Devney Perry’s Gypsy King ARC Review

Thank you to Devney Perry and her team for the advance reader copy of the first book in Deveny’s newest series, Gypsy King.

Check out the Goodreads synopsis below…

“The former Tin Gypsy motorcycle club has everyone in Clifton Forge, Montana convinced they’ve locked their clubhouse doors and ripped off their patches. Everyone but Bryce Ryan. There’s more happening at the club’s garage than muscle car restorations and Harley rebuilds. Her instincts are screaming there’s a story—one she’s going to tell.

As the new owner of the small town’s newspaper, Bryce is hungry for more than birth announcements and obituaries. When a woman is brutally killed and all signs point to the Tin Gypsies, Bryce is determined to expose the club and their leader, Kingston “Dash” Slater, as murderers.

Bryce bests Dash match after match, disappointed her rugged and handsome opponent turns out to be an underwhelming adversary. Secrets are exposed. Truths defeat lies. Bryce is poised to win this battle in a landslide.

Then Dash breaks all the rules and tips the scales.

One kiss, and she’s fighting to save more than just her story. She’s fighting to save her heart from the Gypsy King.”

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…

  • Characters: Bryce Ryan and Kingston “Dash” Slater are the main characters of this story. Bryce is a strong female character, as the cutthroat investigative journalist, I personally would not want to mess with her. To match her strength you have Dash Slater, the son of the leader of the town’s disbanded motorcycle gang. He is the unattainable hot guy of the town, who in actuality has dimensions to his character that he does not even know yet at the start of the novel.
  • Setting: Clifton Forge, Montana is the setting as Devney always writes about her home state of Montana. She is so good at writing these little towns as perfect places for secrets to be kept and rumours to be spread.
  • Pacing: Not only did Deveny pace this story as a romance well, but she also had to handle the murder mystery aspect. The secrets unfolded very well, there were a few twists along the way and I did call one but the biggest twist I never did.
  • Romance: The romance element of this story was one of a hot and scorching romance. Devney has really stepped up her game in writing sex scenes, cause these ones were earth-shatteringly hot!
