Process Post Week 4: Behind the Scenes of my Promotional Video

This week we were assigned to do a promotional video. The most rewarding part of the process for me was the editing process. I actually used to make YouTube videos years ago, so I knew my way around iMovie. It was so much fun splitting and splicing video clips and audio clips together just like I used to do. I chose to screen record my blog to show off everything I discussed in the audio recording. I was able to perfectly time scrolling through my reviews while saying the names of the authors out loud. I recorded the audio in Garageband on an external microphone to ensure for the best…

Process Post Week 3: To Logo or not to Logo?

This past week I put a lot of thought into if my brand would benefit from a logo. I first examined the logos of other similar brands to mine. I went right to one of my biggest inspirations: Aestas Book Blog. Aestas is known across the NA book blogging community by her name primarily. If she is known for any specific visual it would be her social media profile picture: On her website she does have her blog name stylized at the top: The profile picture is very recognizable to as I discovered her blog via Goodreads so┬ánaturally, I associated her with her Goodreads profile picture. I would not stay…

    Peer Review #1: LateNightAudrey

I will be reviewing Audrey’s blog LateNightAudrey. Audrey is just at the beginning of her blogging journey. The blog is quite sparse, and I really do not understand what LateNightAudrey is? Her current posts read like Process Posts rather than Professional Posts that highlight her brand. When I dived deeper into Audrey’s About section Audrey mentions writing about her experience studying abroad in Scotland, and as more professional posts appear on her blog her brand will become more apparent. I get the vibe that Audrey is still building what exactly her brand is, and my tip for honing this would be to write and write and write. In my own…

Process Post Week 2: Revelations from my Business Canvas

This week sitting down and working on my business canvas revealed to me how much I rely on my “key partners” to help me blog each week. I could not do what I do without the PR companies that I work with, InkSlingerPR and SocialButterflyPR. Both companies provide me with the opportunities to review and reveal on my blog. Through sending out newsletters with signups on almost a daily basis I never miss an opportunity. These companies provide me with graphics and teasers that elevate each blog post and make my blog more eye-catching. Naturally the authors themselves are key partners as well. In some cases such as with Nicole…

Process Post Week 1: Blog Reflections and Goals

Starting off the new year just a week ago means that I am still in a place of self-reflection about the last year of my life. As an avid reader, my Goodreads goal is very important to me. Throughout 2018 I did not put pressure on myself to reach a certain number. As the year was coming to a close I realized I was scarily close to 200 books. A feat I have not accomplished since 2015. So with about a week left in 2018, I buckled down and picked the shortest ten books on my TBR. I crossed the finish line the afternoon of new year’s eve. I did…
