced us to Finn, Eva’s love interest. I loved seeing Leo be a super protective brother. All this story does is keep me excited for Skye Warren’s future book and for more Morelli secrets to be revealed. 4 stars. Amelia Wilde’s O Come All Ye Faithful: Fuck I love this couple so much! I love how Haley’s character strikes the perfect balance between insecurity and confidence. The sexy scenes were hot fire in this one too. 5 stars. Giana Darling’s Baby It’s Cold Outside: I was so excited to start this story and see that it was Elena and Dante. It was so rewarding to read more of their story. Their sex scene was phenomenal. If you are not excited about Dangerous Temptation after reading this story, well you should be! 5 stars. Theodora Taylor’s This Christmas: This one is the most mysterious of the bunch. But I just did not get really invested in this one at all. 3 stars. Sam Mariano’s Wrapped in Red: I was very enthralled with this couple. This was an office romance, which is always a fun trope. I could have seen myself reading a whole book about Georgia and Lee. 4 stars. Pam Godwin’s O Holy Night: Time for two of my faves, Tinsley Constantine and Father Magnus. Swoon! I just love the way they do everything from loving to fighting to fucking. I loved seeing Tinsley meet Elaine and Lucian. Plus there was a scene that may have involved a church altar and it was hot fire. 5 stars. Clare Contreas’ Santa Baby: This one was an interesting premise. Of two individuals living their lives apart but were meant to live them together. I loved getting to read two sides of a love story coming back together again. I was glad to see a male character display so much emotion. 4 stars. Katee Robert’s Last Christmas: I was excited to see an O’Malley show up. I am a huge fan of all of Katee’s work and this story is no exception. This story is about Carrigan’s nephew Cael. I loved how this one is an older woman and a younger man. Falling in love with a Senator’s wife, how scandalous. I loved this short and sexy, yet still sweet. 5 stars. M. O’Keefe’s Little Drummer Boy: This story is about Zilla, Poppy’s sister. I love that this one featured an unconventional friend with benefits relationship. The sex was hot but I wanted to be more invested. They may have worked better with a longer story. 4 stars. Jenika Snow’s It Came Upon a Midnight Clear: Gallina and Arlo are a couple of Jenika’s from a previous book. A book I have never read so I did not have any prior investment in them. I found them a riveting couple with incredibly hot sex. 4 stars. Maria Luis’ Carol of the Bells: Laela Donna is being a recluse but a sexy mystery man is attempting to seduce her. I really loved this one and all the twists in it. 4 stars. Sienna Snow’s Silent Night: Greek mafia! I love the change from it always being about Italians, Irish or Russian mobsters. This was an interesting relationship dynamic. 3 stars. Jade West’s Away in a Manger: Yes! It is time for Lucian and Elaine. I loved getting to see them as parents. Lucian is such a softie with his kid and I adore how he melts for Elaine. The sex scene was hot of course! 5 stars. M. Robinson’s All I Want for Christmas Is You: Jax is an all-star quarterback and has no interest in settling down. At the Morelli ball, he is immediately attracted to this mystery woman. The story ends abruptly and I would have loved a sexy scene and a longer story. 3 stars. Alta Hensley’s Silver Bells: Lyriope is the Morelli’s sibling’s secret half sister. Nick Hudson catches her eye at the Morelli Christmas Ball. He is the owner of the Wonderland Club, an exclusive mysterious sex club. I cannot wait for their trilogy so we readers can jump headfirst into wonderland. 5 stars. Meet Me Under the Mistletoe receives four out of five stars. You can pick up the story below for free!!
