Characters: Ruby Valentine and Jesse Hendrix are the main characters of this story. Ruby has just completed years of physical therapy, after having been in a car accident with her best friend Claire. Claire who did not survive was the little sister of Jesse. She is incredibly strong in the face of what she has gone through. Jesse has been there by her side through it as a friend. He restores cars while Ruby works at her parent’s pie shop, while she has an artistic Etsy side hustle.
Pacing: I engulfed this one, no doubt about it that this is a lovely quick read. Yeah, this is totally a one-sitting kind of read.
Setting: New York, a classic Lauren Blakely setting. And upstate lent itself to a beautiful camping setting.
Romance: This was such a cute friends-to-lovers romance. The trope of the best friend’s brother is adorable. Ruby and Jesse are the classic couple, who don’t realize they have feelings for each other but it is undeniable and it has been for years.
