Thank you to Giana Darling and the team at Valentine PR for the advance reader copy of Caution to the Wind, the seventh book in The Fallen Men series.

After waiting for this book for quite a while, I am so happy to say that Giana is back and better than ever. This book is top-tier and has so many elements of Giana at her best. My review is glowing because honestly, this book was just phenomenal and I never want to go almost three years without a Fallen Men book again!

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Giana Darling comes an age gap, forbidden love story about a rebel soul and her best friend’s dad who wants absolutely nothing to do with her…

I fell in love with my best friend’s dad when I was seventeen.

He seemed like some kind of heathen god, big enough to kill a man with his bare hands, tattooed with bright, bold images, and weathered by time and a short stint in prison.

Blind to the consequences, I made a mistake that ran him out of town and ruined his life.

Now, he’s back after all these years––hating me more than the day he left.

What he doesn’t know is that I’ve been working to atone for my sins.

I’ve infiltrated the Vancouver Triad that killed his wife.

Always my protector, he decides it’s not safe for me to be in this alone, so he resolves to get me out of the Triad and out of his hair for good.

*A stand-alone novel in The Fallen Men Series.*

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: I very quickly adored both the main characters, Axe-Man and Mei have my heart. Mei might be one of Giana’s strongest heroines yet, she has such strength but at the same time vulnerability, she really stands out in a world of phenomenal female characters. I loved Mei’s friendship with Cleo and then the way over the course of the story she is brought into the fold of the found family that is the Fallen MC. Axe-Man was her perfect match, as he has such a dark history and a fraught backstory. Right away I felt invested in his happiness and him finding that with Mei. This book of course gives us so many amazing moments with the wider cast of characters, with great moments with Cressida, Nova, Bea, Kodiak, Cleo and Zeus. Plus there is a whole subplot of Danner and HR’s wedding which long-time fans will love.
  • Setting: You do not realize how long you have yearned to return to a place until you have to be away from it for so long, and that is exactly how I felt about Entrance, BC. The clubhouse, the bookstore, and the tattoo parlour mean as much to fans as the colourful cast of characters.
  • Pacing: This book is told in three parts, with the key back story elements of a much younger Mei, seventeen-year-old Mei, and then we catch up with her at twenty-five years old. I really loved this as I feel like I really got to know a character very well without having to rely on seeing them in the previous books. This book can really stand alone from the others for that reason. It is over 600 pages and it did take me a few more nights to read than I expected but I never wanted the return to this world to stop, so I made the active choice to slow down which is something I rarely do.
  • Romance: Some of the best Fallen Men love stories are the ones with not just rich character backstories but deeply rooted and emotional pasts that are tangled up in each other. Mei and Axe-Man’s love story is probably in my second slot (nothing is going to beat my love for Nova and Lila), but what a triumph their story was. Warning it is a sixteen-year age gap, and he did know her when she was younger which I know is not everyone’s cup of tea. The journey from seventeen-year-old Mei’s crush on her best friend’s dad to her at twenty-five trying so desperately to reconnect and help carry his emotional burdens, was devastating to read. I found myself close to tears so many times throughout the book as I felt just how raw this couple’s relationship was. With that rawness came some pretty intense sexual tension, and some of the romantic scenes were simply some of the best Giana has ever written. What a triumphant return to the indie publishing world, I cannot wait to see what the future of the Fallen Men has in store for us!

Caution to the Wind receives five out of five stars.

But the caring, possessive man keeps coming back to me, and these secret nights tangled up together are turning into tender moments that make my heart thunder. And soon, this tease of a forbidden romance is making me want so much more than I can ever have…

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: The lead characters were Jules Marley and Finn Adams. Jules is a junior TV producer while Finn is a venture capitalist. He is the business partner of Nick, the hero from the previous novel The Tryst. Finn is a divorced single father and is of course much older than Jules. Jules has OCD and I was not keen on the representation of this as it just seemingly entered the story too close to the end. I did like her bold, confident personality but I found in contrast that Finn blended with many other male love interests.
  • Setting: The story is split between New York City and Paris. I do adore books set in Paris and Lauren really does do a good job depicting a romantic Paris. It is easy to believe in a city like Paris that you can be so easily whisked away.
  • Pacing: I did read this quite quickly as Lauren writes at a decently fast pace, but I also wanted to make sure it didn’t put me into a reading slump.
  • Romance: This romance had a lot going on it, maybe too much. They met at a masquerade night at a club, and I would have loved it if Lauren had embraced this even more. She is the daughter of his friend but they would flip between that fact making their relationship forbidden and Jules’ fears. It felt like as they balanced both issues, neither felt the proper weight. The sex scenes were pretty hot, as Lauren is consistently good at writing them.

The Tease receives three out of five stars.

Some men are just off-limits. Like your ex-boyfriend’s father.

But when I met the sexy, powerful older man shortly after my business school graduation, he was simply the seductive stranger I wanted to notice me, and he sure did.
Fast forward a few months later, when my college ex – now a good friend – introduces me to the person he looks up to most…his father.
The man I spent that one hot night with.
I should stay far away from the commanding business mogul. But my ex and I are planning a charity fundraiser that involves late nights at his dad’s penthouse in Manhattan.
Nights where he can’t stop looking at me with desire in his eyes that matches my own.
I try to resist him, playing the good girl in the city…mostly.
He’s the perfect gentleman…until he comes knocking on my door and tells me exactly what he wants to do to me.
And I say yes.
Stealing nights with him like this is supposed to be wrong, but it feels so right. And when he saves the day to protect his son at the fundraiser, my heart wants him as much as my body does.

Can we ever be more than just a tryst?

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Layla is one member of the trio that makes up the so-called Virgin Society, and I really enjoyed her character. She is your favourite type of nepo baby, yes she comes from wealth but she is trying to carve her own place in the world. She has grown a career for herself through her alter-ego Lola’s makeup tutorials and app. There is so much to her character, an incredible drive and this depth to the feelings of loss. She cannot afford to trust easily, so it was beautiful to watch her let Nick in. Nick is the father of Layla’s college ex, David. Nick is a venture capitalist who had to work for everything he has. His ex-wife and her richer community looked down on him, they made him feel like an outsider. He was charming, and caring, and I loved how he went out of his way for the people he loves.
  • Setting: This story begins in New York City, but we are quickly whisked away for an explosive time in Miami. What is seemingly just a tech conference opportunity becomes a hugely meaningful night for Layla and Nick. Then we transition back to the hustle and bustle of New York City, and Lauren always works in cameos and easter eggs from her New York books.
  • Pacing: The beginning of the story was a tad too slow. I think it would have been stronger to open during the conference, rather than the lead up to it. The rest of the story was paced very well.
  • Romance: Nick and Lola were hot together, and Nick and Layla were even hotter. I love that this series is about characters losing their virginities, but Lauren writes it so that it doesn’t take away or over dominate the story. The sex scenes were electric, yet still very full of emotional connection. It felt like this couple fell in love with each other even more with each scene. This is a great story Lauren Blakely, and I am excited about the next age gap romance, The Tease coming this fall.

The Tryst receives four out of five stars.

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster comes a new steamy age-gap, enemies-to-lovers “why choose” forbidden romance!

He’s a successful attorney with a secret craving for his too-young stepdaughter.
He wants her badly. But his wicked son wants her too…

Love is an illusion.
In my world, collecting the shiniest trophies is what I do.
Beautiful wife. Swanky home. Expensive cars. Successful firm. Future attorney general.
Add in the Park family name and I’m the envy of every man in town.
True love, however, was never attainable, no matter how much I secretly wanted it.

The desire to be loved isn’t my only secret.
My wife is missing.
With my life under scrutiny as I run for office, I’m finding it difficult to lie away her whereabouts. People are starting to notice. My political opponent. Her best friend. And worst of all, my wife’s daughter, Aubrey.

Aubrey is finally back home after two long years with her dad, but she’s asking questions I don’t have answers to. Yet, that’s not all she’s doing…
She’s invading my thoughts and my heart, driving me insane with her beauty and vulnerability.

I want her.
She’s barely legal and my wife’s daughter.
Forbidden and morally wrong.
I can’t have her. I can’t.

My son, though, doesn’t live by the same code I do.
He wants her too.
But not to love…to destroy.

I’ll risk everything to keep him from her.
Even if this tangle of awful costs me my reputation, my campaign, and my son.

***This is a complete mfm standalone novel with a happily ever after. Characters are of legal age and there is no romantic involvement between blood relations. ***

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Our heroine is Aubrey, who storms back into town in need of help from her step-family. Her character archetype is that classic good girl who turns bad after some serious drama. It does not take long for Aubrey’s newer reputation to bear fruit as she starts to chase after both her step-father Hugo and her step-brother Spencer. Hugo is very charming, a politician who knows how to stay buttoned up in public. Behind closed doors is another story. His son is Spencer, who comes across right away as a bully. He calls Aubrey leech for example. He had a more sensitive sight that only she was able to bring out.
  • Setting: This story is set in Park Mountain. As the name suggests, this town is just overrun by the Parks family. It is the same setting as Teacher of Nothing, which featured Callum Park falling for Willa. They get some time in this story and I loved checking in on them. Plus it was so lovely to see Willa befriend Aubrey. Of course, the other Parks and Parks-adjacent characters are teased, and next up we are getting into Jude’s head.
  • Pacing: I was really into this premise from the start. All I wanted to do was engulf the story. I had a few issues with the pacing and plot near the end of the story. Krisit through in some curveballs and not all of them landed with me.
  • Romance: This is an unconventional love story. I fully trusted Kristi to deliver something hot and heavy, as her track record of controversial taboo stories speaks for itself. So yes there were countless sexy-as-sin scenes, not just between either duo but maybe a few with Aubrey enjoying both men at the same time. Teacher of Nothing had quite an emotional thread so I was pumped to see if this story would too. I found I was not as emotionally invested in either couple, as I flirted back and forth between whether Aubrey should explore keeping her relationships with boy men or just stay with one person. Lots of wild elements are thrown in near the end and it shifted the romance dynamic, but don’t let that sway you too much just accept that this book is a wild time and embrace it!

The Tangle of Awful receives four out of five stars.

  • Characters: Millie is our final MacAllister sister protagonist! It feels like the end of an era for these gals, but I really hope Mel keeps writing in this world I love so much. This character is such awesome plus-size representation. We meet Millie really struggling with dating, seemingly every man she dates finds the love of his life once he ends things with Millie. The best part as always was getting to enjoy the sibling dynamics with Winnie and Felicity. Our leading man is Zach, a former Navy Seal who now works for a private security company. Now here is something really cute, if you are a fan of Melanie Harlow’s bestie Corinne Michaels’s books then you will love the cameos and easter eggs. Zach doesn’t just work for any private security company, hehe. I loved Zach, he was a blend of charming and protective.
  • Setting: I am always happy to be in Cloverleigh Farms, it was especially fun to be there for a dreamy Cloverleigh wedding run by Millie. What was different about this book is we got to see our couple in a few other settings. I loved that the story opened up in New York City, with such a hot hotel hookup. Then we follow Millie and Zach throughout their long-distance hookups all over the US.
  • Pacing: This book was a really great length. I was slightly worried that the ending would be rushed because Melanie gave the middle, and subsequently the relationship so much time to grow just in secret. But Melanie always succeeds in delivering a satisfactory ending.
  • Romance: Omg this book is super hot. Their first hookup, the tryst in the New York hotel room I alluded to earlier is smoking and really sets the tone for these characters both in and out of the bedroom. Zach may be one of Melanie’s most dirty-talking and dominant characters yet. Longtime fans of Melanie will be excited to hear he gave me Lucas from Frenched vibes. This romance was easy to emotionally invest in too. Millie and Zach were both so deserving of finding life-long love and having the opportunity to build a family together.

When he said his vows, he told me how much he loved my determination and strength. If I wanted it, I got it. Except now all I want is to have his baby. And for the first time ever, no matter how much I want it, no amount of strength and determination can make it happen. Romance: I love Olivia and Kent’s romance and it is very special. Fiona writes age-gap romance so incredibly well. This story is such a testament that authors can write dynamic stories about after the happily ever after. Talk about a book stacked with taboo tropes! This book is way more emotional and sweet than I was expecting. Showing that you should never judge a book by its tropes.

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster comes a new steamy age-gap, student-teacher forbidden romance!

He’s a grumpy teacher with a chip on his shoulder. She’s his much, much younger student who’s completely off-limits.

Love broke me when I was a teen.
My dad not only slept with my girlfriend, but he knocked her up and made her my stepmom, too. Nearly two decades later and I’m still not over it.
How can I be when they’re a daily reminder of what was stolen from me?

Being a teacher isn’t necessarily my passion but pissing my dad off is.
He thinks teaching is beneath our family and I love watching him squirm.

But the joke’s on me.

I’m completely obsessed with the quiet, beautiful girl in my class.
Always staring at her perfect lips when no one’s looking.
She’s so young—too young for me.
Something about her, though, is just so sad and I can’t seem to stop thinking about her.

I want to comfort her. To hold her.
To teach her filthy lessons while in the sanctity of my bedroom.

And, yet I can’t.
Not only would I lose my job and bring humiliation down on the others in my family who don’t deserve the heat, but I’d be just like him. My father. A sicko chasing some girl he has no business going after. I refuse to let that happen.

Until I’m forced to protect her when no one else will.
Everything changes and I cross a line I’m not sure I can come back from.

It turns out, I’m exactly like my father.
A selfish man hellbent on ruining everyone’s lives over a teenage girl.

*This is a complete standalone novel with a happily ever after. Characters are of legal age.*

I have very much enjoyed Emma’s Getting Some series and countless other titles from her, so I jumped at the chance to pick up this ARC. “A sexy, hilarious, emotional, new romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase. Connor Daniels never thought he’d be starting over at dating square one. His career as a successful doctor, and his three boys, are everything to him. It’s not exactly a set-up conducive to a scorching love life—but he’s giving it a shot. ER nurse Violet Robinson never intended for Connor to find out she’s had a crush on him forever. It was a dirty little secret only meant for her dirty dreams. Her heart trips every time he’s around—and so do her feet. When Connor sees Violet coasting across the grocery store parking lot—and she falls on her face—he starts falling for the gorgeous, young nurse right back. Dating can be tricky. And life can be beautiful and crazy and unpredictable. But when it gets real, you discover what matters most . . . and the one person you want loving you through it all.” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Connor is our hero and he is the single dad of three teenage boys. The emergency room doctor is fresh off a rough divorce. His sons Brayden, Spencer and Aaron are all that he pours his time into. He is incredibly caring, outgoing and is a sweetheart. You cannot help but like him. I did like how he was self-conscious about asking our heroine out and that others around him had to push him into it. Violet, is our heroine and she is a nurse at the same emergency room as Connor. She is struggling with dating too. I think all of us gals can relate to Violet’s frustration about the men her age just not clicking with her. Setting: The story is set in Lakeside, New Jersey, which is a quaint and cute little town. If you have read any of the previous Getting Some books you will recognize Connor’s family, he is one of four brothers. The Daniels are a staple in this series with the eldest brother Garret finding love with Callie in Getting Schooled. There are also cameos from Dean and Lainey of Getting Played. I really like all the characters of the wider Lakeside world and think there is so much potential here for Emma to explore more love stories. Pacing: This story just flew by and I could not help but just devour it. It had been quite a long time since I lost track of time reading and wasted a morning away in bed cuddled up with a good book. Getting Real will make you want to do that. Many parts of the plot actually inspired me, something I was not expecting from a cutesy romance. Romance: I loved the adorable and cutesy way the relationship between Connor and Violet grew. They start as friends. Friends who run together, to avoid klutzy Violet tripping on the trail. Friends who be each other’s wedding dates, so they can dance the night away. I did enjoy the way it was the other characters not only pushed them together in the first place but were constantly there to provide guidance and advice. The steamy scenes were pretty damn good too. I loved how Violet was not a pushover when it came to Connor, when she was mad at him, he knew. When he would grovel an apology, she did not take him back easy. There was an emotional intensity to this story, another thing I was not expecting. Do not be surprised if this one part adorable and one part steamy romance gets you teary-eyed. I was a huge fan of the Cloverleigh Farms series. If you have never picked it up you should definitely start with Irresistible. Which is the story of how Winnie’s parents, Frannie and Mack fell in love. It is still one of Melanie Harlow’s best books and I was so excited to see that Melanie was returning to Cloverleigh. I am a member of Melanie Harlow’s review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. “My new neighbor is a firefighter–and a scorching hot single dad–but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose. (And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.) Nothing happened, of course–because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love. Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses. (Also my underwear.) He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right. He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve. He’s wrong. Dex and I might be twelve years apart, but the fire between us is the kind that will never burn out. How can I convince him to give happily-ever-after with me a chance?”  Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Our hero is Dexter. Dex is the divorced father of two little girls. He is a former Navy SEAL turned firefighter. He is a bit of a grump and swears a shit ton. He loves his daughters, he puts them first even at the detriment of his own happiness and that was one of the reasons it was so easy to cheer for him to find love. Our heroine is Winnie, you will recognize her if you have read Irresistible. She is Mack and Frannie’s daughter. Winnie is a hopeless romantic, but she has had to swear off men. After a failed engagement and a litany of bad boyfriends. She falls in love fast and hard. I loved how she always saw the best in people. Dex’s daughters, Hallie and Luna were much needed comic relief. When emotions got heavy they were always there to make a joke about Dex being a hairy ogre. Setting: I am so excited to be back at Cloverleigh! The best part of this book was all the interactions we got with other characters from all over the MHU (Melanie Harlow universe). There are obviously great scenes with Frannie and Mack. Along with the scene stealer character of Ellie, who is Winnie’s bestie. She is Mia and Lucas’s daughter whom you may remember from Frenched. I really hope we get her love story next! Finally we also get cameos from Mariah and Chip. Mariah being Cole’s daughter from Make Me Yours. Chip who plays a role in Unforgettable. Pacing: I have always loved how Melanie paces her books and Ignite was no exception. The stories are always the perfect length, not too long nor to short. All of it was just perfect when it came to pacing. Romance: These two are so hot together. It is amusing to see Winnie following in her parent’s foot steps. So many similar circumstances are in play. From the age gap to Dex’s single dad status. I knew from the first few pages I was going to be invested in seeing these two fall in love. They had immediate chemistry and I loved how they slowly, easily fell into love. Into the kind of love that both of these characters deserved. Love that was equal parts sweet and sexy. Melanie took a bit of a break between releases and all I wish is that the gap between the next one is not as large, because I need more Cloverleigh books and I need them now!

Ignite receives five out of five stars.

Webster and the team at Dangerous Romance for the advance reader copy of The Glass Slipper, the third and final Cinderella novel. This story comes out on April 20th! It is finally time for the conclusion to Ash and Winston’s journey! And oh my god what a journey this has been, full of highs and lows, and huge cliffhangers. These two are so deserving of a happily ever after and so this conclusion is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I am a member of Dangerous Press review team, but I stand by my reviews remaining honest and true. Check out the Goodreads synopsis… “Betraying the most powerful man in New York wasn’t something I ever envisioned when I first started playing games with Winston Constantine. But he’s engaged in far more dangerous games than ours, and his enemies are out for blood. Winston has my heart, the Morellis have incriminating photos, and I’m left with nothing except three stepbrothers who want to hurt me and a future in doubt. I knew Winston wouldn’t be my prince charming, but that didn’t stop me from falling for him. After all, the slippers fit, and I let myself believe I’d be dancing with Winston forever. Until too much truth comes to light. Until I realize instead of ruling the board, I was just a pawn. In the end, I have only one question. When his game with me is over, will I be able to pretend as if the glass slipper wasn’t a perfect fit?” Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Ash and Winston are some of my fave K. Webster characters ever! They have gone through so much development over the course of this series. I am so happy especially with Winston, who almost to the bitter end swears he’s the tough alpha, yet he cannot help but melt for Ash. Ash’s betrayal wrecks him because he is in love with her. She is distraught because she is much more clear about her feelings, and knows she loves Winston, without or without fame and wealth. Winston denies his feelings because he is scared to have his heartbroken. I liked his character in the past stories, but I really really loved his character in this story. Setting: New York City is the setting. The city is the backdrop for gyro lunches, shopping dates, run-ins with reporters, and restauranting. Absolutely loved watching Winston stake his claim on New York. #TeamConstantine, if you know you know. Pacing: I tried to put this down so I could sleep the night I started it. But it wouldn’t let me! The story demanded that it be finished. The pacing just made me engulf this story. There are twists in this installment, that the series has been teeing up for quite a while. The payoff is just wonderful. Romance: This romance has culminated in Ash finally being able to strip away the “Constantine armour.” Winston puts up a front to send Ash away but really he knows that she “weakens” him. He is vulnerable, cut open in a way with her that he is not even with his own family. They have electric chemistry and continuing to push each other into doing more daring and depraved things. Yet this story is full of so many heartfelt moments like a brush of his finger through her hair and the type of protective hugs everyone would crave. I could not be happier with the conclusion to Ash and Winston’s romance and I really do think you will be too. The Glass Slipper receives five out of five stars.
