Karina Halle’s Disavow ARC Review

Thank you to Karina Halle, Netgalley, and the team at Montlake Romance for the advance review copy of Disavow the standalone conclusion to the Dumonts series.

I could not be more excited to bring you another Karina Halle review, love my fellow Canadian so much, she always kills it!

Check out the Goodreads synopsis below…

From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a seductive novel of riches, romance, and redemption.

In the Dumont fashion empire, no heir has a reputation as decadent, arrogant, and ruthless as that of Pascal Dumont. Every transgression, an indecent pleasure. Every woman, a conquest. And none is more challenging than his new personal assistant, Gabrielle Caron. She’s defiant, alluring, and a mystery Pascal can’t wait to solve.

A former family servant and daughter of the head maid, Gabrielle’s returned as suddenly as she left eight years ago. No longer an awkward teen, the ethereal young beauty has amassed a wealth of resolve. She’ll need it. In hire to the devilishly charming scion, she’s come back for one reason only. And she dare not whisper why.

But as the nights grow more intimate at the Dumont maison, Gabrielle realizes that the last man she believed in is the one man she can trust with her secrets. For Pascal, falling in love means more than his own redemption. It could mean saving Gabrielle’s very life as they confront a dark and scandalous past…together.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Pascale and Gabrielle are the main characters of Karina’s latest story. Pascale has been with us from the beginning, mostly in a villainous role. Finally getting into Pascale’s head was so worth it, to see that he is really a boy scared to death of what his father is capable of. And this fear towards his father spurs every action in Pascale’s life. Gabrielle was super interesting, she is someone who has channelled her hardships in life into a hard exterior. Once you get to know her a bit better you see just how multidimensional she is.
  • Setting: The Dumonts has taken place mostly in Paris and it has been wonderful. Karina does such a phenomenal job of depicting the setting of Paris.
  • Romance: I had been hoping to read Pascale’s love story for a long time. I was so ready to redeem him. In actuality it was so much better Gabrielle lets Pascale be his true self and what more could you ask for in a relationship.

Disavow receives five out of five stars.
